The hotel

Infused with the charm of its sugar plantation past, this refined hotel retains its colonial style. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel occupies a delightful setting in the Bel Ombre nature reserve, in a tropical garden through which the Citronniers River flows. Suites are spacious, decorated in 19th-century style but with an impressive range of amenities and a resident host at your service. The Seven Colours Spa is a serene haven, with treatments to harmonise body, mind and energy. There are two lovely pools including 1 adult-only heated pool (coming soon in November 2024), with access to an additional pool at C Beach Club, water sports in abundance and two nearby championship golf courses. Guests have access to 13 restaurants and eight bars across the Domaine de Bel Ombre — there's a wonderful selection of dining at Heritage Le Telfair, including Annabella’s on the banks of the river with an interactive show-kitchen, and Gin’Ja serving Pan Asian cuisine on the beach. Treat yourself to a meal at Le Chateau de Bel Ombre, an enchanting 19th-century manor house, or head to the trendy lifestyle hotspot, C Beach Club.

Where is it

At Bel Ombre, on the mountainous south coast, surrounded by a nature reserve. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

158 suites on 2 floors, all with a resident host. All with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, balcony or terrace, flatscreen TV, telephone, complimentary WiFi, mini-bar*, tea-making facilities, Espresso coffee machine with three capsules, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. Deluxe Suites with 1 queen-size bed or twin beds, plus a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Room upgrades

Deluxe Sea View Suites are as Deluxe Garden View Suites, but with a sea view.

Deluxe Beachfront Suites are directly on the beach or on the first floor with a balcony, with panoramic beach views and 1 queen-size bed or 2 twin beds plus a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Junior Suite Garden View rooms overlook the lush gardens and river, and are on either the ground floor or first floor. With a canopy queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 infant.

Junior Suite Beachfront rooms overlook the beach and sea, from either the ground or first floor. With a canopy queen-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 infant.

Senior Suites are available with either garden views or sea views. With a separate living/dining area to the bedroom, a canopy queen-size bed, a dining table and sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Ocean Suite Beach Front rooms are on the ground floor only, with direct access to the beach. With a separate living/dining room to the bedroom, en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower. The bedroom features a canopy queen-size bed, and the living room a dining table and sofa bed. Sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children, or 3 adults.

Please note: a baby cot can be added on request. Children are classed as under 12 years.

New adult-only zone (available to book from 1st November 2024)

A collection of adult-only suites, located near the Serenity pool area, with added in-suite extras and resort privilages including:

- Dedicated Butler service offered within the heated pool adult-only zone

- Access to a Tiki Bar with F&B service and snacking (located on the beach next to the adult-only zone)

- Pool amenities: towels, sunglass cleaning service, fruit skewers, an ice chest (flavoured water served all day round), and an afternoon service of ice cream cups.

Priscilla on the beach kept the drink and food flowing- anticipating our needs and arriving with drinks when it was really hot. Nice place to stay. Large rooms, good restaurants and excellent staff who make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Everything well kept and clean. They really do everything they can to please guests, which makes we felt at home. Two very nice golfcourses of top quality.

This would be our 3rd visit to Mauritius. Our other 2 trips were to other golf resorts and the Heritage was always going to be a choice that couldn't be missed. All our holidays are based around golf and as a couple in their 70's we are looking for the relaxation around playing golf. We stayed on the Gourmet Bliss package within the Adults only section of the resort. From our initial arrival to our departure we were looked after perfectly by our Host, Priscilla. She was excellent and arranged a Dinner plan for our 10 days. The food in ALL the restaurants was excellent. We do have some minor complaints/criticism. We found in Annabella's the breakfast service was quite poor with the main criticism being that the waiting staff lacked attentiveness. Plus small things: like, no teaspoons with cup and saucer, soup spoons instead of a desert spoon. We had one night at The Chateau fine dining restaurant. As a 'fine dining' restaurant why were plastic bottles used for the still water?! (At other restaurants, O'Grill and Palmier used glass bottles for the water). The Gin'Ja restaurant portion of Nasi Goreng was fare to big and I couldn't eat it all. It was noticed the table next door also had a similar problem. Despite this it did not spoil the overall experience we had at ALL the restaurants. Our favourite, probably O'Grill. We would also like to praise Rishi and staff in the Cavendish Cocktail Lounge. They did a GREAT job each day/night we visited. The golf courses were FANTASTIC and the presentation of them a credit to the greens staff. The organisation and transport facilities to both courses are very well done. Housekeeping was also EXCELLENT with a continuous supply of goodies and the cleanliness maintained throughout. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and somewhere that we would recommend HIGHLY. Read less

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort in Mauritius, and it was an unforgettable experience. The resort’s pristine white-sand beaches and meticulously maintained pool areas provided a serene backdrop for our stay. We delighted in the diverse dining options, each offering exquisite culinary experiences that tantalized our palates. As avid golfers, we were thrilled with the resort’s exceptional courses. Le Château Golf Course, located closest to the resort, offered breathtaking views and a challenging layout. However, the highlight was La Réserve Golf Links, a contemporary links course that provided a mind-blowing golfing experience unlike any other. Initially, we encountered some service issues with the younger waitstaff in the restaurants. However, after discussing our concerns with Dominique, the General Manager, and his team, the issues were promptly addressed, significantly enhancing our stay. We found Josh, our resident host, to be attentive at every moment, and Joslee from the front desk went out of her way to offer great advice. Javed, the night manager, was such a star and even transported us in his personal vehicle to the golf course. What a great team you have! Overall, our time at Heritage Le Telfair was exceptional, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Dominique and his team for making our anniversary celebration truly special. Not forgetting Rodney Jansen from Flight Centre Cape Town South Africa for making all four resorts we visited in Mauritius during 2024 a most memorable experience, with everything going according to plan.
