Esme Miami Beach

South Beach, Miami

Star rating

The hotel

Bringing an edgy yet sexy Espanola vibe to South Beach, Esme is a hotel come “village” that offers a fun and sophisticated place to stay to enjoy the best of Miami. There’s no doubt that the rooftop deck is the place to be here. Chill at the pool by day, whether it’s in the water or on the very ‘instagrammable’ day beds. As the day draws to a close, enjoy a sundowner from The Roof Bar and soak up the music. Live DJ sessions carry on into the night on Friday’s and Saturdays so you can celebrate the weekend in style. There’s plenty of other bars and restaurants to enjoy at Esme, make sure you book a reservation at the hidden Sushi Bar with only 12 prized seats so you can devour nigiri to your hearts content. As you walk through the buildings of the hotel you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Spain with the plant lined terraces and deep red tones, and then that glorious sunshine will hit you as you leave the lobby – where you’re just 4 minutes’ stroll from Ocean Drive and the beach itself. If you carry on down past the Versace Mansion (which we’d recommend booking into for lunch!) to the Art Deco Gift Shop, you can join a tour of the Art Deco district. Or make use of the complimentary bicycle rental from the hotel to explore Miami Beach at your own agenda. If it’s more down time you’re looking for, the hotel offers a beach service with towels and chairs too.

We stayed at the Ésme Hotel for 3 days and it was not a good experience. Although the hotel is classified as a 4-star hotel and is really beautiful, the staff is lost, clumsy, uninterested and rude. 1 - We arrived on a Tuesday night and the person who helped us was tired and confused, and we couldn't understand any of the hotel's instructions. In addition, they gave us keys that didn't work and we had to go back to the front desk to reactivate them. 2 - The website stated that we could send packages to the hotel. We did so, but when we arrived no one said anything about the arrival of our packages. On the 2nd day of our stay, we asked about it and they only returned with 2 small boxes that we had requested, ignoring all the others. We had to insist that they look deeper and deliver everything to us in full. 3 - The website stated that the hotel had a partnership with a nearby gym, but when I asked for the passes, they said that the partnership had ended a week ago because they had opened their own gym at the hotel. Although it was pretty and new, it was not as complete as the one offered on the website and, even though we asked nicely, they did not help us with this issue. 4 - for the sake of convenience, we thought about extending the reservation by one day so as not to have to change hotels for a single day (from Friday to Saturday). They had the nerve to charge $625, without negotiation, even though the initial reservation was around $200 per day. In short, as charming as it is, it is not worth the cost, not even close to being worthy of 4 stars. Read less

Average. Don't leave anything behind, because they will never call you back to tell you they have it! Seven hours later, I had to call them and no one has found it. When I told them it must be stolen then, then immediately send someone to look for it and said the room was yet to be cleaned. Three days later, still no response from them. cool. Rooms are cute, but small. Typical of Miami, though. Even the Capone suite was smaller than I expected. Bed was comfortable and location is convenient to the beach and some good places. Read less

My room had a leak in the ceiling and water was falling on the bed, I didn’t have hot water in the morning and the room phone didn’t work! It was a mess! I was moved to another room the next day and even though it didn’t have this issues, I could hardly fit in as it was ridiculously small! I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!! Terrible.

Book literally anywhere else in Miami Beach. Regardless of how nasty your room is, the noise, or a literal emergency they will not refund you. Book literally anywhere else in Miami Beach. Regardless of how nasty your room is, the noise, or a literal emergency they will not refund you. Other reviews say that they have had both cockroaches and mysterious black worm bugs that have not been dealt with. We also were escorted to our room, which could’ve been nice, but the employee was an intimidating older man so I felt uncomfortable with him literally being in my room. Overall, TERRIBLE hotel for the price. Our bed DID NOT have a bottom sheet or mattress protector. The room is big enough for one adult maximum as the mattress takes up the entire room. We had two nights booked and would rather take the financial loss of leaving a day early, and booking a new flight. My skin felt like it was crawling. I don’t even know if the bedding or towels were clean. The “rooftop” is actually the third floor, so if you’re on the second or third floor it feels like you yourself are on the rooftop. The staff are incredibly rude. Read less
