Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

Digital check-in is a joke at this property, and it is really showing its age. This is not a resort and should never have a resort fee. Room A/C does not work well because it is stuffed inside a cabinet and Excalibur's own maintenance employee stated it should not have been placed there because the air cannot circulate and just shuts off.

As an MGM Gold Member, I was extremely disappointed to learn that the Valet and Bell Desk were closing during our stay. These are two services that we expect to be available and have used for over 25+ years. As Gold Members we expect to be able to Valet Park during our stay. We are older now and always use the Bellman to help with our luggage. I was also disappointed last year to find out that we no longer receive Housekeeping Services on a daily basis. The dining options have been dwindling and now that even the early-closing Buffet has closed for good there are too few choices. Having the Center Bar as the only Bar open 24 Hours is also disappointing. The Lobby Bar used to be open 24 Hours and now has hours that are too short. Due to these changes, we will no longer be staying at the Excalibur. We have numerous choices offered through MGM and have chosen to stay at the Excalibur, but no more. During our Check-in on Saturday 29 March, we were given keys to room 17241 at the Priority Check-In. When we arrived at the room and opened the door we found that the room was still occupied. There were cell phones, clothing, luggage, and unmade beds. Luckily, no one was in the room. We left immediately and I went back to the Priority Desk and reported this. The Host said that the room was reported as clean and ready in the computer by Housekeeping. We were given keys to Room 15243 which was actually clean and unoccupied. This situation may be related to the recent layoffs in the Housekeeping Department. Read less

Don’t make the biggest mistake ever! Don’t stay at this low budget over congested hell hole of a casino. It’s like a mid evil dungeon! It’s old, it’s nasty, it’s dark, it’s dirty, it’s brown/brown and more brown, and it’s way overpriced! Really long check in lineups! Mobile check in didn’t work for me because it didn’t like my passport. No floor… Read more

It’s old, it’s nasty, it’s dark, it’s dirty, it’s brown/brown and more brown, and it’s way overpriced! Really long check in lineups! Mobile check in didn’t work for me because it didn’t like my passport. No floor servers come around ever and I had to go looking to find them! Basic restaurants are overpriced and low class. No where classy to eat. Royal tower is the airport side with the noise and the tram. The website photos don’t match the reality of the rooms! The entire casino needs to be bulldozed! Massive renovation and upgrading is mandatory and absolutely necessary! It’s just entirely gross from the LONG checkin lines, to dirty elevators, to dark scary ghetto hallways, to ugly old rooms to nasty bathrooms to everywhere!!! Like a dirty pig with lipstick on! The room was comfortable and clean. The casino was lively and fun. The room was somewhat dated. The Buffet was very good for the price. We really enjoyed the Tournament of Kings, I highly recommend this show. Service throughout the resort exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return for another stay.
