We have just returned from a 10 day break at this amazing resort!! This was our second visit at the resort and obviously we were a bit sceptical of visiting the same resort twice but we needn't of been as the second time round was even more sublime! From check in to check out the whole experience is nothing short of outstanding! The attention to detail of service from all areas of staff, housekeeping, bars and restaurants is excellent and definitely warrants its 5* status. We would like to thank a few staff members that made our holiday that little bit special: Rahul - Head chef cannot do enough for you and very skilled, butter chicken to die for. Nahid - If you know you know this guy does the best naan you have ever had hands down! Sridhar - Pastry chef - made our favourite derserts for us and doesn't stop smiling ! Beni and his team - Top service, pure cocktail skills and lots of laughs and smiles 24/7 ISIRU - What can I say mate thank you so much for everything, you made my holiday you absolute legend! And of course Jenni who oversees the whole resort and will ensure you are very well looked after catering for all your needs. It seems all the staff have worked in high end resorts previously and have been cherry picked for this resort to come together and provide the wonderful experience that it is. We went to Oblu Select Sangeli to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary for 10 nights from 18th March. We spent a long time picking a resort that we hoped would meet our wish list of requirements - speedboat transfer under 1 hour, water villa with pool, good snorkeling from the beach/water villa and AI with a good food and drink offering. Sangeli surpassed all our expectations - we had a really fantastic holiday. From arrival at the airport to our sad departure back to the airport at the end of our stay it was clear that the aim of all the staff is to ensure all their guests have a memorable stay. We had already downloaded the Sangeli app and checked in prior to arrival. We had also already requested our preferred times for restaurant bookings, spa treatments and experiences which we could check on the app and amend on arrival if necessary (it wasn’t). Following a very lovely welcome off the speedboat, we were taken by golf buggy for a quick tour of the island by Mika and then on to our water villa with pool which was spacious with a fantastic sunset view and in our ideal location. For the next 10 days we were then thoroughly spoiled. All the staff were amazing, every single one greeting us with a smile and eager to help, but we would like to single out a few who helped make our stay so special. Firstly Sikdar who looked after our room every day, twice a day. Always working around us and whatever time we went for breakfast and dinner each day, leaving some fantastic towel art and checking every day if there was anything we needed. In addition our mini-bar was re-stocked daily and having asked once for rose wine (red and white are provided as standard) we were brought a bottle of rose prosecco everyday thereafter. We are sorry we didn’t get the name of the mini-bar man (room 517) but we really enjoyed relaxing with our rose wine every evening on our decking as the sun set. Thank you! Next we need to mention the amazing staff in The Courtyard restaurant who work tirelessly every day. In particular Sea and Moe who always tried to sit us in our preferred locations, and Dibya and Edina who ensured our glasses were always full and table cleared, always with a smile despite it being so difficult to provide such constant great service in the heat. We even had a special goodbye tablecloth display on our last morning. Thank you! And the food cannot go unmentioned. It was a buffet with a very personal touch! We loved the special salads at lunchtime, the exceptional naans and currys prepared by Nahid and the special meals at lunch and dinner that my husband enjoyed (and I always sampled) created by Deepak. Not to forget the fresh fruit prepared by SM Rony at breakfast and we both enjoyed the freshly made omelettes (sorry we missed the omelette chef’s name). The desserts at lunch and dinner looked beautiful and tasted just as good. We also enjoyed one meal each at Just Wok and Just Grill which we really enjoyed and the food at both was very good, however we enjoyed the buffet food so much we actually cancelled our third booking. The food and drink offering was the best of any AI that we have been to and we have stayed in quite a number of 5 star All Inclusive hotels over the years. We also took advantage of the included spa treatments, we were so relaxed after each massage that we failed to remember our treatment ladies names - but we do thoroughly recommend the Spa! We also enjoyed the reef snorkelling and sunset fishing trips that are included experiences and well organised. Sadly we didn’t catch any fish but it was a nice way to spend an hour or so at sunset. Although we both enjoyed the snorkeling, it was my husband who had been looking forward to this the most and he ticked everything off his ‘to see’ wish list - turtles, rays, sharks, octopus plus numerous other fish. We had a sting ray that visited our villa most evenings and we knew when to expect to see the sharks and a particular highlight was the octopus who lived in the rock 3 doors down. My husband also did the additional manta ray trip organised through the dive centre. He was very fortunate to see 10 manta rays that trip and swim with them for quite some time. A definite highlight of our trip. Apologies for the very long review, but I wanted to convey just how fantastic our holiday was in meeting and surpassing all our expectations. We first visited the Maldives (but not Sangeli) 25 years ago for our honeymoon and really hope it won’t be another 25 years before we return. I highly recommend the Oblu Sangeli! Staff were amazing, snorkeling/reef were incredible, the Indian food station was delicious, the child care at the kids club was perfect, and Safwan made our trip with his attention to detail. For example, he brought food to our room when he knew one of our children slept through lunch. The sunset fishing and the house reef trip were unbelievably enjoyable. Overall I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Read less
