The hotel

Part of the very fabric of Midtown Manhattan, this Art Deco attraction is proudly capped with the red ‘New Yorker’ sign that’s made it a landmark in the city skyline. Inside its iconic 1929 shell, this Jazz Age hotel’s held on to its heritage. Its top location, just a block from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, means you’re well placed for attractions like Macy’s, Times Square and the Empire State Building. And it doesn’t matter what time you finish exploring, its 24-hour Tick Tock Diner will give you a taste of New York with American comfort food classics like burgers and all-day breakfasts. If you fancy something a little more upmarket, the New Yorker’s Trattoria Bianca comes with an oyster bar.

The location is absolutely brilliant, the staff were great and the rooms were cleaned on arrival and were cleaned daily by the staff, there's also security checking people to make sure they have room keys before letting them use the elevators to the rooms so it's also very safe

We had only booked 2 days prior as our original holiday to Vegas had been cancelled due to the fire at LHR so we opted for NY. Great place opposite Maddison Square Gardens for any events. You could see the Empire State Building as soon as you step out of the hotel in walking distance too. Walking distance from Times Square. We would definitely recommend this hotel as well placed. There is Penn Station straight across the road too. Friendly reception staff and security staff near the lifts checking room cards. There is the Tick Tock diner (open 24hrs) within the hotel building, a small Starbucks take out (6am-3pm). Read less

Great service and staff, but prepare for very small rooms and very high prices. Hotel pricing was $600+ a night for rooms and we expected more. But after booking 3 nights we realized that the rooms looked bigger online than they actually were. We were then promised a room change that never came:(. I recommend for couples and small friend groups… Read more

I recommend for couples and small friend groups (2-3 people) if you’re people who don’t hang out in their rooms a lot, and just need somewhere to shower and sleep. I will say that the lobby is very pretty during the holiday season :). Read less

As a Wyndham Rewards member, I find it disappointing that I didn't receive any perks. The room rate is already quite high, and on top of that, you'll need to pay an additional $35 per night in resort fees. Amenities should be included in the price, not added at the end of your stay. The staff members were great: Betty at housekeeping, the security lady, and the entire front desk team. They were receptive to my humor and, after that, had a natural smile on their faces. I like The New Yorker Hotel's central location and art deco lobby, but the rest of the interior is outdated. When you enter a hallway leaving the elevator, some floors are grim. A major plus is the vicinity of the subway's entrance next to the hotel, Penn Station on the next block, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal on walking distance. Read less

Had a really nice stay at this old school nyc hotel. Loved the lobby and hallways, the Tik tok diner is also very good. We originally booked in a metro room, but only managed one night in this as it was tiny, and to be honest a bit grubby. I went down to the desk the next day and they were more than helpful, so I upgraded for a extra $50 a night to a much bigger and more modern room which had its own balcony with a great view over the city. Presumably they are slowly updating the rooms as this was very modern and new compared to the metro room. Ideal location, plenty of places for food and drinks around the area, subway on the door step. Only tip is double check if booking a metro room as ours definitely did not look like the photos advertised. Read less
