The beach is beautiful and the child pool is great for my baby as it is his 1st time to the pool and beach. We are disappointed with Hyatt Maui though as there are a lot of renovations ongoing, I have a baby that needs to take a nap and they gave me a room with construction noise outside. The front desk should have inform us when we check in and saw our baby so we can make arrangement on our schedule. It was also my birthday and usually other Hyatt hotel send me a cake, (Shanghai Hyatt did and I was surprised by them). I do not really care about such gesture as I have my own celebration at Whalers village anyway, but the feeling from Hyatt Maui employee is just to avoid any trouble from guests. Some of the employees are friendly and helpful but quite some of them I can see does not like their job and is very rude especially the valet parking lady. She demand I hand over my car keys when I just want to pick up my family with baby at front entrance. Hyatt management definitely need to improve on customer service and guest experience if they want to beat the competition. Read less

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Lovely resort for conference; might wait to book until after construction

Stayed here due to a conference at hotel. Traveled for business with a friend/colleague. We did not have a vehicle which I would normally recommend on Maui but we were trying to save on costs. FYI bus to area will not allow *any* luggage unless you just have a backpack, so we had to use Lyft which was around $50ish from airport with coupon. Pros: -Partial ocean view room with two queen beds was lovely, all rooms have the nice balcony. We did get a discount with the conference including breakfast. The pricing is very expensive for what I'm used to paying; however, given this was discounted and for business that made it worthwhile. -Room was squeaky clean. Housekeeping does a nice job, and if you don't opt for daily housekeeping, you can get a $10 discount (I forget if this was off food at one of the resort restaurants...) -Conference area is in the lower level. The temperature in the room was overly air conditioned/chilly, but unfortunately that is common for conferences. At least you had easy access to step outside for a break and enjoy the beachwalk/ocean views! -Yoga and other "complimentary" classes are relaxing (just bring your own towel from the caddy). Teacher was excellent. -You do have easy access to beach, it is a bit rocky in places (nature!) but you can walk either way to find an ideal location. Beach walk is convenient to walk to Whaler's Village. Beautiful, beautiful property. -There *is* a "free" shuttle (must walk down the hill just a short distance) but you a) either sit on shuttle x 20 minutes to Whaler's Village or b) driver lets you out at stop sign to walk the rest of the way (not sure if they will always do that). -...It isn't super convenient to *get* to the village, but perfectly fine to get back. But honestly, it is a free/low cost (tips for driver) option that exists versus a Lyft/Uber. FYI It didn't seem the trolley was accessible for anyone with a wheelchair/walker, etc. but we did see some families bring on a stroller (if you can lift it, seems okay)...still adding as a pro since it is an option. -Breakfast buffet in Swan Court is elaborate. There are some cons (will get to that) but the food in general is actually quite yummy and there are numerous options even with food sensitivities (gluten, vegan, etc). Again, we were grateful our breakfast was included in price cost...6am is the best time though before it gets crowded. -If you are a runner/walker, the beach walk is lovely but you do need to start early! -Staff is overall incredibly friendly! Props to them, especially housekeeping/maintenance who obviously does a lot of work behind the scenes. -Bracelet door key is convenient. -Grounds are lovely overall. I have never stayed at a fancy resort like this before in the U.S. so this was a first and I don't have much to compare. Cons: -As others have mentioned, there is massive construction. I do understand they are making improvements; however, as far as I can tell there are no price discounts or other "extras" for the inconvenience. During the day, the room was noisy. We obviously didn't spend much time in room during the day (outside is better!) however, my friend tried to take a nap which was challenging with the noise. -The pool is lovely, however, quite limited with extensive work being done and all the chairs crowded together. Just not as relaxing as you might expect. You *do* have access to the vacation rental property adjacent pool/hot tub but those were also quite busy. -The Swan Court could be organized better. It was busy, plus with conference attendees and later a basketball invitational (obviously lots of events at this hotel). We went to desk to ask for the "take-out" option (mind you, 15% gratuity to get a box & a bag but so it goes) and this seemed to be the process for 3/4 days no problem. On our last day, the attendant said we needed to wait in the long line to get take-out which was confusing because the process suddenly changed? Anyway, the point being, would make more sense to have a separate "line" for take out & for those that want to be seated. I respect they get busy & are doing their best, but weird that the process changed from day to day and depending on the staff. Not a major "con" just mildly annoying and disorganized. -Pro-tip: If you are at a conference with time limitations, just go at 6am, get the takeout option for later and avoid the confusion. -We had a good experience at Umalu (bar-side restaurant) for 3 days. They did not charge us the 15% for takeaway (we didn't know there was a charge). On the last day, same thing, we had a strange encounter with staff which I can describe separately for Umalu. Just very inconsistent service/"rules" at the restaurants. -Pay attention to your bill! Make sure to get itemized bill and review with caution. We had a random $50 towel charge (we returned all our towels). We did get it reversed right away, but it seems they might add random charges to see what they can get away with (not staff fault, probably a systems fault of hotel). Overall: Beautiful location & property. Great for a conference! Would probably not spend full sticker price especially while construction is occurring. Read less
