The hotel

Set on the sands in Fort Lauderdale, the Pelican Grand Beach Resort is a perfect paradise. You can spend your days on the white-sand beach, floating around in the lazy river and zero-entry pool, and tasting the delicious seafood and ice creams. Your room has been decorated with the ocean in mind, and is a real retreat for you to return to. And when the evenings roll in, you can take a moment, and sit on one of the rocking chairs overlooking the beach with the soothing sound of the ocean waves rolling in the background.

Where is it

Directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach, overlooking a 500ft stretch of private beach. 3.5 miles from the dining and nightlife on Las Olas Boulevard. Transfer time from Miami International Airport: 45 minutes.

City Lights Rooms are 480 sq ft and have views of Fort Lauderdale, with 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 people.

Ocean View Rooms are 510 sq ft and have views of the Atlantic Ocean, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 people.

Seaside Suites are 632 sq ft and have a private balcony with views panoramic ocean views, a separate living room with loveseat sofa bed, and 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 children.

Superior Seaside Suites are as above, but are located on floors 9-11 with unbeatable ocean views, an enhanced beach experience including reserved lounge chairs, towels, umbrella and bottled water, with 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 children.

Valet parking $48 plus tax, per day (payable locally, subject to change). Bus stop outside the hotel for no.11 buses, taking you up Ocean Boulevard to other Fort Lauderdale beaches.

Best restaurant in FLL for breakfast. You are, literally, right on the beach - killer views. Excellent food, beautifully presented and well priced with large portions. Our waiter, Renford, was super engaging and informative - made the meal special! Fabulous service makes all the difference.

Rea was an excellent waitress during our dining experience, and Kerline was incredibly patient and friendly at the ice cream shop while my kids requested taste samples. Carlos and Marco were great as well. Overall, the service was excellent. However, the room could have used better maintenance. The toilet paper holder was loose, and the sliding barn door to the bathroom was not installed properly, which offered little privacy. Overall, I highly recommend The Pelican Grand and plan to visit again in the future. Read less

Negatives: Beds aren't the most comfortable, very lumpy and squeaky everytime you move. Walls are thin...heard someone sneeze next door. Positives: check in and out was easy, view was so good, rooms are very big. Dining was great. Beach looked wonderful.

Hotel is not as nice as pictures. Room was runned down and old. Cracked shower tiles. Chipped paint on the walls. Also extra fees that where not disclosed they only have valley parking that is overpriced. Go somewhere else. The only good thing is it smelt nice ans the lazy river.
