From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we received the most amazing service. Having coeliacs disease makes travelling difficult, there are lots of places who offer gluten free options but not everywhere understands, ‘cross contamination’. When we go in holiday as a family we tend to try and stick to the same destinations, if we have had good experiences with gluten free, just because it feels safer. A lot of the time we go away and we have an apartment so that we can prepare food for myself so I know I can enjoy our family holiday. I take Tupperware boxes and my own food and when my family go to eat I take my own food with me. It is isolating and not much fun but something I have gotten used to. We decided we would have a look at the Maldives as a new holiday destination as it is somewhere I have always wanted to go. After hours of research my husband found the Hard Rock hotel. Reading through reviews we saw that other people had mentioned they had positive experiences in relation to coeliacs. We decided to take the risk and we were not disappointed. We were met off the ferry by Chinni, she was happy and friendly and very knowledgeable. We were so tired after travelling but she made the check in process quick and gave us all the key points. She knew all about my coeliacs disease and introduced us to ‘chef Ruben’, he reassured me that he would make sure I had what I wanted to eat and gave us his contact details. He came over at breakfast and showed me all I could eat and advised he would bring me out fresh items to avoid cross contamination. I had gluten free bread each morning, gluten free hash browns, fresh poached eggs and a selection of gluten free baked cakes were offered. Hamshu was also amazing at sessions, he made sure we were ok each morning and then went and got anything we needed. We celebrated a birthday while we were there and we had gluten free cake made and the staff sang happy birthday both at sessions and The Hard Rock Cafe. The Elephant and Butterfly again were great, the chef came out and explained that he would try and make anything that I liked.
The rooms and resort as a whole were fantastic, we had the opportunity to stay in accommodation by the beach and in an amazing over water villa. The service in the rooms was perfect too, fresh water provided, turn down service each night. There was an activities program offering teens and children the opportunity to take part in lots of fun activities each day. There was live music a great female singer, bands at The Hard Rock Cafe and relaxing spa experiences. The spa had a good selection of treatments and availability. The staff were knowledgeable and the service was great nothing was too much trouble. I cannot begin to explain how happy this holiday made us, the service received from all the staff at this hotel was just above and beyond. There were just so many people to thank here for making this such a wonderful holiday and we will definitely be back! Thank you
