I made arrangements with my mother to fly to Singapore and stay for couple of days as I was passing by to celebrate her birthday at the prestigious and renowned Raffles Hotel Singapore.Booking was booked 2 months advance and twice confirmed. As we arrived at the lobby, No ones manning the reception so my mother, 80 y.o.using a stick , waited for at least 10 minutes and when she can’t stand anymore she decided to sat on the couch nearby. Finally someone assisted us and show our table, I was disappointed cause i requested for nice table with a good view but we were seated at the corner. The waiter came and presented us with the few choices of teas not much choice cause when I asked for Roiboos tea it wasn’t available. The sandwiches are limited for only 3 slices and we were not told for any top up. The scones was microwaved and not fresh.very disappointing. One can tell if it’s microwave because It was tepid, hard and it looks and taste uncooked inside- disappointed. I’m a season afternoon tea goers- and when I asked the waiter, he said, Sconces was not a Singaporean favourite food so it’s not at par- but I said, people comes to Raffles and paid expensively for tea and scones and it’s not up to standard. I used the facilities which was located outside near the fountain and I was flabbergasted to find it dirty with excrements on all the cubicles. I am shocked that Raffles renowned for its quality but even the basic facilities like lavatory wasn’t staffed and unclean. I won’t recommend it , it’s overrated, expensive and substandard.

Suite was absolutely beautiful with everything you could possibly need.
Surroundings are tranquil, despite being surrounded by busy roads and tower blocks. The old colonial style is still very much apparent and has been maintained, whilst adding all modern amenities.
The main strength, however, lies with the wonderful staff, who are so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble.
Was supposed to be a once in a lifetime visit, but who knows……..
