Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem

The hotel

As well as the superb service, snazzy décor and tasteful touches you’d expect from a Waldorf Astoria, you may just agree that this hotel tops them all. It’s historic and classy. It’s timeless and relaxed. And even though you may be keen to explore the Old City and all that’s happening just outside, why not grab a fresh coffee first and take in its loveliness from the glass-roofed atrium. If you’re feeling peckish, the food is inspired, from huge breakfast buffets to tasty afternoon teas. In summer, head up to the leafy rooftop garden for al fresco tapas – the views from up here are something else.

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve stayed at this hotel over the past decade but I’ve been here for Pesach, Shavuot, Sukkot and numerous Shabbat stays. I was also here in March of 2024 and it was definitely quieter post October 7th. I was pleasantly surprised that during our stay this past week the hotel seemed pretty busy, with excellent service and it was packed over Shabbat. I can’t remember her name but I had a super sweet lady at both check-in and check-out and her service was flawless. We ate a couple of times at the dairy cafe and the food was excellent. The breakfast was amazing as usual and since our flight out was very early they proactively offered to prepare us breakfast boxes to take with us and they had them ready and waiting at checkout. I’ve stayed at a number of hotels in Israel and I truly think the Shabbat dinner at the Waldorf is by far the best I’ve ever experienced anywhere in Israel (and probably the world). I always loved that instead of a buffet, they served a sit down dinner with numerous fish, soup, entree and dessert options and they still have all of those things. They have now ALSO added numerous buffet stations with made to order sushi rolls, carving stations, a fish and salads buffet section and also numerous other offerings to keep everyone happy like meatballs, schnitzel, couscous and super yummy pulled beef Bao buns! If you are at all wondering whether it’s worth travelling to Israel, Jerusalem and the Waldorf Astoria in particular, please don’t hesitate as they are open for business and better than ever! I sent an email before my arrival and within 45 minutes, Gilly confirmed receipt of my email and Ihab approved our special requests. Had a smooth check-in by Alexi from the front desk and he assisted me from the minute I stepped in to the gorgeous Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem lobby until I was completely settled in my room. Great to see George, the smiling Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem doorman back at the Hotel with his warm welcome for every guest. I have been going to hotels over 40 years, yet I have never met a professional, dedicated and caring person such as Maamoon, the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Maitre d’hotel. Thank you to Hassan, Hanna, Malek ,Taysir who remembered our custom requests from our prior visits to the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem Hope to be back home at the Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem very, very soon. My friend and I enoy eating out in Jerusalem. We have often discssed doing breakfast but couldn't decide among the many choices availablle. Today we decided to go to the much talked abot Waldorf Astoria.. We made reservations for 8:30 AM and arrived early at this stunning property situated near the historic Old City. The breakfast area is adacent to the capacious lobby and has a simple elegance that evokes an earlier hotel on this site from the time of the British administration. We were greeted warmly and paid upfront for an all inclusive meal that includes all beverages and entrees in addition to a sumptuous buffet..Knowing that we could eat and drink to our hearts content took away the concern about add-ons that sometimes mount rapidly. We started with large cups of cappuccinos and ordered an omlette and eggs Benedict. There was a large selection of breads in one corner, a bar and dessert selection in the middle area and an entire room filled with hot dishes, fish, salads and fresh fruits to name a few selections. Israeli hotel buffets are famous and this ranks up with the best. Added to this was the personal service provided by the courteous wait staff. I wish I could name them all. We had a smiling young Israeli woman , a man of my age from Spanish Morocco, a new immigrant from Russia and a legion of helpers who whisked away our used dishes discretly.. We indulged in French toast at the end and toasted our meal with champagne (included). Overall the ambience , the quality and quantity of the food , and the open hospitality made this a memorable experience.. As my friend remarked after mingling with guests and staff alike we experienced a vibrant slice of Israeli life at an otherwise turbulent time. Hats also off to the kitchen chefs and staff for the presentation and tastiness of the incredible array of food and drink. We will be back again soon when visitors return to Israel.. Read less

We took a short break to visit Jerusalem, and enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf. Amazing architecture, great service, very spacious rooms, and outstanding breakfast. The Spa area was well maintained, the heated indoor pool was very inviting.
