They looked after us so well. Dean was our tour guide and he helped make our experience so special. The elephant experience was phenomenal and reassuringly ethical. Our stay at the lake camp was incredible! So beautiful with lots of wildlife, we even saw a wild elephant while on the long tail boat, and monkeys on the kayaks. It’s amazing how the team makes a tent so luxurious! All tents have a bathroom with a good toilet and shower. Food was excellent and the team provided lots of vegetarian options for us Read less

Elephant Hills was our first glamping experience. We booked the 3-day Jungle & Lake Camp Safari; other tours are available. It’s not cheap but it is great quality. Our tent at the elephant camp was actually one of a few on the second floor. We had a deck out front, a spacious tent, and an ensuite bathroom nicer than many hotels. There’s electricity and wi-fi. Our tent at the lake camp was similar. The bathroom wasn’t quite as nice but still more than adequate. Being right on the water was more cool than words can express. It was so fun being able to swim right from your door. There’s electricity but no wi-fi. And no phone signal, at least that I could get. It’s all-inclusive (except adult beverages and tips). All meals were buffet style in covered open-air structures. We liked all the food and there were several options. The bar at the elephant camp was more extensive; both had beer. Both locations are cash only and there’s no ATM, so come prepared. Drinks were more than we’d been paying, which we expected in such a remote location. One of the big conveniences is that they pick you up and drop you off. In fact you can’t drive yourself there. We got picked up at our hotel on Koh Samui and dropped off at our hotel in Krabi Town, saving us trouble coordinating that. Read less

We stayed here as a couple on our honeymoon. To give some perspective, we are in our early 30s and like to adventure a lot whilst on holiday (we usually walk around 15,000 - 20,000 steps a day on a holiday). We enjoy to walk in the evenings to a nice restaurant etc. We did the 3 night, 4 day jungle package (you stay in the main elephant hills camp and only do a day trip to the lake) and we were a little bored. The hotel transfers were very efficient and we arrived on day - at 11:00 however our excursion did the day didn’t stay until 14:00 so we had a 3 hour wait (with not much to do). On this day we then went on a kayaking tour down the river and then saw the elephants (for around 2 hours). We were also surprised to note that this is not a ‘sanctuary’ as we had been told the venue had won multiple ethical awards. The venues view is that as tourists come to see the elephants, they are used for tourism and therefore this is not a sanctuary but the elephants only ‘work’ is to be fed by the tourists. The second day was our least favourite day and involved an hour car ride to some mangroves, following by more kayaking and lunch and then a stop to a local market on the way back. The market only really sold local produce (mainly fish) so there was nothing for us to buy. We also got back to camp very early. The third day involved a day trip to the lake camp for more boat rides and kayaking. The fourth day involved a short (but tricky) hike in the jungle and lunch cooked on a BBQ in a small wooden shelter (this was the best food we ate at elephant hills). There is a LOT of down time as most days finish around 4pm or earlier and the next days excursion doesn’t start until 9am. This probably suits some people, but for us it was too much time with nothing to do. Once you are on the camp you cannot leave to go to a Restaurant etc. Our guides Mona and Min were amazing and very very knowledgeable and were always happy to help with any questions. They bought a great vibe to the group and we couldn’t have asked for more from them. The buffet lunch and dinners were nice and not too repetitive if you enjoy buffet food. The breakfast buffet didn’t have many options. Evening entertainment was a 30 minute documentary followed by 15 minutes of traditional Thai dancing. It would have been nice if the entertainment went on for longer or was maybe more interactive. Overall I would recommend this to people who like a slower pace and want to enjoy time reading or similar in the rainforest rather than going couples who wanted more of an adventure with jam packed days.
