It was a bit unclear where and how to collect your boat transfer from but if you go with the flow it all works out. The setting of the Hotel is luxurious. We had a 3 bed beach front villa and the pool was gorgeous. Unfortunately the first night was ruined as due to the location being next to the bar/restaurant and they decided to do maintenance work stating at 11pm. After complaining to reception this stopped by 2am. The next day they confirmed it will have to continue and offered to move us to a new location and as compensation added All Inclusive to our package. Unfortunately these types of things do happen and it is how people respond that is important - this was a perfect compromise and meant we finished the last 3 days of our holiday in luxury with great food and drinks. (In fact the new Villa was better than the first one) Overall we had a great stay and the boat transfers worked seamlessly so we could go on the trips we had organised. The location also allows you to walk around the local village and there a a couple of nice beach bars / restaurants that you can visit to have a cheap drink and food and experience a different vibe Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Is it 5 star - I don’t know, neither do I care. It’s a wonderful hotel. Full of great staff.

Personally I don’t take much notice of star ratings - they are often very subjective. All that matters is did you enjoy the experience - and yes we did. Personally I don’t take much notice of star ratings - they are often very subjective. All that matters is did you enjoy the experience - and yes we did. Like all hotels there are things that could improve, the more popular restaurants could do with more staff, but the staff that are there, are accommodating and friendly. The Japanese restaurant and Mediterranean restaurants stand out, but they are quieter and is suspect this is something to do with not being fully in the all inclusive package. The beach is not the most picturesque in Thailand, but still remains wonderful. If you do your research you will know this. The food in the hotel has been excellent. Lots of choice. We didn’t take the all inclusive package so, possibly a slightly more expensive option but it gave us plenty of choice to have what we wanted and when. The local restaurant at the end of the beach is also wonderful. Incredible seafood. The trips are worth doing, Ron and his team take care of you and the Phi Phi islands are beautiful if not very popular. We stayed in one of the refurbished villas, having been upgraded, the villa was lovely. Very clean. The gardens around the hotel are very well kept and the gardening staff are very visible always trimming, cleaning and even brushing the beach. Is this 5 star, I don’t know and I don’t care. Is it perfect, probably not, but they are doing their best to improve where they can. We had a wonderful stay. Special shout out’s to Ron, First (who checked us in) and Gie in the beachside bar. Image of the Tripadvisor rating A Terrible Experience at Barceló Coconut Island Phuket - Definitely Not 5-Star Quality!

I had high expectations for my stay at the Barceló Coconut Island Phuket, given its 5-star rating, but it was an utter disaster from start to finish. This place is far from the luxury resort it claims to be. The boat transfers were an absolute nightmare. Since the hotel is on an island, you’re at the mercy of their boat service to get to and from the mainland. But don’t expect any convenience or professionalism. The boats were overcrowded, always late, and there was zero communication from the staff about delays. We had to wait over 30 minutes to get on the boat upon arrival, and for the return trip, we waited over an hour. It was frustrating and chaotic — not what you expect from a supposedly 5-star hotel. When we finally checked in, things didn’t get any better. The check-in process was painfully slow, and despite having confirmed everything beforehand, our room wasn’t ready. The room we eventually got was disappointing: it had a damp, musty smell, the furniture was outdated and worn, and the air conditioning barely worked. This was not what I was expecting from a luxury resort. What really stood out was the staff. They were far from professional. Communication was terrible, and many of the staff seemed completely indifferent to our concerns. We had issues with the air conditioning, and despite multiple calls to the front desk, the problem was never properly addressed. The staff barely acknowledged our concerns, and when they did, they didn’t follow through on resolving anything. The so-called “private” beach was overcrowded, dirty, and noisy, with loud music from the pool area blaring all day. The pool itself was small and uncomfortable, with old, worn-out furniture. It felt like a budget hotel experience, not a luxury resort. The food was another disappointment. The breakfast buffet was cold, bland, and uninspiring. We decided to try the hotel restaurant for dinner, and it was just as bad — overpriced and tasteless food that didn’t live up to the hotel’s supposed standard. To make matters worse, when we checked out, we were charged for things we didn’t use, and the process took far too long to resolve. It was another example of how poorly run this hotel is. In short, Barceló Coconut Island Phuket is not a 5-star experience by any stretch. The terrible communication, unprofessional staff, overcrowded facilities, and lackluster food make it feel more like a budget resort than a luxury escape. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. This place does not deserve its 5-star rating. Read less

My partner and I couldn’t have been happier with our experience on the excursion to phi phi island, taken by Ron and his crew. Ron was absolutely amazing as well as the boys and captain who took ultra care and safety was their top priority. Despite how busy maya beach was, Ron organises a quieter beach stop off so you can relax/unwind and eat some lunch. Had we not been leaving the day after we would have done more excursions with Ron. We would have loved the option also at an earlier start time to beat the crowd. Nevertheless I recommend and would give above 5 stars. Read less
