Overall, the value and service was not there for us at The Grand. We have traveled to the Cancun area 10 different times, as well as other all inclusive resorts, and the service and consistency did not meet expectations here, compared to other places we have visited. The size of this place is massive, which provides a lot of choices but ends up being very inconvenient. It makes it difficult to be spontaneous or explore because you need to use a golf cart or take a 20 minute walk to get from place to place. We found the food “fine” but certainly not exceptional. Our best meals were probably the poolside lunches we had — We wished there was a broader menu for pool food. Breakfast buffet was as expected from any AI in the area. However, many items were not fresh and there were bugs/flies all over the bread station. Our best dinner was at Tavalo and we had fabulous service there. We had mixed reviews of JC Steakhouse, Circus, Jade, and La Cantina (some enjoyed, some did not). Le Chateaux had some definite service slips, and our group did not enjoy Carvao and Momo Teppanyaki. Although staff was kind and we always go out of our way to be gracious guests, we became frustrated when day after day there were service mistakes. For example, reservations were miscommunicated, we had significant maintenance issues in our room, and information shared with us was incorrect. We have never had a resort experience where there were so many “misses” and while we tried to roll with it, it did pile up leaving us frustrated. There was no attempt to make a customer service “save” either, like we have experienced elsewhere and sometimes not even an acknowledgement or apology. For a resort that tries to position itself as “luxury”, it’s missing that crucial customer service aspect. Drinks were fine. Around the pool, they use a lot of mixes/concentrates. I missed the “freshness” of craft drinks we have enjoyed at other resorts. Drinks are better at dinner and drinks were very good at the Library speakeasy. We enjoyed our rooms and space. Beds were firm and comfy. Believe the other reviews that state the floor is slippery…. I went in knowing this but still managed a slip that left me with a huge bruise on my leg (not the resort’s fault, but just a fair warning for folks). We did find a scorpion inside our 4th floor room on our final day as well (again, these things happen in a tropical climate and it’s good to be aware and shake out any clothes left on the floor) Overall, we would not look to return and would look into other AI’s in the area that have a smaller footprint and a better focus on customer service. Cusco restaurant. Employee Martin has been very good during our first week. Favourite restaurant for breakfast. Also Antonio waiting on us at the Cusco pool has been very attentive and friendly. I have to say that all of the staff display the standards that are expected from Palace Resorts.

Don’t get fooled into membership and in particular diamond membership. We are diamond members who can easily become residence but continue to be disappointed with the quality of service. We checked in today and still haven’t received a room at 6:15 pm with no idea of when it will be available. Apparently it was known that work is going on but no one bothered to give us a hospitality suite at 4:30pm when we asked. Last trip in August 2024 was below expectations on food and quality as well. Don’t get fooled by their brilliant sales people. We regret upgrading. Read less

I truly enjoyed the drinks that Alejandro Rosales made for me! He is so sweet and welcoming! You can tell he enjoys what he does and that he works hard to make his customers feel great customer service! I truly enjoyed my time there at the main bar at the entrance as he made us have a wonderful experience!
