Great week here in a seafront room with jacuzzi ( worth the bit extra). Nice layout with loads of space around the hotel, beach and pools to relax ; lovely staff (especially Begum are room maid); and really great food in all the restaurants. Complimentary snorkelling trip and other activities were a real bonus.

We are staying at this fab hotel to mark my 60th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary. We are glad we chose an oceanfront room. The balcony has 2 comfy chairs to enjoy the view. The room is fab with a mini bar you can stock from a shop, free with all inclusive. As I can’t get Coke Zero or Diet Coke I’m going with Diet Pepsi or any other diet drink. They’ve kindly given bath robes and an extra towel which is very much appreciated. The catamaran crew are fab and fun, attentive bringing drinks and snacks. Sadly a lady partly ruined our trip by making phone call after phone call to her family standing right next to us. There was nowhere else relaxing to sit and she wasn’t even looking at the view. All the staff are attentive and give excellent service each and every day. The lunch buffet today seemed lacking in fish choice but had tons of salad. Desserts are gorgeous. The resort offers so many super pools and options to sit, all kept clean and tidy. The free sun cream is great but very heavy. The water filling stations are brilliant with still and sparkling cold refill always available. Cocktails not the best I’ve had but tasty and adequate. There are so many positives for us in a quiet resort but with music in the evenings. Options on where to sit. Amazing lovely staff. We have borrowed their wheelchair kindly lent to us. I’m going to send a few ideas to help the disabled access but it’s not bad at all. Just my poor husband exhausted from pushing me around!! I cannot find anywhere to hire a powerchair in Mauritius. We stayed the last week of January, this was after a previous stay in December 2023 when we then gave the hotel 5 stars and thought it was heaven. It is difficult to score as 2 stars would represent food and service and 5 stars for everything else. The hotel is still as nice as ever, the seaview room was excellent and so to was the hotel grounds and beach area. What was not so good was the food and service in the le Bénitier restaurant which had deteriorated so much from our last visit. The food selection had been reduced dramatically (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and on several occasions food dishes had run out. It seemed that it was a cost cutting exercise. There was so much shredded food (cabbage, carrots, beetroot etc.) and tons of salad items, but all the nice foods had disappeared (smoked salmon, prawns, cheese etc.). Service was ok to poor, often getting a waiters attention was difficult and asking for tea at breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening even more so. The wine is close to battery acid so a couple of glasses is more than enough. The staff seemed harried and it seemed at times they were short-staffed. This was again so when getting served drinks either after dinner around the pool area or during the day from the pool bar. Again not enough staff requiring guests to get up and go and find a waiter or go to the main bar for service. On one occasion we were taken to a table in the Le Bénitier and when we had been seated, a second waiter approached us and asked why were we sitting at this table as it was reserved for another guest, he was quite rude but and we put it down to be so short-staffed. We decided to have a meal in the Kot Nou restaurant and that was even worse, the food was tasteless and tepid, so disappointing that we decided not to try it a second time. The hotel is not all bad, the evenings entertainment was marvelous, the welcoming smiles from staff and the ambience of the hotel. Will we be returning -NO. Simply there are too many excellent hotels on Mauritius and we would not take the chance again of returning to this hotel for fear of a repeat of our poor food and service experience. We left this hotel and spent a further week at Salt of Palmar hotel which we gave 5 stars to, as it was faultless. Sorry Mr Ruben but it just was not as good as the year before. Read less
