The hotel

Island Inn is a quaint, 24-room, All Inclusive property situated less than a mile from the centre of Historic Bridgetown and within the Garrison Area — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is footsteps away from the beach at the beautiful Carlisle Bay and Pebbles Beach where the horses come and bathe early morning, and is conveniently close to shops and restaurants. Island Inn will amaze you with its disarming simplicity and old world charm, it was originally built as the rum storage facility for the British regiment in Barbados in 1804! Take advantage of your free scuba diving demo in the pool before hitting the big blue, discovering an underwater world that’s just as beautiful as what lies above! The swimming pool makes a change from the beach and is a charming place to lounge beside, soaking up the sun or reading a good book. There’s also The Boardwalk Restaurant for eclectic dining, serving dishes regarded as very special by locals and guests alike. Evenings tend to be very low key although there is live music three times a week plus a weekly manager’s rum punch party to meet and mingle with fellow guests.

Island Inn used to be the Rum storage building for the Garrison. Our first week of vacation was at a condominium complex and after our travelling companions left for home, my wife and I stayed three nights at Island Inn and loved the vibe the old stone inn offers. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the smokers in the courtyard where you could sit and enjoy a drink and watch some entertainment. The barmen are very generous with their pours at times and they offer Banks on Tap or in bottles which was nice. The "all inclusive" was good for us this short time as we have always thought it to be a waste while visiting Barbados as there are so many great restaurants to enjoy. The lunch and dinner meals are menu based and we found them all to be very tasty with a hint of Bajan flare. Breakfast is buffet style, but you can do made to order as well. We had a garden view room which was well appointed with a King bed. Very comfortable, yet a little small. It's in a great location steps to Pebbles Beach. Cuzz (local fish cutters) is sooooo close. We enjoyed getting up early and watching the Green Monkeys cross back and forth over the road and up on roof tops. I guarantee you will have a sighting during your stay. It was also fun watching the race horses go by on their way for a sea swim. Thanks go to all the Island Inn staff for a very hospitable stay. We will defiantly return and recommend! Read less

Visited for 2 weeks with my wife. Loved our holiday so much we have already booked to come to Island Inn again. Island Inn is ideally located for Peebles Beach, about 100 yards to walk. The accommodation is an old rum warehouse. If your someone who likes hotels to be modern and all marble and mirrors probably not for you. This place is full of charm and character including the staff from Manager all the way through to the night security. Rooms are what I expect from a hotel room. Clean, tidy, well serviced and totally functional. Let’s be honest, it’s Barbados, how much time do you want to spend in your room! We went all inclusive. Food is good. Mainly seated service apart from breakfast which is buffet. We did have some buffet lunches and evening meals were food also on the whole good. I have an intolerance to gluten. I notified hotel before I traveled and they were able to provide gluten free option’s including bread and pasta. We thought all staff were great. Engaging and charming. They don’t always have time for long conversations but they are there to serve. Loved bar and courtyard at night. Chance to chat with other guests or just sit back and chill if preferred. Some good entertainment provided on various nights. Read less
