We just returned on Friday after 10 days at the Grand. The Grand is the +18 portion of the resort and cannot be accessed by the guests at The Suites or Beaches. The Grand resort is beautiful. From the entrance at the front desk, to the pool area, gardens and accommodations. We were in a ground floor room facing the pool. We were two rooms from the entrance off of the pool area. The patio area does not allow direct access to the pool area. The patio is huge. It had a large wicker swing and a separate daybed type seat. It was all very clean and well maintained. There is also a small pull out system for drying your swim suits on the patio. There was access to the breakfast buffet, the Steak house, the Japanese and the French on the ground level. The Italian is on floor two. You have access to the Suites resort through a hallway connecting the Grand with access to Beaches which is next to the Suites. We were disappointed with the gym. It is located between the Suites and Beaches. It is a short walk. However, of all the treadmills in the gym, only one was working. Also only two elliptical, one stair climber, so with most of the treadmills down, options were slim pickings. There are bikes and spin classes as well as a few others that are offered. There is a daily Aquafit class as well. The lounge chairs on the beach and the pool area were plentiful. There are many umbrellas and cabanas for shade too. There are buffets in the evenings, but only for three evenings at the Grand. If you want buffet in the evenings on nights not offered at the Grand, you have to head over to the Suites or to Beaches. We were not overly impressed with the buffet we attended at Beaches one night. The lobby area is the “happening” place in the evenings at the Grand. They have various entertainment in the evenings as well. The guests tend to gather there before heading to the various dinner options. There is no need to make reservations for dinners except for the Japanese restaurant. However, once it fills up, you can be put on a wait list but there is no guarantee when you will get in for dinner. The entertainment team are a wonderful energetic group. They work long hours trying to keep guests entertained and busy throughout the day. They also entertain in the lobby area too. The only drawback we saw with entertainment was the fees looked for for two of the presentations. The cost is per person and in US dollars. This was the first time we have come across this at an all inclusive resort and chose not to participate in either if the shows. There was also a water ballet show done, which was very entertaining, however, these were entertainers brought into the resort and not members of the actual entertainment team. We would love to give a shout out to Alrick and Twinkle who both took time to ensure that we were OK everyday. As a heads up, this is a type of Timeshare program and you will be approached to attend a 2 to 3 hour presentation. We were aware what was going on with the send from the front desk to meet our Concierge and then the invite to have breakfast in exchange for a massage at the spa. It is too bad that now, when you attend an all inclusive resort that you have to deal with timeshare programs. But, we were told that this seems to be the new norm. We purchased an all inclusive, luxury package through Air Transat. We feel that we did get our monies worth. Alcohol was all top shelf. One thing to keep in mind, if you tend to enjoy the “slushy” drinks you need to bring your own reusable straws. We did tip the bar staff, restaurant staff and our housekeeper. We did not note any difference with service whether you tipped or not. We did not note many excursions offered by our carrier and therefore had to figure out another way to get an excursion done to our likes. It was enjoyable and informative and we were actually glad we booked our excursion with TCJ Tours . They also handled our private airport transfers and we highly recommend them to anyone coming to Jamaica we were extremely pleased with there communication and service. We learned alot from them !!!. Our room was clean upon arrival and kept clean by housekeeping daily and by the nightly turn down service. There were no leaks, odours or insects in our room. We did meet another couple who had a problem in their room. The management quickly resolved their problem and moved them into an upgraded room. We would definitely visit this resort again in the future. Hope that this review has helped anyone with ant doubts or questions. Read less

We LOVE it here at Joia Rosehall because it is always a great vibe, and they always make us feel like we are visiting family every time we go back, plus the food is absolutely amazing. Auntie and I came here for a “workation” ans we anre travel andvisors, and decided to stop here for the 2nd half of our trip. We were informed by our driver that many of the resorts, including Joia Rosehall, workers went on strike due to unfair treatment and wages. That was something we were kinda weary about as we just had an experience at another resort where we felt the effects of the strike. We were truly hoping not to see it shown evidently at one of our favorite resorts in Jamaica. We were celebrating early birthdays as well as a work anniversary, (hers is in January, mine in February, and the work anniversary is in December). I coordinated a few things with one of my favorite receptionist, Verona (S/O Verona because she goes above and beyond to accommodate the guests even when we are not visiting but send our clients there as guests), to see what we could do for our celebrations. We first had the Swim-Out Jr Suite, which was ok but we LOVE our view of the Ocean, so guided us to