Great location in the thick of Hollywood, with just the right amount of homelessness juxtaposing things we see on TV. I am in utter shock. W Hollywood’s “W Insider” Lina is incredible. I honestly did not know the famous “Whatever, Whenever” was an actual thing. I thought it was a mythical marketing thing. I am in utter shock. W Hollywood’s “W Insider” Lina is incredible. I honestly did not know the famous “Whatever, Whenever” was an actual thing. I thought it was a mythical marketing thing. No. It’s real, folks. Short story is my backpack, which had a $5000 computer and work set up, two sets of house keys, and expensive electronics inside plus other important personal items… was left behind when the bags were loaded from the storage closet into the car from the valet area. We did not know and just drove off… all the way to Palm Springs two hours away. We were exhausted from work and were not physically capable of driving back 2 hours at 11pm to arrive at 1am, pickup the backpack, then drive back to hopefully get to our destination at 3am. We already took a break on the way to have a 10-minute nap. When Lina found out what happened, she was incredible sweet, caring, compassionate, and listened to the whole ordeal. Once she realized the gravity of the situation with the expensive items and security/access concerns regarding our keys, she flew into action. She mobilized and coordinated her staff to gain approvals and coordinate a solution. The result was a creative (and extremely generous) push to find an Uber driver willing to drive 4-hours RT to deliver a package, as there were no options for mailing that would have gotten the backpack here in the next day before we would have to leave for the airport. Impressive problem solving! Somehow she convinced someone, got them to agree to take the package, and connected everyone on text threads to communicate and ensure successful delivery. It’s on its way right now, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve been an loyal Starwood, and then Marriott member for a long time, but I’ve never experienced service like this. Lina went above and beyond and blew my mind with her willingness and eagerness to help, which has resulted in a loyal W Hollywood customer for life. The W has always had a special place in my heart when I travel for business and pleasure. Memorable trips all over the world and impeccable quality. But this takes it over the top. I’m thorough impressed and Lina has earned my loyalty. People never forget when someone helps them in their hour of need, especially when they don’t have to. Thank you Lina, and I hope the W understands what they have in you. Read less

The hotel is well-maintained and everything is kept in good condition, the lobby and the living room were spacious, the interior design was chic, the color combination and lighting used were pleasant, and the outdoor area was comfortable. The gym was surprisingly nice, with new equipment and the area is clean, a good selection for a city hotel that is good enough for a decent workout. The rooftop pool is nice, with comfortable loungers and cabanas. As part of our Bonvoy Titanium status, we got daily breakfast in the form of credits, $20 per person per day, a bottle of welcome wine, daily juice, and a $42 F&B credit daily (minibar excluded) since they charge a daily resort fee. My husband secured a suite for us and the room was beautiful and spacious, everything was relatively new and it was a comfortable room, the only downside was the sensor in the bathroom sometimes malfunctioned. We were also able to see the Griffith Observatory, and it was a sunrise room so every morning, we were blessed with an unobstructed view of the sunrise, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Prior to our arrival, the hotel asked about our arrival time, we said 4PM. We arrived around 3:45PM, they said our room was not quite ready and will call us when it is, and gave us an initial room number. They called my husband around 4:55PM, more than an hour after our arrival, and just under an hour after our pre-notified 4PM arrival. When we collected our keys, we got a new room instead, and it's 1 level below the original room, when we asked for the reason, the lady said the original room took too long to clean, so we got assigned another room instead. Also, there wasn't a "Bonvoy Elite Member" line like other Marriott properties. For our bottle of welcome wine, we pre-communicated via email that we wanted champagne, we asked multiple times during the check-in process to no avail, when we returned to our room at night after some time outside, still no champagne, and I had to call again to get someone to deliver it to our room. Needless to say, not the best first impression. We checked in on a Saturday and it just so happened the hotel was hosting LA Fashion Week at our hotel pool and somehow, hotel guests don't have access to it so we weren't able to check out the pool. This was a very different experience from our other stays at W Miami Beach and Edition New York, both had events at the hotel and hotel guests were granted automatic access. The hotel also seems to be understaffed, not sure if it was just that weekend where there were events, or it was a general phenomenon at this property. We noticed there were barely times where we see all 3 stations with staff, only 2 at most at a time, and for busier times, only 1 person station there and it resulted in long lines. Our first breakfast the next day was a pleasant experience, we sat inside and the gentleman on duty was polite and competent. The breakfast menu didn't have the biggest variety but it was acceptable. Our second breakfast, however, was a disaster. We sat outside and since not every table was near a heater and all other tables that were near a turned-on heater were taken, we sat down at a random table so the hostess can go assist someone else. I then noticed there were proper tables set up in the middle area with heaters but they weren't turned on at the moment, so I went back out to speak to the hostess and have her re-seat us, she tried to turn on the heater but it wouldn't work so she sat us down first and allegedly went to get help from another staff. I asked our server for green tea with honey, no honey came. I asked him for more hot water, no hot water came, and no one checked in on us, so I ended up going to the bar and get hot water myself. Side note, it might be worth investing in some teapots or kettles, so when customers ask for hot beverages, we can get a pot of hot water rather than just a cup, which is rarely enough, and we don't have to take a few sips then wait for someone to come over and refill our cup. For our last night, we decided to order some room service. On the app, it clearly stated they close at 10 PM, we put through the order at 9:40 PM and it was only for bottle water and chamomile tea and we got an error message saying it was unavailable. We checked with a gentleman at the front desk and he called for us, and through his conversation, it seems to suggest that the room service team simply wanted to close early and stop accepting orders, rather than honoring the 10 PM deadline. We did receive our order at the end, maybe because it was put through by front desk manually, but again, it wasn't the nicest experience. During our stay, there was non-stop maintenance and construction work going on, the stairs by the living room, and the stairs by the lobby entrance, one night they cut the water from 11:55 PM - 6 AM, and some unknown construction work at the pool so for the entire 5 nights we stayed there, every day the pool didn't open until noon and they close at 10 PM which is 4 hours past sunset, which doesn't make any sense. So regrettably we didn't get to spend time at the pool at all because of our sightseeing schedule. Also, they have a happy hour from 4-5 PM every day, which was a nice gesture but again, with how spread out LA is, the traffic, and what most people's sightseeing schedules are, no one are going to be able to enjoy the complimentary wine between 4-5 PM because timing just doesn't work. Overall, we still enjoyed our time there, but it wasn't our best stay. Read less
