The hotel

Non-motorised water sports are included for 15 minutes a day, as is use of the over-water gym, so those who like to keep active will have lots to enjoy. This is a fun, lively island with lots going on including the daily DJ around the pool and live bands in the evening, but if you fancy making your stay even more special, why not head underneath it? Where is it

Located on Ailafushi Island in Male Atoll, and connected to the neighbouring island OBLU SELECT Lobigili by a 270m long jetty. Complimentary speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport on arrival and departure, taking approximately 15 minutes.

Hotel information

268 rooms, all with ocean views, in-villa WiFi access, safe, large flat screen LCD TV, cable TV, vanity, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, drinking water bottles, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and robe and slippers. Ocean View Rooms are snug, homey, duplex-style one-bedroom villas, smartly designed to maximise space and comfort, and with a veranda with comfy daybed. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Please note: resort check-in time is at 2pm, and check-out time is at 12 noon. Late check-out is subject to availability on the day of departure at an additional cost. The Fushi PlanTM privileges will stop at 11:00am on departure day.

Beach Villas are just a few steps from the beach, with a private outdoor veranda and garden, inviting interior, walk-in wardrobe leading to a spa-like bathroom, double vanity, and a semi open-air bathroom. With 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Water Villas stretch into the dazzling lagoon, and are accessed by wooden jetty. Each water villa is shaped like a traditional Maldivian Boat – a ‘dhoni’ – creating a feeling of a romantic hideaway. With a private deck, and a staircase into the water, and a semi open-air bathroom. 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Ocean Family Two Bedrooms are the same as the Ocean View Rooms, with the addition of a second bedroom with bunkbeds in a story book theme for children, 2 bathrooms, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

Element X (all-day dining, self-assisted buffet with international cuisine and show kitchens). X360 (main pool bar with scenic lagoon views, daily evening entertainment). The Copper Pot Food Truck (food truck with seafood and meat grills, open for dinner)*. Only BLU (under ocean restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Adult-only except for select lunchtimes when children are welcomed to dine)*.

We stayed for 5 days at the end of a two week holiday in Sri Lanka. We were expecting some restful luxury but this was not what we got. We had to wait 90 minutes for our transfer to the island as we had to wait for another flight. Although we had a perfunctory round of applause as we docked the check in was quite impersonal. Our beach front villa was very good, kept immaculate and with a great outdoor/indoor bathroom. The path at the side of our Villa was used as a public thoroughfare to the beach and we had little privacy. A disappointment, when we mentioned this at reception they were disinterested. There was no house reef but we were able to snorkel off the beach and saw many interesting varieties of fish. Beach shoes are essential due to the amount of dead broken coral though. The real disappointment was the all inclusive element, all drinks were served in plastic glasses and whilst I appreciate that this is sensible for the beach it is hardly necessary for the dining room. The dining area was large cavernous and canteen like . There was a large variety of cuisines which were tasty but everything was self service including drinks. It was certainly not a luxurious experience. There were other food options but these were at an extra cost not what we expected. The underwater restaurant was a very special experience and it made for a very pleasant and unusual birthday meal. The entertainment around the pool (foam party) and the bar , loud live music , karaoke etc were certainly not of a high quality and did nothing to enhance the holiday. The ‘Costa del Sol’ atmosphere was not what we expected of the Maldives. Read less

Negative - buffet food options are very limited. Indian food spread was surprisingly very good almost all days.. otherwise non Indian food was okay types. No food between 3-7pm except popcorn and peanuts along with drinks. - etiquette by serving staff at Main food hall can be little more with manners. ( Ex - Just checking with guests if they can pick up the used plate , throwing of used spoons and cutlery in a bucket in the same area loudly where guests are sitting for thier food can be absolutely avoided) - services(free Kayak, paddle boat) they tell you at the start are not available many a times. We tried for 5 days in a row.. they always had some excuse of not giving (as it was complimentary) - shuttle service is one of the lame services you see on the ground. Shuttle bus staff - absolutely rude, especially when they have one airline staff members coming every single day for their stay. Other guests at that time are nobody for them. Read less

The best part was the direct access to the crystal-clear water right from our terrace—we woke up in the morning and could dive straight into the ocean. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to fulfill any request. The room service was excellent; our room was always perfectly clean, and the minibar was replenished daily. The food was fantastic! The vast selection of dishes in the main restaurant amazed us; everything was fresh and delicious. Unlimited beverages, including drinking water, were a given. The entire resort was beautifully maintained and clean. It's evident they truly care about this. If you're looking for a place to relax with a touch of luxury, OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi is an excellent choice. Read less

What an amazing place for our first visit to the Maldives. The hotel is a 15 minute boat ride and the check in process is seamless. We stayed in an ocean family villa. The rooms were spacious and they provide robes and flip flops to use, which was great. We could access the beach easily and had a west facing room which meant that we were able to see the beautiful sunsets. The only thing about the rooms that could be improved is the flooring as there were areas where it was pealing off which I presume was from water damage. The beaches are great. They are cleaned daily to reduce the amount of coral that is on the beach but would suggest taking beach shoes. Although the hotel does not have a house reef, there is plenty of marine life to see. The best area to see this is on the beaches by the walk way leading to the gym or the beach area behind the water villas. Food was amazing, lots of variety in the Indian and Asian sections and desserts. Ashish, Praveen, Taj and Daven (pasty chef), Shri were all great and helpful and no request was ever too much as were all the wait staff. Anny, Joy and the animation team were great.
