What a way to celebrate a birthday!

It really is a tropical paradise. We wanted somewhere special for us as a family to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday, and the resort did not disappoint. We spent our time snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking and pretty much just lazing about doing nothing, just chilling as a family and having lots of laughs and a great time. The resort is clean and tidy and the staff are exceptional, so friendly and polite. We were in block 22, which was around a 10 minute walk to the pool/restaurant etc, but we didn’t mind to be honest, as we loved being close to the house reef for snorkelling. We loved the size of the island and the fact that it never felt over crowded. On our daughter’s birthday we had dinner in the Italian restaurant (which was lovely and service was brilliant!) but the rest of the holiday we ate in the buffet restaurant as we preferred the variety. The staff work really really hard, they just don’t stop! The entertainment in the evening is good, and the sports bar is a nice place to relax (shame the games on offer don’t have all their pieces though!) The shop on site has some lovely jewellery/clothes and gifts, but it is a tad expensive, but saying that, they had essentials (such as plasters!) for which we were grateful when ours run out! Suncream and after sun is really expensive, so do take plenty before you go!!! I think our only gripe would be the mini fridge in the room. More variety would be appreciated! Small bottles of water, different beers, and some juices rather than all fizzy pop. Would definitely recommend and would return again! Read less

Nice venue for a peaceful holiday

A very peaceful week in the sun. Fabulous food and very friendly and helpful staff. We tried all the restaurants and all were good. I used the spa for a massage and a manicure. Perfect.

5th Visit and more booked

We were back at the Atoll for our 5th time in November. Not much to add to my previous reviews, as I think by this being our 5th visit, that says it all about how we rate this hotel. Again, we were given a warm welcome and a few extra touches for when we arrived at our room (again we got the one we asked for). Dhanuka at reception is first class and is so polite and helpful. He helps make our stay so special. Jessica, Singhe, Aminda, Supun, Kelvin, Dasun, Sanju and Samee that work the bars on both Atoll and Palace side do a fantastic job and always give you a nice welcome each day. Then you have the excellent restaurant staff where you have Hashini, Sandun, Firaz and Mary to name a few, that looked after us very well. Also Nandana who keeps everything in order between the entertainment area and Sports Bar, another great guy. Last of all, I cannot go without saying a big thank you to one guy that has such a big heart, that almost matches his smile. That person being our good friend Ashen. He is such a great guy to have around the place and is always smiling and having great fun with the guests. The French Boules we played almost every day with him were so much fun. We can't wait to come back again in the summer this year and then again in November. I hope that we get to meet some of the people we now class as good friends again and look forward to seeing their smiling faces. The staff at Riu Maldives are just something special. Read less

Beautiful just Beautiful

Wow Amazing Place Amazing Staff except for Management and reception very rude but ok when taking your cash! The rest of the Staff work hard always with a warm friendly smile on there faces ☺️ I went solo for 2 weeks and felt safe. The food was Very Good the drinks flowed everywhere was very clean. I was up most mornings for Sunrise felt a bit sad how guests treated this Beautiful island plastic cups beer cans plastic bottles rubbish and cigarette butts covered the island but as soon as it got light the staff where cleaning up and racking the sand it was disgusting to see how people act shame on you! I smoked while out there wasn't hard picking up my butts when leaving an area. So I had 2 rooms due to knee injury I was moved closer to amenities 2nd room would have had a beautiful sea view but palms were so overgrown you had to peak through only 2 huge leaves would have needed trimming to get the palms and sea view they should look from the rooms when trimming the pathway in-between island green areas was very overgrown and messy the gardening side of things could do with a vamp. The house reef was Amazing so many different fish and the little sharks are beautiful as they swim past your feet in shallow water the house rays were spectacular and around 4.30pm the bats come out they are huge. The Sunsets are like no other and the d.j comes out to play ambient music to it it was pretty special pinch me moment every time. went on the sunset cruise but the dolphins overshadowed that there was so many swimming right by the boat jumping showing off will never forget how special that was also done the snorkeling trip twice the first was good lots of fish and sharks second trip not so good. I also had a dramatic haircut from long to short bob it was done by Gotam I can honestly say it was the Best Haircut I've ever had Thankyou. My Favourite members of staff was Puja at the sports bar she was lovely in everyway and my Lovely Rosh when I couldn't sleep in the night I'd walk down to sports bar and chatted with Rosh what a Charming young man he is he will go far in life and if he was my Son I would be so proud. I was very sad to say bye we didn't have a proper Goodbye as he was rushed of his feet and I was going to get upset. I needed the on site Dr for my knee very nice but very expensive! The on site shop was expensive very expensive my items added to 163 dollars but total was 220 dollars that was serviced charge and taxes. The TUI reps cat and Antonio were Amazing very helpful and lovely people. Other than management and reception I have nothing to complain about and Thankyou to all of you for making my holiday so special. Take a snorkel and light for the sea at night the fish love it!
