The hotel

Renowned for its stunning turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant marine life, The Hotel Riu Atoll offers a tropical paradise getaway on the private island of Maafushi. Families travelling with children can take advantage of the resort's kids club, where little ones can participate in supervised activities, games, and crafts meaning parents can enjoy some leisure time. Where is it

Located on the private island of Maafushi, which is part of Dhaalu Atoll, and is connected to neighbouring Riu Palace Maldivas by walkway. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 40 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

264 ocean views rooms. All with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, complimentary WiFi access, satellite TV, kettle, mini-bar, bathrobes, hairdryer, and safe. Bathrooms include a shower and double wash basin.

Double Standard rooms have 1 king-size bed or two small double beds, a sofa in the lounge area, and a balcony with sea views, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

24-hour All-Inclusive: all meals and snacks. Local and imported beverages served 24-hours a day. Regularly restocked mini-bar. Sports, activities and entertainment unless otherwise stated.

Recently returned from a wonderful holiday at the RIU Atoll and Palace resorts. The arrival and departure procedure ran very smoothly. The resorts are exceptionally clean and full praise must go to the gardeners and janitors for keeping everything clean and tidy. We had Overwater Villas (3022 on Atoll and 034 on Palace) in both resorts and they were fantastic. Both villas were positioned for sunset views. We upgraded to the Palace resort for the final few days of our holiday. Housekeepers were excellent every day and we particularly liked the towel art and reed designs on the bed. Regarding food and drinks we started our holiday on the RIU Atoll island and the buffet restaurant and Sofia restaurant had very good food Buffet had a wide range of choice including a good selection for vegetarians. Bars on both islands were excellent, limited cocktail menu but if they had the ingredients the bar staff would make other cocktails. All the staff were excellent and made our stay very special in particular we would like to mention Aminda, Sanju, Pash, Desy, Puja, Humam, Risma, Roma and Amanda who were very attentive. This hotel is amazing. The food is good and changes regularly enough that you don’t get bored. Ot would be better if there was some sort of late night hot food service. You can get not very appetising looking sandwiches and biscuits only in the sports bar after 10pm. In the buffet restaurant your glass rarely gets empty, it’s constantly refilled and the waiting staff are spot on. The staff in general are very friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily and well and the mini bar refilled each day with soft drinks and beers. The pool was clean but we preferred to spend our time on the fabulous beach. We had a beachfront ground floor room which I would highly recommend even above the over water villas. Walking out of your back doors on to a beach is like a dream. You are only a few steps from the sea too. With the over water villas you have a bit of a walk round to the beach in comparison. The sports bar was nice, air conditioned and 2 pool tables. We sometimes had to wait but always got a game eventually. The bar staff will make any drink you request. We had a massage in the spa. My husband enjoyed his deep tissue massage but I wasn’t impressed by the Thai foot massage where my feet were only actually massaged for about 10 mins the rest of the time was spent on my thighs. I also had a neck, back and shoulder massage which left me in pain for a few days after. We did the snorkelling trip which was good and the group jet ski deal. If you can afford to do the private jet skis I would suggest you do as you can only travel as fast as the slowest person in a group trip and we had a very slow couple which kind of ruined it for us. Especially as it isn’t cheap! The grounds are kept beautifully and there is a buggy that drops you up and back from the bar in the evening if you time it well. The entertainment was just ok, mostly live music not a lot of interactive activities in the evening. I just have one major issue with this hotel which prevented me giving a 5 star review and that is the lack of fresh juice at the bars. It must cost a hotel a maximum of £1 a day per person to buy a couple of cartons of fresh juice for each person per day on average. Especially in Asia and when buying in bulk. I would happily pay an extra £20 for fresh juice on top of the holiday cost. I don’t want squash or watered down horrible juice on holiday with my cocktails or spirits it ruins the experience especially when you pay a lot of money on a fancy holiday to the Maldives. I know this isn’t the only hotel that does this but usually you can buy drinks in a local supermarket if you need to but you can’t do that on an island in the Maldives you are stuck with what’s on offer. Приятно, что нет "вымогательства" чаевых. Оставляешь только по своему усмотрению, если не оставить -никакой дискриминации не будет. Удобное приложение у отеля где можно заказать то чего не хватает в номер, посмотреть расписание активностей. Риф у отеля вполне живой. Можно увидеть разных рыбок, рифовых акул, несколько раз видели скатов. Неплохая вечерняя программа. Мы жили в 15ой вилле. - это по середине острова. Минут 5 легкой ходьбой до ресторана. 4 минут до бассейна. 1 минута - до океана, если просто выйти из номера )))) Минибар пополняется каждый день, Wi-Fi бесплатный, скорости хватает Есть возможность бесплатно взять каяки, сап борды..выдавать начинают после прилива (время меняется от 10 утра до 13) Замечаний нет. Если придираться, то: Нет музыкального канала 😄 У кондиционеров в номере осушение не работает, только холод. Если ставить выше 22- будет влажно. В барном меню указан егермейстер, но почти всегда - вместо него наливают аналог. Не критично. Есть магазин с одеждой, солнцезащитным средствами, сувениры. Цены обычные для островов. (Магнит 10$) Без английского не пропадете - сразу по прилету в мале везде водят буквально за руку и сопровождают до острова. В отеле есть пара русскоговорящих сотрудников. Но с персоналом, естественно, лучше инглишь. Read less
