The hotel

Whilst staying at Jamaica Inn, Winston Churchill swore the light was the best in the world for his watercolours. Jamaica Inn is one of the loveliest small luxury hotels in Jamaica. Now over 60 years old, it retains a gracious air of colonial Jamaica and attracts individuals and couples (some famous), who return on a regular basis. There is a wonderful, natural tranquility about this hotel and it has a lovely location on a private 700 ft white sand beach. Dining is on an outdoor terrace that adjoins the bar terrace. A more romantic setting is hard to imagine, and in keeping with the ‘Noel Coward’ lifestyle, there is a live band most nights. There is a cocktail terrace with a magnificent view and in step with its elegant classic approach, there is a dress code after dark. Bordered by an exquisite 700 ft-long beach, the hotel is in Ocho Rios on the tranquil North Coast of the island. All guest suites face the beach and the turquoise water. Each suite has a verandah or a balustraded balcony and many guests opt to leave the air-conditioning off and allow the sea breeze instead to do the work.

My family just returned from a glorious week at Jamaica Inn. This resort is set on a beautiful private beach and every room has stunning ocean views. The food is incredible - we enjoyed many barefoot lunches on the beach at the amazing Teddy’s Grill - and although it was a great casual atmosphere, the food and service were top notch! We also enjoyed many meals on The Terrace where we could dress up a little bit, socialize over a cocktail and enjoy a different menu every evening. The spa was dreamy - we enjoyed massages in the open air listening to the sounds of the ocean while getting very relaxing massages. We enjoyed the stunning beach filled with lots of snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. The beach attendants were fantastic - they made sure you were all set up with chair covers, towels etc. My daughter & her friend wanted to go snorkeling at a reef that was a bit far out and Ian, one of the attendants offered to escort them over and wait for them while they snorkeled - just to to keep them safe. The most amazing part of Jamaica Inn is the staff. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome and it did not take long for many of the staff to know us all by name. The staff created such a welcoming environment and it was contagious because then the guests get to know one another which is so refreshing! It is not surprising that during the week we were there, 70% of the guests were return guests. Thank you Gerry, Patrice, Samantha, Ash, Patrick, Williams, Quade & the rest of the Jamaica Inn family - we look forward to our next visit! Read less

Headed by Mrs Jackson the spa’s tranquil environment makes you feel relaxed upon arrival. The kind staff namely Ulanda, Marciah, Ann &Azeeza😁 made my wife and I experience an absolute dream. We were treated to a special called the Ocean Combo where we were given a fresh cleansing mock tail namely lemon grass ginger ice tea and a 50 minute massage. The therapist were soft, not just with their touch but the way they spoke before, during and after the session. We had a bottle of wine afterwards which complimented the evening. I highly recommend the Ocean Spa to not just guests of Jamaica inn but to any and everyone who needs to simply unwind, restart and refresh. Read less

I rarely write reviews but after our fabulous two-week stay at Jamaica Inn in early February I felt it was right and proper to acknowledge what makes this hotel so very special. The staff are truly exceptional. This was our first visit and we were aware that many guests had been returning to this glorious oasis of calm year after year. We were welcomed like old friends and, once our travel-induced coma had melted away, quickly and willingly embraced the enchanting ethos of the Inn. The setting is fabulous: a perfectly formed sandy beach flanked by luxuriant tropical gardens. A particular pleasure is watching and listening to the many species of birds that inhabit the garden and shoreline - pelicans and frigate birds are regular visitors. The accommodation is well appointed throughout and the style is understated sophistication that recalls the hotel’s fascinating history. Some nice touches: the weekly cocktail party, a chance to make friends; a complimentary rum punch before lunch on the beach at Teddy’s Bar; very relaxed and casual during daylight hours but a little more formal in the evening for cocktails and dinner on the terrace, accompanied by unobtrusive and accomplished local musicians; the owners always around for a chat and, finally, Shadow the black Labrador, a therapy dog for those of us missing our canine friends, always eager for a walk, swim or just a tummy tickle. I mentioned the staff and, though too numerous to mention, we fondly remember Ashalene, Williams and Patrick at the beach bar, all the guys on the beach looking out for our safety and insuring an immaculate beach at all times, Azeeza with the magical touch at the blissful spa and Samantha, the queen of cocktail hour. Thank you Jamaica Inn for a wonderful time, we really hope to see you all again. Read less

The Ocean Spa at Jamaica Inn is simply the best! I was fortune enough to enjoy massage and facial experiences with Kenneth - and both were outstanding. Never felt so good following a wellness service. And the setting is divine, directly overlooking the cerulean blue sea.
