Cannot fault it . Staff are brilliant . Room and facilities are fab and the calabash restaurant is class , would never usually go back to the same place as interested in different experiences but for sure will be back here one day. Comfiest bed and a shower second to none

First the good part. The suite we were given was excellent...loads of space and storage space..fully stocked kitchen and large balcony with sea view. On closer inspection though some parts needed attention...blinds on windows and patio doors broke or jammed...window in bathrooom slighty rotted and the oven/ cooker looked like a 60's throwback...great if we wanted retro!!. But overall no complaints. The beach is lovely...as most carribean is. On the downside...the reception staff seemed hard pushed at times to smile. Upon arrival we were handed a load of charges/ papers to sign...didnt have time to put bags down. The reception area seems nice..untill you look up...its old and tired and needs attention. This also applys to many parts of the exterior of the building...wherever you look you can see many signs of decay/ wear and tear...from the woodwork on the bridge over the pool to some of the tiles. The gazeebo on the beach is no more than 8 bits of wood bolted together...a few curtains wouldnt go amiss. The furniture around the pool area looks very low budget. The beds and sun shades on the beach are old and worn and( unlike in the adverts) dont have any cushions..so after a day or 2 bad backs are guaranteed!!. By the restaurant( or should I say cafe?).. theres an area sectioned off with old yellow hazard tape...a small fence cant be that hard to build!. As for the restaurant...after reading the reviews we were expecting al a carte!.. al a cafe more like. Ate there once...that was enough. Entertainment was meh!! At best. On checking out extra items were added to the bill...good job we checked. Might have been an oversight...but I have my doubts. The refund on our deposit never went back into our account...had to e-mail after arriving home to give them a gentle reminder. We chose here based on the reviews..as most people do...judging by the reviews I can only assume most people are easily pleased or havent been many other places. I'd give this place 3 stars...maybe 3 and hf because of the room. Oh and on a plus note...the lads on the beach dealing with the beds etc are great!!. Read less

We visited Bougainvillea end of November /early December as a belated 30th celebration for my fiancé along with our 8 month old daughter. I had spent a lot of time reviewing various hotels but from the off bougainvillea stood out. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the amazing reception team. They ensured everything was covered and our little one was comfortable, nothing was too much trouble for the entirety of our trip and we were always greeted with a smile. The hotel as a whole is fantastic in an amazing location just south of st. Laurence Gap which has anything you’d ever need from fine dining to lively bars. The pool bar staff were brilliant and accommodating , the cocktails were top tier and the rum punch was always a winner ( go careful! 😂😂) We had breakfast included in our stay and there was everything you could ever want on offer at Calabash. The one thing that stood the most during our stay, which speaks volumes of the hotel that it is, is the amount of people that have been here year after year. Some people have been coming every year since 1996!! It was so nice to be somewhere where everyone was so positive and friendly. The hotel isn’t large, which made it so nice to meet so many great people over the 8 days we were here. Every evening there was entertainment adjacent to the calabash restaurant, the happy hour was always great fun and the beach is stunning. You could never tire watching the sun rise or set in this beautiful hotel. To wrap this up as we could really go on all day about the positives of this hotel… if your thinking about booking. Do it. You honestly will not regret it. We’ve been fortunate to travel well over the years and stayed in some great hotels. But this one from the moment we arrived has been one of ,if not the best , based on experience. I can honestly say that I’ve not felt this relaxed in a long long time and it’s a testament to the amazing team at bougainvillea. So thank you!! Read less

We are back from our second stay at Bougainvillea and it was amazing. I was celebrating a special occasion on this trip. When we arrived, our room was decorated and included a celebration card and a bottle of wine. The room and property are very clean and well maintained. Every day you can see staff doing repairs/upkeep work. The staff are very friendly and remembered us from our previous stay. I booked a massage at the spa and it was amazing; so relaxing and reasonably priced. Staff were always asking if everything is okay with our stay and if we needed anything. Staff in all areas were always ensuring our stay was good; even when we walked by maintenance or security staff they asked if everything is okay with our stay. Customer service here does not end with the front line staff (e.g. front desk, restaurant wait staff); it is a culture embedded with all staff. The weather was hot so the cold facecloths that were brought to beach guests were very welcomed. Beach staff would always come and set up umbrellas for shade it required. Thank you Michael! Food at the Calabash and drinks at the pool bar were great. It was so nice to see Vivian, Lisbeth and Joshi again! I like the location of the hotel. It is in a quiet area, but if you wanted more activity and restaurants, it is only a short walk away. It is also a short walk to the bus stop and hotel staff are always available to arrange a taxi if required. I would stay here again if I return to Barbados. The hotel and its staff feel like family! All of the staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. Read less

The second night the issue of water inlets was terrible, a stream of water came through the balcony door and several leaks or water inlets in the room and in the bathroom. For me this is unacceptable, considering this type of hotel and with a cost according to the category of the hotel. Let the person know when you check out and the only thing he said was thank you for letting him know. Read less
