Everything about the Alexandra was beautiful and we were helped by so many of the staff there. Hermian and Priscilla made our honeymoon stay feel extra special and made sure we had everything we needed or asked for. The entertainment during our stay was amazing. Kimron and Cheeky are spectacular hosts! Not least of all, we were extremely pleased with all of the food options at both the Alexandra and Blue Haven. We had an incredible variety of options for each meal and we especially enjoyed the fish fry just off of resort property on Friday. Special shout-outs to Sudion, Denny, Christina, and Judyann for taking care of all of our dietary needs while we were there. We're definitely looking forward to our next stayat the Alexandra in TCI! Food was just ok other than the jerk chicken on the beach. Drinks were indeed good and the lager was seriously one of the best ever. Rooms were very nice / big and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. The resort is small which made it nice for meeting others at the resort. Several workers didn’t seem all that happy which can make it harder to tip like a visitor should. If / when we come back, it will be because of Tash and Cheeky. They were the two folks worth specifically mentioning. Read less

We stayed for 3 nights in the Deluxe One Bedroom Oceanfront Suite. We paid $3796, with a $670 savings with the fall prepay and save sale. It was $1265 a night, which is pretty expensive for what we got in my opinion. We paid $1357 a night at Seven Stars, and had a much better experience. We have never stayed in an all inclusive before, so we didn't know what to expect. It was a good experience to try, but we probably would not stay here again. The resort is beautiful, grounds well maintained, beautiful beach. Accommodation The room was spacious and comfortable. 767 feet. The bathroom was great. There is an enormous walk in shower, a fantastic lit mirror, plenty of vanity space for your stuff, toiletries provided. We were disappointed that the bedroom was not oceanfront. We stayed at the Seven Stars and the bedroom and living room were oceanfront. At Alexandra, our bedroom overlooked a hallway, and the cleaning staff left their garbage can/cleaning setup right outside our window the whole time. Quite the view. Couldn't they lock that up in a cleaning closet when not in use? So we basically had a bad view from our bedroom and had to climb around the setup as we came and went from our room. We were extremely disappointed in our room. I booked, and paid extra for, an oceanfront room. We were on the first floor and could not see the ocean from our room at all. We saw gravel, dunes and grass. They should call it a dune view room, not oceanfront. Technically it was oceanfront, but we could not actually SEE the ocean. For $1265 a night, I expected an oceanfront view. Food & Drink The food was pretty good, not spectacular. The breakfast buffet at ASU is pretty good. Lots of options. On my last morning, there was no table for me, and I was not too happy to have to bring a plate back to my room. If I wanted a coffee refill or some more food, I would have had to walk all the way back to the restaurant. The jerk chicken at the Turquoise Grill was awesome. We had that twice. Dinner at the Fish Deck was ok. Service was terrible, the food was average, and it was very loud since it is near the stage. Why is the Fish Deck & Dragon Orchid closed on Saturday night? If you check the schedule, your only option is the Street Festival. Good luck getting a table if everyone at the resort is eating in the same place at the same time. The logistics of this make no sense. Dragon Orchid, the sushi place, is so small, we decided not to try it. There are not many tables, and they are all inside, a bit stuffy. The Truck Stop opens at 1pm. Why does a lunch spot open so late? It should be open at noon. It is supposed to be open, according to the schedule, until 8pm...but it was not. When I swung by one night, it was closed by 5 or 6pm. The food is great there. I recommend the kale salad, the skewers, the sides. I made reservations for Black Rock. When we arrived, they gave us a table next to a large pole, at a table entirely too big for a couple - we would have had to scream across the table to talk to each other. Before being seated, I requested a different table, something more intimate. The place was practically empty, only 2 other tables taken. The hostess gave me an attitude and sat us at the big table next to the pole, despite my objections. The entertainment started on the stage next to the restaurant, and it was excessively loud. I went back to the hostess and asked again to be moved or I was leaving. We walked over to a table further away from the speakers and had dinner. I was stumped why she was no unhelpful- the place never filled up. I don't understand the restaurant situation. So you can not make reservations at any of the restaurants ahead of time. You have to scan a code and then make reservations on the morning of your meal. If you don't wake up at 8am, all the reservations are full and you are pretty much out of luck. So what then? You go hungry? I tried making reservations at Blue Haven, at the sister resort, and