Little Havana
While wandering down the famous Calle Ocho in Little Havana, you may forget which city it is that you’re visiting. This district has so much in common with its Cuban progenitor – even the street signs are in Spanish – that you’ll feel like you’ve landed in the Caribbean. There are lots of Little Havana essentials to enjoy, from sampling empanadas and Cubano sandwiches to enjoying traditional live music; it’s no wonder this neighbourhood is considered one of the most colourful in town.
Miami Beach
Located on a barrier island just across from Miami proper, paradisiacal Miami Beach is where to go for some Floridian relaxation. The area’s many beaches are an obvious draw (be sure to keep an eye out for the distinctive lifeguard towers, as are its must-play, PGA-approved golf courses. However you choose to spend your time in Miami Beach, adopting a languid pace is key.

South Beach
It doesn’t get more classically Miami than South Beach – or SoBe, as it’s sometimes known. From the rainbow-hued art deco buildings to the see-and-be-seen crowd, from the barely-there bathing suits to the swanky clubs, from the high-end shopping streets to the thrilling food scene, this iconic neighbourhood serves up a serious helping of sun-kissed glamour.
Little Haiti
Get a taste for the Caribbean lifestyle in Miami’s Little Haiti district. Formerly known as Lemon City, this vibrant enclave promises a unique cultural experience. Visitors can chat with vendors at the Caribbean Marketplace, take in the programming at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, peep the colourful murals around the area, and stop off for some traditional Haitian fare at the beloved Leela’s Restaurant.
Miami Design District
Both a hub of creative energy and a luxury shopper’s dream, the Miami Design District is catnip for the aesthetically discerning set. In the past twenty years, this petite neighbourhood has experienced stunning levels of revitalisation and, despite its small size, attracts flocks of visitors. Come dressed to impress: you’ll want to look the part as you wander among the art galleries and designer showrooms.
