Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat

St Lucia, Caribbean

The hotel

On the site of the oldest cocoa plantation in St Lucia, the Rabot Hotel is definitely one for the chocoholics amongst you! Having said that, for the rare being that doesn’t delight in the dark stuff, this is pretty wonderful too. In a stunning location, with magnificent views of Gros Piton, luxurious mountainside lodges combine relaxed St Lucian charm with the ultimate in contemporary sophistication. Echoing the rich tones of freshly harvested cacao, dark woods exude cosy warmth with four-poster beds, a rainforest shower and freshly made chocolate treats (of course!) definite highlights. The spa too utilises the area’s natural treasure with a variety of creams, oils and scrubs, all made on the premises, specifically designed to harness the rejuvenating powers of the pod! You can even learn to make chocolate yourself at the Tree to Bean experience – truffle anyone? If you’re a foodie, you’re in for a serious treat at the Rabot Restaurant. Start the evening with a delicious mango, chilli and white chocolate margarita before perusing the delights on the menu, which is pioneering to say the least, exploring both the savoury and the sweet nature of chocolate. Fresh seafood is also to be found in abundance, accompanied by the finest of wines for an experience that is nothing less than sublime.

Property is stylish, food is very good, but the service in the restaurant is inconsistent. On three occasions we waited over an hour for food. If we didn’t speak up, it might not have come at all.

One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever been to. Waking up every morning to the view of the pitons from your balcony is truly surreal. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask, they made our time here feel very special. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask, they made our time here feel very special. All the food was incredible, we tried the majority of the menu and it was all superb. We were curious about the addition of cacao to each dish in some way and can say it all worked exceptionally well, every dish was delicious. Couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly, truly is a bucket list hotel. Will never forget our stay here. Read less

We had a great time. Nice views. Loved the gardens and the hiking trail around Rabot Lake and through the cacao trees. Many of the trees have signs so you know what you are looking at. The redneck palms are stunning. Tasting the cacao pulp was a great experience for a chocolate lover. We enjoyed the cocktails from the bar which use the cacao… Read more

The hotel is in a good central location near some of the best beaches and attractions. The hotel receptionist was excellent with arranging for transportation either by shuttle or taxi. Read less

Our room made it feel like we were staying outside — you can hear the sounds of the birds, rain, etc. It was so peaceful. The infinity pool is great; we spent plenty of time relaxing there and enjoyed lots of good food during our stay. We took advantage of some of the excursions the hotel offers (boat tour, snorkeling, nature trails, etc) and had a lot of fun. Lastly, the staff were all so friendly and accommodating. They genuinely want to make sure you enjoy your stay there, and it shows. I would recommend Hotel Chocolat to anyone, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Read less

Superb rain forest location, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfasts. Bedrooms are individual lodges and are not air conditioned though this isn't a problem due to the design and location. Be prepared for visits from the local bird and insect life - mosquito nets are provided for the beds. Lots of wonderful walks around the plantation.… Read more