upgrade to OceanFront. We loved the room, great view!!!! Christopher is our original butler from a few years ago, but we didn’t take full advantage of the butler service. This time we were encouraged to use the Butler Service, and we are sooooooo glad we did. Christopher went out of his way to ensure that auntie was pleasantly surprised for her lil birthday recognition, he even included me in the whole shebang 🎯. Anytime you come to Joia Rosehall and you book the Butler Suite, make sure you request Christopher. This is not a slight against any of the other butlers because they work very hard to satisfy their guests as well, we just had the awesome pleasure of having Christopher yet again as we had him earlier this year in February for my birthday. Not once did we feel an ounce of attitude from Christopher or majority of the staff there. They made it their duty to make us feel as close to a normal experience as possible. Were there a few staff members that showed their attitude, yes but that was the exception, not the standard. We just wanna big up the staff dem at these resorts because without them, we wouldn’t have anywhere to vacation. We implore those in power to treat your workers better. Remember one hand washes the other. Thanks again Christopher and staff at Joia! Read less

This was our third trip here, and while the resort is beautiful, the staff is what makes the resort amazing. As we entered the gates to the Iberostar complex at Rose Hall, you could see the Grand JOIA below; even before we stepped out of the car, you could feel the grandness of the resort. As we walked into the lobby, your eyes moved in every direction, and you could tell you were back in a Grand. For those who’ve never been to a Grand JOIA, I highly recommend coming to experience one of the grand-level resorts. They took our luggage, and we went down to check in. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our team of Shafa’e, Patrice, Joely, and Genel checked on us throughout our trip, always asking what they could do, what we needed, and how they could improve our trip. They found us no matter where we were in the resort and also set up our daily massages at the SPA, which were so relaxing We got to the room, which had a magnificent ocean view, and our liquor was there, as well as a fruit platter and a bottle of Moet. The room was beautiful, with plenty of storage, a comfortable bed, a large bathroom, and amazing ocean views. Our refrigerator was not working when we arrived. One quick call to the Butler and we had a new refrigerator less than 10 minutes later. Butlers make things happen. We requested the same butlers we had on our last trip here in March, which was Owen and Orain. They checked on us every morning, afternoon, and evening. They always asked what they could do for us, what we needed, and how to improve our vacation. In addition, our Ambassador Cedric was amazing. He also helped us every night, ensuring that our evening was perfect. He worked the evening shift, and every night at dinner, he would show up to ensure everything was up to our satisfaction. We never had to worry about anything between Cedric, Owen, and Orain. This is how a vacation should be. Friday night is the Seafood Gala; you genuinely do not want to miss it. We decided to eat there versus at one of the restaurants. This was no disappointment. There was sushi, mussels, oysters, shrimp, lobster tails, steak, pork loin, and different kinds of fish they would grill for you. Amazing. If you ever have a chance to eat at the seafood Gala, do not miss it, especially if you like seafood. The lobster tails were delicious; you could have as many as you wanted. We also had this spicy shrimp stir-fry, which was fantastic. The restaurant looked amazing, and I would give this dinner a 10 out of 10, maybe even 11 out of 10. It was great to be back at a Grand/JOIA. After dinner, we headed to the theater to see the Dolce show. If you don’t know, this is a very sensual erotic show, but not sexual in any way. They have provocative dancing, signers with beautiful voices, and chocolate you feed your partner. There’s even a blindfold in which you blindfold your partner while feeding them chocolate and champagne, and the best part is they allow you to take the blindfold home for future fun. They had complementary cocktails when you walked in; it was a fun night. There was an additional charge to see this show. The normal nightly entertainment was terrific, and we enjoyed the complementary shows every night. We saw the Aqua show, the Motown show, and the Drums show. Plus, there was always something playing in the lobby bar each night before we went to dinner. We ate at each restaurant and enjoyed them all. The Italian was a little lacking when we were here last time, but it was much better both nights we ate there now. My favorite was the French. I usually don’t gravitate to French cuisine, but it was great. Lunches at the beach offered us a great variety each day, you must try the Jerk chicken and Jerk pork chops, washing it down with a red stripe beer, heaven. We had breakfast every day at buffet, a great variety, and delicious. We loved the beach. There is a little seaweed at the bottom of the water, but the sand is so soft, and the gentle crashing of the waves is so relaxing as you look out over blue water as far as your eyes can see. We had a fantastic team at the beach of Donovan, Merrick, Britney, and Moesha, who cared for us all week. They would clean the area, set up the beds, provide towels, refill your drinks, and just attend to you all day. They were always a step away but never bothering you. Amazing service. We plan to come back again; we had such a wonderful time. Read less
