My favourite hotel in Barbados with the best beach on the island. This hotel will not be for everyone but it suits us. The perfect fly and flop destination

Everything about our stay at Divi Southwinds Barbados is to be recommended. The staff in reception on arrival were more then helpful. The apartment, pools, food, beach, and the grounds and the staff all first class. Oh sorry the rum punch is fantastic!. We will definitely go back again.

This is my 2nd time staying here the 1st time was great this time they have taken an unauthorised transaction on my card of over $1300 when I queried it with the front desk the lady was very dismissive saying that they just put a hold on the card and did not take any money she did not enquire any further or seek assistance from a supervisor or manager. Fortunately she does not work for my bank and clearly has no customer service skills and really should not be working in the front desk of a hotel. My bank have confirmed a transaction has been completed on the day I arrived for Southwinds which is this resort, thankfully my bank have STOPPED the transaction and cancelled my card, however, if I was not travelling with another adult or did not have another card this would put me in a predicament especially if I needed to use my card. My other complaint is that in the restaurant for breakfast the ladies that serve give preferential treatment depending on your race. I really hate to say this as I am of Bajan heritage but for the last few mornings I have not been shown to my seat I have not been offered tea, coffee or water and yesterday was ridiculous. The lady at the desk told me to sit down and said someone would be over 5 minutes later nobody came then a white couple came in they were shown their table given water and hot drinks I had to complain as I had been sitting there with my son trying to get the servers attention which is unacceptable as I am a paying customer just like everyone else here, unfortunately the person I complained to just didn’t seem to understand where I was coming from I will be taking both complaints further as I have not been happy. I would suggest not coming to this hotel especially if you are not white.

Rented a garden room penthouse. Very dated and big disappointment. There is no entertainment and the place was like a ghost town, although I was told they were booked when asking for a new room. Being on the Gap I thought there would be more shops. Mostly restaurants, which were all just ok. Pricey. The hotel isn't on the beach, which was fine but the water was too rough to swim in. According to our tour guide that side of the island always has rough seas. So, to swim in the ocean we had to take a taxi ($50 round trip) or the Zr bus. ($7 but enter at your own risk...they overload the bus ((I had to sit on a wheel well))and play very loud music)
