LUX* South Ari Atoll

Stayed for 8 nights at Lux in December in a romantic overwater villa. This room was stunning, would highly recommend. Our room guy was called Jinah and he was fantastic. Our room was spotless and he left us some beautiful creations with the towels in our room. Could not do enough for us and the room smelt beautiful after cleaning. We were welcomed by Ria who kept in touch via whatsapp throughout the week, sending the events for the following day and made all our reservations for dinners and excursions. The food is outstanding, we did not eat one course even that wasn't WOW. it's hard to stop and the choice of food and restaurants is unbelievable. The cocktails and bar service is incredible. Sadly we lost track of the names of all the amazing people that served us. Mahud on the beach outside Beach Rouge was so attentive and funny, what a guy. Mofisa and Zaid in Beach Rouge were great and we did eat there a few times due to service and amazing dishes. We ate at the Japanese and Allan the Chef kept us entertained and cooked the best Tapanyaki meal we have ever had. Stunning. The little golf carts were great. Running us along the island when we didn't want to walk, chatting and making jokes. "Shortcut" was so funny - that's the easiest way to remember his name as it sounded like shortcut! The resort staff are exceptional. Special mention goes to our housekeeper Muaz who greeted us every day with a smile and a beautiful soul. The resort is pristine throughout - testament to all of the hardworking staff. Salwa was our concierge who took care of any requirements we had such as restaurant bookings. It was the most beautiful sight and fantastic experience. Island overview is what you can see other reviews. Everybody passing each other greets each other smily. Many staffs clean and serve hard in the early morning. At whaleshark snorkelling, crews did their best to find whaleshark and shared some movies for my wife who couldn't dive due to seasickness. We had delicious dishes at allegria. Live music was performed according to customer's nationality there. At last night, bus driver gave us japanese song. And to Anfol It is memories of life for us to your become friend. You gave considerate what we need whenever we met, therefore it was comfortable stay. At last day, you came our room to say goodbye. The LUX Lounge at MALE airport waiting for the seaplane, gave a brief taste of what to expect. After a long flight, luxurious sofa's, fresh coffee and biscuits awaited. When the seaplane docked at the resort, you were greeted by staff waving and so heaven for eight nights began. Before I'd collected my bag I was allocated a concierge called Giada, who greeted me by name yet we'd never met previously. The check-in included fresh juice and a towel, followed by arrival in a room that was just stunning. I had a beach room with a plunge pool, but upgraded to a Romantic Beach Pool, which included an Infinity pool just for me. Two minutes from my room were two sunbeds and a further ten second walk led me to the sand and the sea. I would advise the All-Inclusive package because the food/drink was just remarkable. There were several restaurants, a la carte and buffet, themed evenings i.e., Maldivian Night/Seafood etc. All Inclusive also gives you snacks and drinks from the mini bar, which included soft drinks/house wine, and tons of sweets. Twice a week there was an outdoor cinema under the Maldivian stars sitting on a bean bag with popcorn. I used the gym to have a Pilates class. The class was an extra cost but yoga was free as was the general use of the gym. Back to Giada, the Concierge. Upon arrival she asked for my number so that we could exchange WhatsApp messages. This was a fantastic service, from my arrival to departure I received constant updates on food choices/activities and a check up message on whether I was okay and that everything was meeting my standards. I'm not sure how Giada managed to offer this service to so many guests. She reserved dinner for me, as well as trips. That leads me to the free snorkelling. Whilst there were chargeable water activities there were quite a few activities that were free. There was a SPA, which I didn't use only because I had spent my time doing other stuff. The island was large compared to other islands. I was able to walk it in 35 minutes. There was the option of hiring bikes for 5 dollars a day, but the grounds were so beautiful I spent most of my time walking. There was transport -buggy's - up and down the island all day every day, which you just hopped on and were taken to your destination i.e., room or restaurant. The cuisine was very varied, Japanese, Italian, International, Mediterranean. I had it all and I could not fault any of it this was not standard restaurant food. Whilst the buffets were open for you to make varied choices they had stations set up where you could choose raw food and have it made in any way you wanted. There was an ice cream parlour which was absolutely divine and the café with fresh coffee came with gorgeous biscuits and desserts. This was a very very luxurious hotel. The environment was exceptional, the beach was exceptional, the food was exceptional, my room was exceptional. However, what tipped this hotel into I have to go back as soon as possible was the staff. The hotel must have had hundreds of guests, yet I felt the care that they took to ensure that I had a great time was individualised and the attention to detail was extraordinary. I travelled solo and never felt alone. There were so many people to thank. Giada - Concierge and Ilu - Marketing for Lux were at the top of their game. I'd also like to say a special thank you to Natasha and Nisanka who greeted me with such joy when I attended East Market for Breakfast. The sushi Chef at Umami was just exceptional. Evenings at East Market I was greeted by Muaaviz, Mohamed. Ahmad, Joman, Ziyan and Nihad from the Lagoon bar whose humour kept me going back. Maee from senses was very attentive and had a great memory as I kept going back. Other staff included Glenda, Nooem, Ismail, Shaaniu and Niyaz, Shawkat and Mofizul were hilarious, the buggy drivers.
