The hotel

With a stunning sunset location, flanked by UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Peak, this LUX* resort also overlooks an endless stretch of golden beach. Sheltered from trade winds and on the quiet side of the island, it’s an ideal place to catch up on some R&R. Landscaped gardens surround you, dotted with five swimming pools — select your favourite and pull up a lounger. Romantic in feel, the hotel is also ideal for families, with a superb kids' club offering activities such as treasure hunts, art classes and tennis lessons. Water sports abound, try your hand at snorkelling, water-skiing or kite-surfing perhaps. If you prefer dry land, no worries — team up with friends for a game of volleyball or hire a bike to explore the lush interior. Come sundown, the pace picks up slightly. Head to The Bar for cocktails and live music, or while away the hours in East, feasting on delicious Thai cuisine. Set right beside the ocean, The Beach is also highly recommended, serving up Italian fare in a relaxed setting.

The staff were very friendly especially Melina and Hossan. Annunto was amazing at the restaurant. Everyone we interacted with would know our name and were super attentive. Theo at check in was a young upcoming star! The Japanese chef Mart put on an excellent show.

Staff are very kind, Yash was very helpful, suggested places to visit, played cards with us, and created a lovely atmosphere. The resort itself is beautiful, a bit of bad weather but generally really nice stay, the food is also lovely from their restaurant.

We loved the watersports (snorkelling, SUPing, and wakeboarding) and my husband went surfing with a neighbouring guide. The choice of 3 pools was a huge plus for my daughter, as was the daily marshmallow roasting! The buffets were very good quality, fresh local fish grilled-to-order everyday, and the bread rivaled some of France's best- we were hugely impressed. We ate at East twice and loved it, of particular note was Abi(raj) who was an incredible host- he really made the experience. He was fantastic with our daughter and she still talks about him! We had a few trips to the amazing spa- thank you Varsha for a fab massage! The front desk staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout and our trip feel special, with thanks to Jessen (sorry, I think I've spelt that wrong!) and Reeya who were fabulous! We loved it so much, we've already booked to come back in 2025 :) Read less

Our room, a Sunset Junior suite, was immediately available when we arrived at about 10am. The room was beautiful, modern colonial style, well appointed, with a large bathroom and balcony. Food at the hotel was very good quality, well cooked and presented. The grounds are well kept and the beach was beautiful with shade from the trees and canopies - with call buttons if you got hungry or thirsty. We had visited Mauritius several times before, always staying at nice hotels, but this was the first time we had stayed at a Lux. It won’t be our last time as the facilities and staff made the holiday, so much so that we are booking again for next year. Read less
