Flamingo

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of seven restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, four distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

The room was supposed to be "refreshed" with a partial strip view, the room had a partial view of the High Roller and Sphere and the roof of the casino. As far as being refreshed, it was showing wear. Checking out I was told my receipt would be emailed, it was not, and was told parking would be $20.00, it was $35.00. Getting out of the garage was a nightmare as no one could get the damn gates to raise. When I called to request my receipt, the customer service person was rude and transferred my call to the wrong extension. Needless to say, this will be the last time we ever stay at the Flamingo. We were so excited to stay at the Flamingo, my grandparents had been patrons for years and told us it was the greatest hotel on the strip, but since they got too old to come to Vegas the Flamingo has changed. Casino was fine but the room was horrible. Dirty and dusty, garbage left underneath things from previous occupants, carpet was ripped, bathroom fan didn't work, shower leaked all over the floor, charged us an extra $20 to check in only 30 minutes early. I'm not one to write reviews but this was so incredibly disappointing, especially as people who have previously stayed at the Flamingo and had a good experience. It's sad to see an iconic place going downhill like this :( Read less

Dirty room at check in. Leftover items in refrigerator. Stains on the walls. Holes in the shower tile. No support in switching rooms. Reached out to management, no resolve. I will never stay at this property nor recommend it. I will provide a more detailed review with an update.

Lots of plug sockets/ wi fi .it took us a while to find how to use the shower , & takes a while for it to get warm , fine when did .complimentary safe in room , the only negative was we didn't get housekeeping , ( bins not emptied ) change of bedding , maybe because only 4 nights ? & we had to keep asking for towels when we saw the cleaner/ housekeeping person .would definitely recommend though. ( the habitat rooms are the refurbished ones ). Read less

This hotel was not my choice and for some aspects I was pleasantly surprised. The check in experience was the best I have had. Just scan your QR code, ID and credit card and the booth prints your keys and instruction on how to find your room. I was in the Habitat tower on the odd side and this is where the problem started. I specifically requested a high floor due to the possible traffic noise from the Strip, which was obliged. Little did I know (and let me tell you the powers that be HAVE to know) that Friday and Saturday nights the noise from the nearby nightclub runs from 11pm- 3am. It literally felt like the nightclub was right next door to my room. My friend was in the same tower in an even numbered room and could not hear a thing. Why would they put me in this room??? On the upside the room was newly renovated, clean and tidy. They do provide daily service which I declined. The casino is, well, just a casino. There are a great dining options, including a Cuban restaurant and Pinky's by Vanderpump, which is just divine. The pool was mid renovation which was not a problem as it was too cold to swim. The Flamingos are a crowd pleaser. The best thing is the location. There is the monorail right at your doorstep which takes you up and down the strip. You can walk to The Bellagio and Caesars Palace and many other attractions. Overall a nice stay with the exception of my totally avoidable lack of sleep. Read less
