A very "fine, I guess," experience. The room is fine, check-in and check-out went smoothly (sort of - more on that later). But it's just not a great value for the money. A very "fine, I guess," experience. The room is fine, check-in and check-out went smoothly (sort of - more on that later). But it's just not a great value for the money. The rooms are pretty small, and even for double beds it's quite expensive. The amenities are pretty meager offerings - you get a big TV, sure, but the coffee maker is very poorly stocked if you happen to have more than one person in your party who likes a hot drink, and the cooler in the room technically can't be called a fridge, so you're taking a gamble if you want to leave your leftovers there. There are no complimentary offerings of food or drink in the lobby, just vending machines and expensive (and mediocre) cafe/restaurant/bar faire. The bar staff was attentive, at least. We also had an issue with check-in/check-out where we asked to split the bill between two cards and were told both before and during our stay that they could do so - but they ended up just charging everything to one card anyway. Annoying. The hotel is clean, it's fine, it's serviceable, but it's so expensive. You're paying a hell of a lot for an okay view and, in our case, direct access to the convention center. But there are a lot of hotels in the area, and I can imagine most vacationers will have other things they want to spend that extra money on. Read less

The rooms were nice and clean and had great views. They had a great selection of food downstairs at the marketplace, we had pancakes and a breakfast sandwich and both were very good and you got a good amount four price. They also had lots of snacks and beverages to choose from.

We had an amazing experience staying at the Hyatt Regency for the ALA convention. The staff and employees were always kind and helpful and made our stay so much better! This hotel is a must if you’re attending a an event or convention at the Long Beach Convention Center!

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach during New Year's week. The hotel's main feature is its large windows that bring in plenty of natural light throughout the building. The pool area is visible from most of the main floor, which creates an open atmosphere despite the winter weather. The design balances modern elements with comfort. I found myself spending time in the lobby, which turned out to be a decent spot to relax with coffee and watch the comings and goings. The views through the windows of the pool area provided a nice backdrop. We even got to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks from our room, which was a nice surprise. The food was decent - their breakfast menu had good variety. My cousins and I enjoyed their pancakes, and I particularly liked their smoked salmon bagel with pickled onions and sesame seeds since I was looking for low-carb protein options. The breakfast pizza was another hit. The staff was great too, which always makes a stay more pleasant. The hotel's location next to the mall was convenient for shopping, though it is a bit of a drive from LA and Orange County where my relatives live. Still, I didn't mind the extra commute given how nice the hotel was. Overall, it's a good option whether you're traveling for business or leisure. The place manages to feel upscale without being stuffy. My New Year's week stay was comfortable, and I'd consider staying here again when I'm in the LA area. Read less

My oldest son and I stayed here 1 night during a sporting event at the LB convention center. We easily parked into the attached self-parking garage and took a short walk to the main entrance. The lobby area felt open and spacious with a nice open feel with a lot of natural lighting. We had to check-in kind of late due to our event running late closer to 10pm. We were hoping to get some food at the cafe on-site but it closed at 10pm so we just missed it. I asked a 4pm late checkout which as happily confirmed since the next day our event would likely run into the mid to late afternoon. Upon check-in I wasn't upgraded to a suite but to a reasonably sized King corner room with a nice view of the port. Everything was pretty standard for the room although I think the bathroom could've had better lighting and water pressure. We asked for a rollaway bed which my son said felt was uncomfortable the next morning. That morning, we went down to the only option for free Globalist breakfast which was the restaurant/cafe that served all the food in takeout containers. My son ordered a breakfast burrito and I ordered 2 eggs with sausage. Both came in to go containers which we quickly ate at the available seating. Unfortunately both meals weren't great. My son said his burrito texture was off and kind of bland and my eggs and sausage felt like they came right out of a microwave. If I had to pay the listed prices (I think my breakfast was $20) instead of receiving it free as a Globalist, I would've been pretty unhappy. Given it was included as a Globalist benefit, it was tolerable even if it didn't taste great. Based on the breakfast food, this specific restaurant really needs to improve the quality of the food especially for the listed prices. After our event, we came back right around 4pm and were able to grab our bags in the room and head out. Overall, I felt this was adequate for our short stay but definitely felt underwhelmed by the quality of the breakfast. The staff were all helpful and professional as I have come to expect from HR and PHs. Read less
