Absolutely stunning panoramic views of the carribean sea! We're still here and don't want to come home! Everything about the hotel is fab and I really don't understand where the negative reviews come from? The food is fantastic the best we have ever experienced and we've stayed in a few 5 star hotels! If you are hesitant in booking this fab hotel then please don't hesitate any further. Go and book it you won't regret it. I was getting concerned after reading the reviews after I booked it. What a great surprise to get here and find this absolute gem of a hotel! Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about this place is wonderful. I don't normally leave reviews but I felt I had to about The Sands as it hasn't been sold enough on how truly special a place it is. Paradise!!!! Thankyou and we will definitely come back here!! The staff in this hotel never smile it’s as if they hate working there and have decided to walk around like zombies. The bar is too small for the hotel, there are not enough bar men/women so again a queue for the bar. After being there for two days we had problem with the toilet in one of our bathrooms, this problem was never fixed and the bathroom was locked by the maintenance staff so we couldn’t use it, two days before we were due to depart the toilet in the other bathroom decided to leak, I didn’t bother to report it. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody Read less

There are a lot of negative comments within these reviews, but in my opinion, many are unfounded or based on unrealistic expectations. This is a 4* hotel in Barbados, not the Ritz in London. Ok the reception area is a bit tucked away and perhaps not as welcoming as some hotels, but the staff were super helpful and friendly. Our room was huge, clean, comfortable and serviced regularly, the a/c was very effective, if a tad noisy. The guys on the bar work hard to serve a good selection of drinks. The food was without exception, of a good standard, of a reasonable portion size, served promptly and with a friendly smile. Staff were also happy to check ingredients or offer alternatives, such as making a starter up to a main course sized plate. Having to pre-book lunch and dinner was initially, we thought, a bit restrictive, but in reality it was never a problem, we often went in slightly earlier or later than booked, but this would obviously depend on demand at the time. The recently introduced bbq grill by the beach during the lunch/afternoon period gives those who need a top-up the chance to grab a burger or sausage in a roll before the afternoon tea service begins. The food and service in Noir restaurant was particularly good, although the ambiance of the room goes a bit flat when there are only a few guests in. The evening entertainment is quite repetitive in content but ok. The sea was on occasion a bit rough, but the beach was clear of sea weed and whilst sun bed reserving is not allowed, the policy is not enforced, however we always managed to get sun beds somewhere. Would I go back? - Yes but I would more likely go to a different Carribean island next time just for a different experience. Read less

We had a one bedroom apartment at The Sands for a week ahead of our cruise. The apartment was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided in our room and the shower was large with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The restaurant is on the beach overlooking the sea, it really is a typical Caribbean hotel, laid back and not rushed! Not perfect but perfectly acceptable for us. We enjoyed the food, more so the a la carte than the buffet but the omelettes at breakfast were superb. We liked not having to wear wristbands too. The evening entertainment was good as were the cocktails. The house wine was also perfectly drinkable and all served from bottles, not a tap which we’ve seen elsewhere. The speciality restaurant, NOIR, afforded us a fabulous meal but the restaurant itself was a little soulless compared to the beachfront one. Everybody has differing expectations of all inclusive hotels, some people didn’t like having to book times for lunch and dinner, we didn’t mind and if we arrived a little early we were seated without delay. The team members were helpful and cheerful. We never had an issue getting a sunbed by the pool and the towels were plentiful. We really liked the large balcony which had an airer on which we could dry swim wear. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Read less

We were very happy with our stay at The Sands Barbados. The hotel location is right on Worthing Beach - which is the most beautiful beach me and my husband have ever been to. It had the stereotypical white sand and light blue sea. It wasn't a private beach, it was open to public as well, which we worried could mean it would be too crowded but it was all good, and mostly only used by people staying at the hotel. The sea current / waves were quite strong sometimes throughout our stay - we had a mixture of calm walter / moderate (yellow flag up) and strong (Red flag up) conditions. Even with the red flag up, most people still swam but kept to the shallow part. We stayed for one week - when we first arrived the hotel didn't seem particularly busy, but by nearing the end of the week, it was a lot busier, but still manageable, there were enough beach loungers and didn't take too long to get drinks from the bar. We booked slots for lunch and dinner when we had breakfast so it was well organised. The food was nice - breakfast was our favourite, which was a buffet of lot of different options. Lunch and diner were a mixture of sit-down menu and buffet. I would say the food was a decent standard with a selection of choices. The drinks were nice, great selection of cocktails - I had a lot of pina coladas. Our room was the cheapest one you can get - the super saver room. It was clean and comfortable, great shower and working TV with good selection of channels. It was however very small and the only windows opened up on the corridor. We paid using a holiday package deal with Virgin Atlantic holidays and our cost was £1680PP for a week All inclusive. I think for the this price, we can't really complain about having a basic room, but if we had paid more (we did see some much higher prices for the same deal), I think we would have been a bit disappointed. Other rooms had balcony's, 2 floors and big windows which looked much nicer however I am sure they are a lot more expensive. If you are staying for a long time, they are probably worth having. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The hotel have a great vibe - the staff seemed happy and approachable. The hotel also had a gym which we used each day. It was adequate enough but some machines didn't work and were obviously very old. To be fair, I don't think many people came with the idea of using the gym so we were lucky to have it to ourselves mostly. Overall, we were really happy with our stay, and would recommend it to others. We would happily return and had a fantastic time. Thank you 'The Sands'! Read less
