The hotel

Visits to Florida aren't all about theme parks and children's attractions - there's plenty of places full of history and culture to explore at a slower pace, and St Augustine is one of them! Claimed to be the oldest city in the US, you can enjoy a mix of a beach holiday with an educating city break staying here at the Embassy Suites right on the oceanfront. Upgrade to a room with a balcony for views of the expansive pool and the beach all in one - because that's how close you are to the sand! The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental US, and it's just 10 minutes away for you visit and explore. On your way back, enjoy the many bars and restaurants in the area, or cool down at Castaway Cantina back at the hotel with it's impressive selection of cervezas - it certainly fits in with the Spanish feel of this town.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suits during our vacation to St Augustine this Christmas season! The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holiday…most inviting and the staff were friendly and helpful. We chose the beach location as opposed to staying in town with all the Christmas hoopla. Our room was very comfortable and offered everything we needed. The shuttle services that are abundant from the beach to the city. They are moderately priced (much cheaper than Uber) and they run often and on time. This is a pet friendly hotel–plenty of walking places including the pet friendly beach! Our Pitty loved it! We all enjoyed our stay so much we extended another day so we could take in more of the spectacular Christmas lights in town—a bucket list must see! Read less

Food, deliscious, well presented. Wonderful taste. Desert! Key Lime Pie. “Sorry, we don’t have that tonight, would you like something else.” Me: I’m at Embassy Suites, one of the best hotels & no key lime pie. “ Just missed. Going to the beach:. Nobody at towel & beach access kiosk. Took towels & went to beach. Looked out saw 4 chairs set up. Thought they were taken. Started for ocean dragging two heavy chairs. 1/2 way up by the water someone stand up, sees us & comes to help. Get to his location, sign in, spend 2 hrs., great beach, view, chairs. Did not check at desk for protocol with chairs. Maybe my omission. Perhaps instructions as to chairs for beach on a poster near kiosk would be help. Just missed. Paying $39 a car did not apply. Uber & Lyft & other make it easy to get into town. Overall, IMO a wonderful resort & beach. Helpful employees, seem to enjoy their jobs. Gm. Runs a good crew. Will come back next year, but you owe me a pice of KEY LIME PIE!!! Read less

BLUF: Valet left my vehicle unlocked, everything was stolen out of my car, valet manager was rude, blonde female supervisor at front desk had an absolutely abhorrent attitude all weekend. Stayed at this resort over the weekend after Thanksgiving. Room was fine, smelled mildewy, but not overwhelmingly. Very busy. Lots of children. Main issue is the valet situation. The hotel REQUIRES you to valet your vehicle. It is $40/night. My vehicle has manual locks, we advised the valet the first night to please just push in the lock when getting out. Upon check out, the valet pulls my vehicle around. I open the door and find the contents of my glovebox emptied onto the passenger seat. I ask the young man at the valet stand if there would be any reason one of the valets would do that while my boyfriend searched the rest of the car for missing items. The valet was very apologetic and concerned and grabbed his supervisor. My boyfriend discovered everything was stolen out of my car in the meantime. The valet supervisor approaches very aggressively and says that he just personally drove the vehicle to the front of the hotel and there was nothing astray, which was just a bizarre response since we had just stood outside and watched the vehicle pull up and 1) he was not the driver of the car and 2) no one got in the car and ransacked it in the 12 seconds it took for us to grab the keys from the valet. I asked if there were cameras in the garage and he told me “no” and that this was not the valets’ responsibility. I did not feel comfortable interacting with this gentleman, so I went inside to the front desk. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely kind and concerned and went to grab his supervisor. I recognized the supervisor from when we checked in, as she was being extremely rude to the family next to us, and became even more concerned. I asked if there was a general manager on property and she said there wasn’t. I explained to her that the valet must have left my door unlocked and that my items were stolen. She looked at us dead in the eye and said “why didn’t you lock the door, then? That’s your responsibility to lock your own doors.” I said “To clarify, you require us to valet our vehicle, and for $40/night you expect us to get our keys from the valet, go to the parking garage, find the vehicle, and lock the driver’s door?” She said “yes, that’s your responsibility and this is not the hotel’s problem.” Honestly, we just wanted the supervisors to be kind about this situation and to take responsibility for not locking the doors for the exorbitant price of the hotel and valet. If the window had been smashed in, it would’ve been a different story. If when we approached either supervisor, they had said “I’m so sorry that happened, we’ll call the police to get them enroute and try to come up with a solution in the meantime,” it would’ve been a different story. Instead, the supervisors were extremely rude. The parking garage is clearly not managed, and to us, the hotel was just not worth it when there are safer, kinder, better ones in the area. Read less

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for a few days to see the Christmas lights event. When we arrived, we saw there was a $39 a night charge for valet without any self parking available which was disappointing. When I checked in, I had requested an upgrade to a nicer room for our anniversary if there was one available. I was given a room on the first level with a view of the pool and ocean. It was a very nice room, but a higher level would have been much appreciated. We also noticed a lot of dogs in the rooms around us. We love dogs, but we do not like hearing them barking at night and in the morning while we are trying to sleep. I asked the next day why we were put in a wing with a lot of dogs and I really didn’t get an answer. She said they put them throughout the whole hotel, but there was about four staying right by our room. The hotel itself was very pretty and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. We did not use the pool or the ocean because it was only in the high 50s low 60s when we were there. The morning breakfast was OK. Not like some of the breakfast’s I’ve had before in an embassy suites. The gym was fine. It offered some free weights and medicine balls and some other funky equipment. It had a few treadmills and elliptical. There were no weight machines available. The location Was about 15 minutes to the downtown area. All in all, it was a good stay, but I was definitely disappointed in our check-in process with Latoya, who did not seem like she wanted to on our anniversary celebratioN . I also didn’t get answers to why we were put down a pet hall and what the occupancy was when asked. One more to make, please know that you are taxed on everything charged on your final bill. Obviously the room has a tax but so does the resort fee and valet fee that you are obligated to do. My $500 rate when I booked turned out to be $580. Read less
