A Hawaiian haven on Kauai's North Shore, this beautiful hotel is all about wellness, relaxation, and sustainability. With stunning views over Hanalei Bay, this really is an oceanfront sanctuary where you can enjoy as much or as little activity as you like. The beach is right on your doorstep, be it for a relaxing swim or a spot of paddle boarding and kayaking, and the cute town of Hanalei isn't far away to explore. But the highlight of this hotel (in our opinion) is the spa. With natural and organic products, and individualised treatments, you'll be feeling the effects long after your treatment has finished. The adults-only infinity pool is another highlight, with ocean views and a poolside bar, so you can enjoy some peace and quiet with a cocktail in hand. There's two other pools though, with a shallow one that's particularly suitable for the little ones, whilst Seedlings Kids club is a fun, educational space where the little ones can enjoy a host of activities inspiring imagination and discovery. And we haven't even touched on the food. There's a wide range of bars and reataurants that focus on locally sourced food - we're pretty sure you'll never go hungry here. All in all, this hotel is perfect for active families, solo travellers, and newlyweds alike.

Great view and beach!

Finally made it here! Rooms are great. I liked the old design when it was a St Refis better. But the staff as amazing. Local fun and friendly. We never expect great food in Hawaii but they and do a decent job. Johnny at the bar is a hoot. They really cleaned up the beach!

Visited for my mom's birthday and had the most amazing time! The property itself is stunning with excellent facilities throughout, the views are incredible but the best part was the service. Every person we came into contact with was wonderful. Can't wait for our next trip!

We decided to come for our anniversary.
The Valet staff was great. They were super nice and personable.
The check-in space has an open space concept which is nice but can be confusing if it is as busy as it was when we arrived.

We decided to come for our anniversary.
The Valet staff was great. They were super nice and personable.
The check-in space has an open space concept which is nice but can be confusing if it is as busy as it was when we arrived.
We were told our room wasn't ready, but they said that they would text us when it was ready for us. The room was ready about an hour after the normal check-in time.
Upon check-in in they showed us a board of all the classes and told us we could sign up at the concierge. They also were able to help us get an earlier dinner reservation time.
The property is really nice with great views, but I feel like as part of the check in process, they should explain where things are located.
We had a hard time finding the pool, another couple showed us and 1 other lost couple how to get there and we never found the gift shop.
There are so many things that I love about the hotel.
The rooms are nice. I love the water kettles and the filtered water tap in each room, the beach access to the ocean is great (super calm and swimmable for snorkeling), the pool is actually deep enough to swim (but maybe there should be caution signs for kids), and the espresso martinis are to die for ( I need the secret recipe!) I could stay here forever - the only thing missing are washers and dryers!
Also, the biggest pro is being able to check out later. The team was super flexible. We had booked a sound bath that was later on the day of our check-in and they were able to push our check out to after the session for 1/2 night's stay. The class ended up getting canceled and we checked out earlier than planned and they removed the charge from our stay.
Now for the cons:
Make sure to check your bill.
I never check as it's hard to track when my husband and I are doing room charges.
But I had something charged on my card a few weeks after our stay, which caused me to check our bill. I ended up finding charges on our bill that were before we had checked in.
Not a huge problem except it was a pain to get fixed. I had to call the hotel 5 times and each time they said that they would call me back. Finally a month later - my last attempt - someone was able to help me and reverse the charges. I am assuming it was the guest prior to us who had a late checkout - their charges for lunch, dinner and the mini bar ended up on our bill.
Things beyond their control:
Not a deal breaker but I wish that there were more authentic Hawaiian food options.
Also our sound bath was canceled on the morning of our last day (which was a bummer).

A lovely stay, from start to finish. We recently spent Thanksgiving at the 1 Hotel at Hanalei and all loved it. It was a family trip with my husband and daughter and I. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very much "Eco" in style which appealed. The decor is stylish but practical and everything was supremely comfortable from the bedding to the extra wide sun loungers and beach loungers. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. It's a great location, under an hour from Lihue Airport and only a short 15 min drive to the town of Hanalei. The hotel beach is small but swimmable and there's a huge beach close by at Hanalei where my husband and daughter had a surf lesson. The spa is beautiful and I would recommend a visit.
Overal a fabulous stay and we all very much hope to return.
