The hotel

The first island you’ll hit as you drive through the keys is Key Largo, most famous for it’s watersports with reef snorkelling, diving, and glass bottom boat tours out of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park as must-do activities. Neighbouring the state park you’ll find Playa Largo set on 14.5 acres of secluded shoreline, providing your own piece of paradise to stay whilst exploring this part of Florida’s famous archipalageo. The private beach is the only thing between you and the sparkling waters of Florida Bay, where you can enjoy a range of watersports right from the hotel as well as venturing out to nearby attractions (of which there are plenty). There is a laid-back feel to the resort, perfectly in keeping with the area, but that doesn’t stop the facilities and service being up to standard. From a beach shack restaurant to a ceviche bar, all tastebuds are catered for, La Marea is a particularly great choice for locally sourced seafood and freshly handmade artisan breads and pizzas. When you’re seeking serenity after all the activity, book in at Ocean Spa where you can try specially formulated scrubs using coffee grounds, sugar, and salt. The top class service doesn’t end when you get to your room, an iPad is on hand to offer on-demand services to ensure your stay is up to scratch.

We always choose an Autograph Collection hotel for our anniversary trip & they never disappoint! They’re beautiful & the staff is always so eager to make magic happen! They gifted us desserts & wine in our room when we arrived along with a handwritten card with best wishes for us on our 35th wedding anniversary! They even helped me to arrange the singers to surprise my husband with “our song” which is ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton. Gaby & Milly did an AMAZING job on it! They stayed in constant contact with me to be sure we could make this happen. If you need someone to do a perfect job of performing for you, don’t hesitate to book them! The grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are spectacular, & the sunset views are breathtaking! Read less

I’ll start be saying that overall Playa Largo is a decent resort. The grounds are lovely and we did manage to enjoy our time there. Our stay got off on the wrong foot unfortunately so it just tainted our experience from the start. We had booked an oceanfront room with a balcony and upon check in were told there was a problem with the air conditioning unit and we were being moved to a room w no balcony and a lovely view of the parking lot. We were definitely disappointed having just arrived to the beautiful Florida Keys from the cold Canadian winter. Besides that, I’d say the hotel is average on all other accounts. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable- altho they are looking a bit dated. The line to check in or speak to the front desk is painfully slow. The pools chairs are all taken up by 8am. And of course, drinks, coffee etc are incredibly expensive (many of those things you typically expect when travelling over the holidays). So there’s certainly a lot of room for improvement. Having said that, If not for the bad experience with check in/our room downgrade I would probably consider staying here again Read less

This was truly auch a beautiful resort, right on the edge of the ocean with a beautiful staircase leading into the sea. Very peaceful! I will definitely be returning here. The staff is so kind, attentive, and professional, especially Valentina and Yoly who helped me. I highly recommend coming here for your next trip!

Beautiful location and resort. Food and service were both excellent. Front staff was exceptional at solving any issues that popped up and definitely helpful having various airports to fly into. Great place to relax by the water and enjoy the sunset. Everything was clean and people were friendly.

Easily one of the best resort experiences I have ever had. We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was perfect for our little family of three. Easily one of the best resort experiences I have ever had. We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was perfect for our little family of three. This place lives up to their autograph collection status. Every staff member was kind and courteous and so accommodating. We had a toddler with us and they had everything we needed to make for a good trip. Its the kind of place you can go with a young family or go without the kids. The heated pool was clutch. It was too windy to take the small boats out, but that means we must visit again. On night one we passed a staffer making his rounds and were met with the biggest smile and greeting and it just set the tone for the whole trip. The staff at every restaurant were just phenomenal. I wish I remembered all of their names to thank them. Rollo and the other guys at the pool were on their game. The chicken wings at the pool bar were unbelievable, I am still daydreaming about them. Every restaurant on the property was awesome and the menus were stacked with amazing dishes. Shoutout to the housekeeping staff as well, they always made sure we had fresh towels and really went above and beyond. Read less
