Not a very clean hotel (hair in the bathrooms thay was not mine, towels stained woth makeup that wasnt my wifes), very rundown and sloppy repair jobs... and don't get me started on the 1-ply toilet paper. There are definitely better choices on the strip.

Best tip: check prices for different weekends and be flexible. Prices vary a lot from weekend to weekend and even more when you include weekdays. I have stayed at many casinos in Vegas over the years. I mostly go to MGM properties since 2015. I was there a lot in 2015 since working in Arizona. This was my first time at the Luxor. I used the kiosk to check in and it gave me a room on the red elevators which go up the side of the Pyramid rather than straight up. The elevator shook so much I was a little disturbed. I guess that is normal for elevator not going straight up, but I didn't like it. Also, I couldn't get the elevator to stop on my floor but it did stop on the floor below and above my room. So I went back to the front desk and they gave me a room with the sliver elevators which go straight up in one of the towers. Way better. Gambling was a little slow as far as crowds go. But it was your basic Vegas gambling floor. They had a good variety of games but not as many as the bigger places. I ate Mexican once in this resort and it was pretty good. Waitress was very nice and service was good. My biggest problem with this resort, which is also a problem with MGM properties in general was that I did not get any comps for a 4 night stay with much gambling. And i usually bet pretty big. Also my Express comps from years earlier expired. I was told years earlier that my $200+ express comps would never expire. Someone explained to me that MGM switched to a new system with MGM rewards instead of express comps. Hmmmm... They call it something different and change the rules about expiration. Not a good thing or ethical IMO. As I checked out, I went to the Preferred guests (Hosts) room. I used to always check out with a host and they covered the entire bill including much food that was charged to my room. This time, because it had been so long (6 years) since I had been to an MGM property, my Platinum or Gold level had downgraded to the lowest level. As I explained to the host at the host room that I always checkout through a host, he told me that there were no hosts there. That if I wanted to talk to a host, I needed to go the the front desk and ask for one. I knew this was a lie, but I just left surprised. The front desk rep seemed very surprised when I told her I was instructed by the host room to go there and ask for a host. She checked me out and nothing was comped. Unfortunately, we went on an expensive weekend (UFC fight). $800 for 4 nights. Wed-Sun. I will never go back to the Luxor for being lied to. I did get free room offers for any MGM properties in my email afterwards though for my next trip, which is kind of what I expected but I am still surprised and a little upset I didn't get any comps on site. And oh yeah. While gambling late Sat. night (well early sunday morning) I was playing craps from the end of the table next to the dealer. He actually yelled at me multiple times for touching the table next to him. He said there's a rule that I can only reach out as far as my chips were on the pass line. I have played craps thousands of times and no one has ever told me I couldn't hold the dice in front of my chips like that. He was very upset that I touched the table in front of his station. I couldn't believe it as well as everyone else at the table. I was pretty drunk so I didn't let it bother me, i just laughed at how irate he was. I kept joking about it and inadvertently kept breaking that rule. Eventually I learned not to break that rule and made jokes about how I played for so many years and even dealers who didn't like me never told me about this rule. Even the supervisor backed up this rule. I was astonished that they would potentially upset a customer and others at the table over such a dumb rule. But I tried to adhere to the rule but forgot sometimes as old habits are hard to break. I almost always tip the dealers. Not this time. I didn't like the Luxor overall, but I think I may be spoiled a bit as I have stayed free so many times at almost all of the MGM properties. Read less

We were unable to access the hotel's self park garage because all the streets were closed due to a concert at Mandalay Bay. We missed the show. We were not warned or informed of the street closures and therefore could not get into the hotel self park garage. After missing our show we confronted the hotel manager and he didn't seem to care at all about our ordeal. He told us he would credit us the cost of our tickets but he did not do so.
