Blind Tiger Ale House
Wildly popular Blind Tiger Ale House has been around since 1995, making it one of the original legends of New York’s beer scene. Jimmy’s No. 43
Old Manhattan stalwart Jimmy’s No. 43 is a cosy, low-key basement venue serving up great value pints of American microbrews with the added bonus of excellent food and regular tastings. And they do a fine line in ciders too.

Rattle ‘n’ Hum
Midtown East’s Rattle ‘n’ Hum is right in the heart of NYC’s tourist zone but don’t let that put you off: the 40-odd taps and great selection of cask ales make this a no-brainer for the craft beer-loving visitor and there’s a great pub menu to boot, including a fabulous Irish breakfast. It’s also just a block or so from the Empire State Building.

The Ginger Man
The always-buzzing Ginger Man is the after-hours bar of choice for Midtown’s beer-drinking commuters, and is regularly touted as one of the best beer venues in the world. The dimmed lighting and glossy wooden bar create an upscale pub vibe, and there’s a jaw-dropping selection of bottles and beers on tap.

Tørst
The Scandinavian-inspired bar Tørst in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighbourhood is the sleekest destination on our list, and comes with a Michelin-starred restaurant, Luksus, accessed through a sliding door at the rear. A high-end craft beer destination, the minimalist hotspot offers 21 expertly-selected beers on tap and more than 200 bottles.
