The hotel

A taste of elite New York living, the residential feel of The New York EDITION sets it apart from your average Manhattan hotel. Inside an historic clocktower, near the Flatiron building and Madison Square Park, its grand interiors are swathed in neutral, warm, ivory and oatmeal. The elegant guestrooms are just as decadent, featuring oversized windows, rain showers, complimentary WiFi, 48” HDTVs, and BEATS Bluetooth speakers. Its spa is reserved exclusively for hotel guests, but there’s no keeping New York’s gastro-aficionados from The Clocktower: with Michelin starred Jason Atherton at the helm, its classic-meets-contemporary British menu is served in three exquisite dining rooms (and the Lobby Bar). The centrepiece of the dining experience is the Gold Bar, with its gilt-framed photos, 3 foot globe chandelier, glistening cocktails, and 24k gold leaf bar ensuring it lives up to its name.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay and quickly decided this is at the top of our list for go-to hotels in NYC. In a city where even the most expensive, luxury hotels can feel dated and drab, the New York EDITION has a very modern aesthetic. The rooms are wonderful -- well-appointed, updated, and upscale. We were upgraded to a Loft Suite which was large (huge by NYC standards) and had extensive views of Madison Square Park and the Empire State Building. Staff (Valet/bell staff/front desk/housekeeping) were very attentive and professional. We enjoyed the small, but fun lobby bar one night (there is also a restaurant and bar on the second floor). We love the location of this hotel. Right across the street from Madison Square Park (arguably NYC's most pristine public park). So many great restaurants and attractions near by. Two subway stations a block away. You can't beat this location. Read less

Excellent modern hotel in a great location. The front desk employees were all very accommodating. Chanela went above and beyond upgrading us to a fantastic suite and making sure we were comfortable. The room service was delicious and quick. The views from the corner suite were amazing.

We have stayed at The Edition a number of times in the past few years. We have enjoyed the location, the staff, and the rooms. However, a stay last month was quite disappointing. The room was pleasant enough and the staff were, as usual, polite, but: (a) at check-in there was luggage all over in front of the front desk. (b) during a three night stay we never saw a doorman. (c) the heat did not work properly. (e) The sink did not drain properly; mildly improved after a service call. (f) one evening there was a strong smell of marijuana in the lobby; no smoking but marijuana is accepted? (g) Saturday night there is a DJ playing obnoxiously loud music in the small bar/lounge area; unbearable noise and unruly crowd throughout the lobby. (h) there is no security to accessing the elevators-and it felt needed on Saturday night. (i) complimentary coffee/tea station off lounge area was not cleaned sufficiently, never had enough clean cups, and always empty coffee carafes. Read less

We stayed for a birthday and were welcomed with an upgrade to a Loft Suite, a bottle of Prosecco and a small cake. The perfect amount of attention and help from staff. The hotel and rooms are the perfect balance of modern and subdued to provide a respite from the city, with excellent views of Madison Square Park and even the Empire State Building. The 23rd street subway entrance is just outside the hotel - just 3 stops to the theater district/Times Saquare where we saw a show. Eataly is also right across the Park. Will certainly stay again. My new go-to hotel in New York City. I’ve stayed here twice in the past few months. The first time on a lower floor, second time on a higher floor (near the top). The lower floor room was extremely large (I mean, this is NYC, space is such a luxury) with a fabulously appointed bathroom, and very high ceilings. Not much of a view as I was looking into the office tower opposite. For the second stay I was on a higher floor, where the room was notably smaller (because the floor plates are smaller), with smaller windows and lower ceilings. However, the view from those windows, looking downtown, was fabulous! While the room was smaller it was nowhere near cramped and equally as stylish as the larger room. Both stays and both rooms were fabulous. The lobby bar is a nice place for a drink. The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient to pretty much anywhere you need to get to in NYC. If you can book this hotel, do it. Read less
