The hotel

The Roosevelt is Hollywood's only historic hotel still in operation today. It hosted the first ever Academy Awards in 1929 and has seen throngs of people - including celebrities galore - pass through its doors. The hotel has even been featured in a few films and Shirley Temple took her first tap-dancing lesson on the tiled stairway! As if that's not enough, Montgomery Clift and Marilyn Monroe are reputed to haunt the joint - proof this place is too good to leave!

300 rooms: 240 in the Main Tower and 60 in the Cabana Building. All with air-conditioning, smart TV with in-room casting, WiFi access*, mini-bar*, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, and Malin+Goetz bathroom amenities.

Deluxe Rooms with either 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 4 people.

Cabana Rooms are located close to the pool, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 people.

Cabana Balcony Rooms overlook the pool, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 people.

One Bedroom Suites feautre a separate living and dining area, and bedroom with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 people.

Shirley Brasserie (traditional French Brasserie cuisine, open for dinner Weds - Sun). Rosy Cafe (poolside al fresco restaurant, serving fresh fare, open for breakfast and lunch). 25 Degrees (American burger joint, open for all-day dining). The Lobby (casual dining, serving food from Shirley Brasserie, a range of drinks, plus coffee and pastries every morning). The Spare Room (secret cocktail lounge, with two-lane bowling alley and custom-made wooden board games). Tropicana Bar (vintage poolside cafe and bar). The Library Bar (speciality cocktails).

Kelly, the security guard, led us on a wonderful tour of the hotel filled with fun facts and anecdotes, incredible views and photo opportunities! As a native of LA, he was so excited and passionate to share his knowledge with us. It really enhanced our stay at this historical property.

I found the Roosevelt to be high in elegance. It is in a great location. The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. Even the cleaning staff greeting you in the hallways were so friendly and helpful. Some issues though. I found the lack of lighting on one side of the room to be annoying with only the desk lamp. There wasn't any tea/coffee available in the room so we had to ask for a kettle and milk, having our own tea/coffee, and being charged $4 for milk plus $4 for delivery of the milk. The lack of explanation of the incidental fees. This should be something brought to the guest attention. Ordering food in the Lobby, staff were inflexible to change, eg salad instead of chips. A massive Thank You to your doorman (front of the building) and night staff for all of their help during the evening of the Sunset Fire (Wednesday). I live three blocks away from your hotel and was under a mandatory evacuation from our apartment complex. While your hotel was still close to the chaos, everyone there provided a safe place for us. As always, the hotel was beautiful and the room was spotless. I normally frequent your property for breakfast and lunch, but this time it was for a different reason. I really appreciated the calmness when checking in as well as the very nice team upon checkout on Thursday morning + the help from the staff at the back entrance of the building. Thank you again for providing a safe and comfortable stay during a night of extreme uncertainty in our neighborhood. Read less

He was extremely kind and helpful, When a situation arose while he was assisting us he promptly and politely excused himself and dealt with the situation in record time before returning to assist us with our questions, all around George was an amazing person and a great representative of quality service at the Hotel Roosevelt and made our stay 10 times better. We spent 5 days there to see in New years. Loved it had a lot of Hollywood history and the decor was also in keeping with an Art Deco and 1920s Hollywood hay-day. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