was unsuccessful. So we never got the opportunity to try that restaurant. There is a snack station and coffee stand/smoothie bar. Every time I stopped by the coffee stand, it was either closed (!) or a long line because there was only one lady working there. The snacks were always wiped out. There were only stale tuna sandwiches, iceberg lettuce salads, and apples. That was it. I saw a box of chips one morning, but it was all taken in minutes and never replaced all day. And I walked by the snack station all day long - never saw it stocked. The swim up pool bar is fun. However, there was only one bartender and he had a rough time keeping up. He did his best, but there should have been more than one bartender. We also visited the coconut bar. In general, the alcohol is bottom tier. We have never been to an all inclusive before, and were disappointed to be served bottom tier drinks. My husband is a wine drinker. They serve Crane Lake, which is literally the worst wine you can drink in the world. It is $7 a bottle at home, and will give you the biggest headache. How about a slightly better selection like Mondavi? I was not impressed by the bars at all and would rather not do inclusive and pay for a better drink. Entertainment They are trying so hard to compete with Beaches I think. Every night they had some sort of entertainment. The fire show was spectacular. All the other events were obnoxious and loud. I didn't realize I was going to a party resort. I thought Alexandra would be a peaceful, relaxing trip. I think the stage is entirely too close to the restaurant - it should be moved. Dinner at Black Rock is uncomfortable - the music from the stage every night is so loud, you can not hear your spouse talk. It feels like you are eating in a club. Which is fine, but if I wanted to party, I would have went to Beaches. I had a much more relaxing stay at Seven Stars. For this reason alone, I would probably not stay here again. Service Service across the board was terrible. From the Black Rock hostess, to the waitresses at Black Rock, to the bartenders...they all looked like they didn't want to be there. We tipped well everywhere we went (even though tips are included here) and were still treated with disregard and apathy. Beach & Pool The beach and pool are beautiful. There was no beach service when I was there. I had to get my own towel and setup my own chair. No drink service either at either location. Which leads to my next issue with Alexandra. So people run down early in the morning and monopolize beach and pool chairs. They throw down a towel, then go to breakfast, lunch, back to their rooms to take naps, etc. If you don't get a chair at 7am, you are out of luck. What nonsense is this? This the rudest thing I have ever witnessed. We stayed at Seven Stars after Alexandra, and they have a better system. They have pool and beach service. If you are gone for over an hour, they clear your chair. This is fair. To stake out a chair and not use it most of the day is so selfish. So at any one time, there is noone in the pool, but every chair taken. SMH. So I didn't realize this was the system here. One day I went to the pool. There were no open chairs - they all had towels. So I went to one chair that didn't have anyone in it for a while, and the towel was crumpled up on the end of the lounger. Clearly they hadn't been there in a while. So I took the chair and started reading a book. A lady, who was EATING LUNCH at the truck stop, came running over the chair and started screaming at me that was her chair. I looked at her and pointed out she was eating lunch, not sitting at the pool. I pointed out the towel thrown in such a way that implied she was done, and she agreed to that. I left and gave her back her chair, because I wasn't about to get into a fist fight on vacation. But come on. Sports on their website, they said they have pickleball courts. So my husband packed paddles and balls and was really looking forward to this. There is no pickleball court at Alexandra. It is at Blue Haven. So he would have had to take a shuttle to the other resort 15 minutes away- what if he got there and there was noone playing? It is false advertising to claim a resort has something it does not. I was unable to kayak because the water was too rough when I was there. So in summary, the beach is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, the service is apathetic or even non-existent , the restaurant reservation system is frustrating, the beach and pool chair situation is frustrating, the website falsely claimed there was a pickleball court, our oceanfront room could not see the ocean, the drinks are bottom tier, the food average, no snacks available despite being advertised, the entertainment too loud and poorly placed, no beach and pool service. Chef Dass also tried his best to accommodate our dietary needs. These individuals were very friendly and recognizes us by names as we passed by. Because of this I will be returning to the Alexandra hotels. Front desk staff was excellent upon arrival and departure Claudey had a lot of patience and made our checkin a breeze . Arnold helped with our luggages so we can start our vacation with ease. Read less
