Room was very spacious and clean but air-conditioning only in the bedroom. The blinds in the bedroom did not fit the windows properly so gave a lot of light in The rooms were cleaned if you put a sign on the door. My only concern was when no sign as put on the door they would walk in with towels .We were in the bedand i heard a k ock on our bedroo. door.Face cloths were given now and again The sun loungers were always full everyday with people's towels with no one on them even though notices were up not to do this. There was a smoking area but people still vaping by the pool. There was only one bar with their own branded drinks , The restaurant was bit of hit and miss with the waiters and waitresses especially Sakira standing there chatting while our drinks were waiting on the bar for 10 minutes and she didnt seem happy in her job but other staff were happy. The ladies at the restaurant frontdesk were akways helpfull The food was a very good variety but always warm. One thing was annoying is that when going for breakfast you had to say what time you wanted lunch and dinner . This is the first time activity is only done in the afternoon which maybe this is a four star as I have only done 5 star hotels Would like to say a big thank you to Ericsson on reception who helped me with my transfer back to the airport as there was a mixup and also letting u stay in the room for an extra 3 hours With all the above that has happened if the hotel was on offer I would go back again. It is the staff that makes it the place it is as they are all polite and go out of their way to help if they can .I wouldn't recommend this for the younger generation . Read less

Food and drink...bar staff are all great and a wide range of cocktails A la carte, alternate days, this is ok and promptly served but the buffet food lets the hotel down, meat and fish tough and dry but there's usually pasta and a good range of salads so l made do with that so didn't starve!!! I would possibly come here again but will probably try the sister hotel if l return to Barbados. Read less

We regard ourselves as realistic when reviewing an hotel or restaurant and take into account what the cost was and we feel this hotel represents very good value. The Sands Hotel was a pleasant surprise having stayed in many Caribbean resorts and paid considerably more money over the years. We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 night stay in a sea view room. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable with effective air conditioning in the bedroom. The wardrobe contained hangers, 2robes, an iron, ironing board and safe. Outside of the bedroom door was a very large shelving unit which we used for our folded clothing. The sitting room area had a tv which we never watched,a fridge, hob and electric kettle. There was a sofa and easy chair and a coffee table . Separating the kitchen area to the lounge was a large breakfast bar with 2 stools. The spacious outside balcony had a lounger type sofa and there was a large clothes airer. The bathroom had a decent sized shower with good water pressure and an hair dryer. In our opinion the room would have been perfect with the addition of a table and 2 chairs on the balcony rather than the lounger. Also kitchen needs tea towels (small and easy to rectify ) Al of the staff we encountered throughout our stay were amazing, friendly and very helpful. They all engaged you in conversation and made you feel very welcome, especially the young restaurant staff who have obviously been well trained in their roles. The food in the restaurant was very good and we liked the mix of buffet and a la carte for lunch and dinner with buffet breakfast. The food was tasty and well presented and the portion size for the a la carte just enough for ourselves (maybe on the small size for those with bigger appetites ) . We ate in Noir restaurant on one occasion, the service was very attentive and professional and the meal was excellent. The bar staff were efficient and they made a decent cocktail or gin and tonic The pool itself was not great for genuine swimmers being too shallow but allowed you to cool off as and when. Usual issue with sun loungers as not enough for the number of guests so it was a first come basis, but towels were provided and changed on request. There were plenty of sun loungers / parasols and towels on the small adjacent beach . Staff were on hand to provide drinks from the bar when sat around the pool or on the beach. No covered area to sit and socialise if the weather was bad. Carpark at the front of the hotel where we always found a spot to park our hire car. We would definitely return to The Sands Hotel. The sea is beautiful and we loved swimming in it. The hotel is tired and needs a makeover. The bar and restaurant are outside so no where to go if it rains or you just want to sit in the cool for a while. The sunbed situation is ridiculous, be prepared to get up at the crack of dawn if you want one. It was disappointing and not what I'd imagined for a trip to the Carribbean. I would definitely not return. Not a 4 star hotel by any means, more like 3 at the best. Read less

Stayed at The Sands for 12 nights in March. Arrival - Hotel entrance and lobby not as grand as many other hotels but it’s what’s behind that really matters. Was greeted with a rum punch and booked in with the lovely Emerson. Check in efficient and we were quickly shown to our room. We had requested a ground floor room which we got. Room - Our room was ample for what we needed. Always fresh towels and tea/coffee/biscuits replenished when requested. Bathroom a bit dated but okay. Patio doors out to gardens/pool. Awoke every morning around 3.25 by the resident cockerel! It became a bit of an early alarm clock 🤣. Bed comfortable and air conditioning very welcoming. There was a television, fridge (with a jug a water) ironing board/iron, wardrobe with a few hangers and a free safe. Pool/beach - We did not use the pool so cannot comment. Spent most of our days at the beach. Beach when we arrived early March was pristine, talc like sand and turquoise waters. The second week unfortunately had an influx of sargassum seaweed. Absolutely no fault of the hotel just an act of nature, unfortunately some guests seemed to give hotel management a hard time regarding this, really unfair!! Drinks service at the beach was great as were the beach boys. Yes it is a marathon at 7am to reserve your bed but hey if you can’t beat them, join them I say 🤣. Loved watching the staff interact with the guests playing cricket on the beach, great fun. We did also snorkel here, fish on the nearby reefs. Be careful of the strong currents when doing so. Water warm and beautifully clear. Restaurants/Food/Drinks - We were unsure of how the booking of slots would go before we went. It actually went really well. We mostly ate in On the Water. Food including breakfast, lunch and dinner was lovely, a la carte we loved. Food excellently presented and very tasty 👏. Portion sizes just right for me. Wine was good, better than expected, cocktails lovely. Service was excellent. Always seated promptly. Shout out to all the staff we interacted with but big shouts to Sanchez, lovely girl, follow your dreams😍👏 , Rhodesia, keep smiling 😍👏 and David on the barbecue👏 Thank you 🤩 🙏 We did eat at The Noir once during our stay, lovely food and again well presented and tasty. However we felt the food at-the main restaurant a la carte was just as good so cancelled our second booking. Staff/entertainment - All staff from cleaners, gardeners, security, bar, waitresses, beach, front of house, what a great bunch of people. So welcoming and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Well done all and thank you all. Entertainment was live music at lunch time and evenings, there was rum tasting, quizzes etc , something on everyday. We did the quiz a few times and was rubbish at the flags (swot up on American/Caribbean flags if from Europe) we got 5/30 🤣 but the music one we won jointly with 25/26 “The good, the bad and the sloth”. Great fun. You know who you are losing just that 1 point 🤣 Trips - We booked our trips through Emerson on reception. We did a private island tour, snorkelling with turtles ( although no turtles playing that day) saw stingrays etc and also did the safari tour ( bumpy, bumpy, safari) this was our favourite, great fun 🤩 There is a supermarket at the roadside of the hotel entrance however if you turn left around 20 metres down the road there is a far cheaper one for everyday essentials. All and all a great wee hotel, thank you all 🇧🇧 and to new friends Ross and Charlotte x Best Wishes Sharon, Andy & Ronnie 🦥 x Read less
