Fairmont San Francisco embodies the grandeur of this historic city. It effortlessly combines impeccable service with luxurious rooms and top-notch facilities. As it’s set high atop Nob Hill, you’ll enjoy great city views and can practically hop on the cable cars from outside the hotel. When it comes to eating, you’ll find some delicious local food at the hotel’s three restaurants. Why not treat yourself to traditional afternoon tea at the weekend or visit The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar for, apparently, the best Mai Tai in the city.

An iconic landmark

Perfectly located at the top of Nob Hill, this hotel is iconic. The room was very comfortable and had great views of the Bay (when the sun broke through the fog) We enjoyed a beautiful dinner there and watched the moon rise from the very quiet outdoor gardens with our own bottle of wine.
A lovely hotel experience in San Francisco!

Excepional service levels, and a grand lobby atmosphere here. I oftentimes work on copy deadlines at 2, 3 or 4 am and I discovered a fabulous desk, tucked-away in the lobby-area to set up and work alongside my coffee cup. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and it was all very nice.
Just book this place, you won't be disappointed.
One teeny tiny gripe, was that it was a long trek to actually get to our room from reception, so if that kind of thing is important to you ask for a room nearer reception.

Loved every time I walked through the lobby with all the happy people in there.

Disappointing and dated hotel hiding behind its glorious past

This hotel is running purely on the reputation it has build over the decades. Right from the start we could see the misses - inattentive valet, long lines at check-in, staff did not seem to be properly trained. The lobby is extremely crowded as it seems the Christmas tree and gingerbread house are a major attraction. My 10 and 8 year olds were…

Right from the start we could see the misses - inattentive valet, long lines at check-in, staff did not seem to be properly trained. Rooms - Be warned that the Junior King suite does not have a king bed, and suites do not have any view - just a concrete block. This applies to all suites. They earned one star for agreeing to move us to a room with a better view and an actual king sized bed. Rooms are a bit dated and bathrooms are extremely tiny. The Ritz has much nicer amenities and larger rooms / bathrooms.
Now for the biggest cash grab ever - The "Holiday Tea" experience - stop right here, save your money. I am embarrassed at the amount of money we spent on a few bits of average sandwiches, cold biscuits, terrible service and we waited 90 minutes for our first tray of food to arrive. 20% Gratuity is conveniently added even for smaller groups. We left starving and poor. When we checked out of the hotel, no one helped with our bags. Granted we stayed there over new years eve, but how does a hotel of this caliber not prepare itself for the guests coming their way ?
