Perfectly sized to fit both myself and husband plus all of our ski gear. The free lockers on the ground floor were an added bonus (reception give you a locker and key for the duration of your stay). The hotel was also located in a great part of town, one of the first pick ups and drop offs to the slopes - a compromise meaning you have further to walk into downtown Banff for restaurants and bars but one I was so glad to have made. The room was cleaned each day, and new towels provided (even though we hung them up and didn’t need or ask for them to be replaced). The free filter coffee in the room each day was also a lovely gesture. The bed was comfortable and we had a balcony (although if you want a Mountain View try and get a different room). Whilst looking a little dated and in need of a bit of TLC in places we had a brilliant stay and couldn’t have asked for more. We will definitely be returning in the future. Read less

We had a good stay at the Caribou Lodge. It is approximately a 15 - 20 min walk to downtown from here or a few bus stops. We were given free Roam bus tickets, but not told (nor was it on the ticket) that it was only for bus lines 1&2. Staff was not familiar with some of the area amenities including what was and was not available at Lake… Read more

We were given free Roam bus tickets, but not told (nor was it on the ticket) that it was only for bus lines 1&2. Staff was not familiar with some of the area amenities including what was and was not available at Lake Louise. The room we had was spacious with a nice balcony, although not too much of a view as there are trees outside our balcony. Had to get a towel replaced as there was a problem with it and staff were very quick and courteous. It just would have been nice if staff knew more about the area and what there was to offer (other than looking it up on Google which I can do). Read less

This was our 5/6th visit to this hotel over 10 years. In that time absolutely nothing has changed. We’ll probably go back again. The hotel is now rated as ‘budget’ which I can understand. The Spa was as good as ever. This year we noticed that the complimentary tea of coffee in reception had gone, along with the table candles in the evenings. Our room had several maintenance issues and a previous guests child had drawn on the wall with crayon. (No attempt had been made to clean this off) That said, the room was made up perfectly every day, although none of our party ever heard the sound of a vacuum cleaner and none of our rooms vacuumed in our 10 night stay. The main issue was the bar which is run by the Keg restaurant. It closed at different times at the will of the staff. Sometimes being told before 10pm that they had already called last orders. We stopped trying to use this and went to nearby hotels in our way back. This did give us an insight into the quality of the other hotels… Read less

Dinner one night was good but barely worth the cost. Lemon water in the foyer but it disappeared after 2 days and never returned. Rooms were OK although toothpaste spatters on bathroom walls from previous tenants unappealing. Ski locker storage was rusty, dirty and located in the garage. Best thing was the service. Read less

The lobby was large and comfortable and a nice place to spend time while waiting to be picked up for tours. The room was a little on the small side for 2 people -- we had a superior room with 2 queen sized beds. I'm glad we upgraded from the standard sized room and would recommend doing that if it's within your budget. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant (the Keg) most mornings. It is good but the buffet had the exact same items every morning so that gets a bit old. I don't think I'll ever eat eggs benedict again. We had dinner there once and that was excellent (the pistachio crusted salmon was delicious and if you want dessert the Billy Miner pie was a treat and well earned after all the snowshoeing we did!). I was surprised at how many other reviews complained about the distance to the heart of Banff. You get a complementary bus pass and the stop is right outside the hotel. We never used it and always walked. I would say it's about a 10 minute walk to the center of Banff- yes we were walking fast since it was so cold, but tops it would be 15 minutes. But you do pass many other hotels so if you don't like walking or waiting for a bus then you may want to consider one of them. Overall we were very happy with our stay here and would definitely stay here again. Read less
