Niyama’s twin islands offer up the luxury of choice, from chic serenity on the isle of Chill to the adrenaline and excitement on the isle of Play — or a combination of both as your mood dictates! The resort serves up one of the best dining scenes in the Maldives with no less than seven restaurants, including four unique options: Nest is a one-of-a-kind dining concept in the Maldives featuring four cuisines of Asia, including Teppanyaki, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian; Tribal offers a uniquely authentic cultural experience of African, Central and South American tribal cuisines; Edge provides exclusive overwater dining, accessible by boat, featuring delicate Indian Ocean flavours and fresh local seafood; and, below Edge, Subsix Underwater Playground is hidden out in the ocean and six metres below the waterline. There are also two all-day dining restaurants, two bars, a coffee shop and personalised destination dining options, both on and off shore. If you have little ones, the Explorers Children’s Club pioneers excitement to new levels, with activities for different age groups and interests. An outdoor fun area has a playground, trampoline, splash park and stage, whilst Munch, the mini gourmet kitchen, offers cooking classes and food and drinks for their different tastes. Throughout the resort, family-spirited accommodation, dining and experiences abound — sophistication meets exploration, with extra special attention lavished on VIPs both large and small. Take time to soak up the raw beauty of the unspoilt beaches and blue lagoon, revel in spectacular Ocean views from your luxurious studio, suite or pavilion, explore the islands by bike, and treat yourself to a recharge at LIME Spa, featuring eight iconic treatment rooms and world-renowned products, including Gentlemen’s Tonic and Intraceuticals. You won’t want to leave!

Niyama was the eighth island we visited in the Maldives, and it was by far the most beautiful. The island has lush vegetation unlike anything we’ve seen on other islands. It is very well maintained, yet still gives you the feeling of being in a natural jungle. The beach has fine, white sand, and everywhere you can spot little crabs. The water is calm, and the colors are simply a dream. We didn’t go snorkeling, so we can’t give a review on that. We stayed in two Deluxe Beach Pool Villas on Chill Island, located on one of the nicest stretches of beach. We had villas number 18 and 19, both offering stunning ocean views. The villas are newly refurbished and leave nothing to be desired. One thing we didn’t love was the open-air bathroom, as it gets quite hot in March, but this is something we’ve experienced on other islands as well. We visited both buffet restaurants, Epicure and Blu. Each day of the week features a different theme. The food selection is extensive, and the quality is excellent. We personally preferred Blu over Epicure, as it is smaller and quieter. A special thanks to Said, who cooked wonderfully at Blu and kindly recommended dishes to us. We also dined at the à la carte restaurants Tribal and Nest. Both are beautifully designed and unique in the Maldives. The food quality was high, and the prices were reasonable (especially with half-board food credit). At Nest, we’d like to thank Adi for his outstanding service. We also recommend ordering different dishes and sharing them to experience more variety. The resort offers plenty of activities. We did the Lucky Dolphin tour and saw many dolphins, which was an unforgettable experience. We also did the one-hour jet ski tour. However, the sea was quite rough, making it less enjoyable. A special highlight was our sunset surf lesson, which we highly recommend. The setting was beautiful, and it was a lot of fun. A big thanks goes to Lasse, who was an excellent surf instructor. Some activities could be priced more reasonably. For example, we think the morning yoga session could be complimentary rather than costing $40. The hotel follows an interesting concept, there’s no traditional reception! Instead, you have a Thakuru (butler), who is your personal contact for everything. This works perfectly. We had the pleasure of having Imthy as our Thakuru. He handled all our requests flawlessly and always had a smile on his face. He truly made a difference in our stay at Niyama. We would describe the resort as offering “chilled luxury.” If you’re expecting classic luxury like One&Only, you might be disappointed. For example, there’s no pressure to wear long trousers at dinner, and room keys are water-resistant wristbands. There’s also Imran, who walks around the beach bringing fresh coconuts that he picks from the island, small touches like these add to the laid-back surf vibe of Niyama, which is perfectly captured during sunset at the Surf Shack. During our stay, there were quite a few Russian and Brazilian families, which led to some noise during breakfast. Otherwise, the island was very peaceful and relaxing. As a complete package, Niyama has been the best island we’ve visited in the Maldives so far, and we would definitely go again. Read less

Niyama private island was everything that I expected and more, honestly if you are looking for the perfect Maldives experience this is it. We have been to the Maldives before and stayed at other 5-star resorts. Our expectation was extremely high, and I must say Niyama exceeded all our expectations. We loved both but I have to say that on a total experience Niyama was our best trip ever as we travel around the world every year. The sea plane transfer was smooth and scenic. we were warmly welcomed at the resort by our butler Shanun, who made us feel at home and gave us a wonderful tour of the resort and island. His hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable stay. It was extremely easy to communicate with him via what’s up message to book dinner and excursions. We knew Shanun from another resort where he worked 6 years ago. Our deluxe Beach Villa with pool was stunning—spacious, beautifully designed, and just steps from the crystal-clear waters. The villa was very spacious and modern. You can seat by the private pool on the swing bed and relax all day as you are surrounded by the turquoise sea water. Everything was just so perfect, and the island was so quiet it almost felt like we had the island to ourselves. The resort generally just stunning with all-natural tress around the island. So much more could be said to describe our visit, but the word-perfect sums it all up really. The highlight of my trip was parasailing, an incredible experience with breath-taking views of the turquoise ocean. The Epicure restaurant was exceptional for breakfast and dinner. The food was very tasty and delicious. You can order what you want without any questions and lots of good recommendations from the waiting staff on what to eat etc. Honestly everything about this resort is incredibly and we had the best team and I was really sad to be leaving, as mentioned the service is what makes this place, I have never experienced where the staff all seem to know where you have been and what you have been up to, they are all coordinated and will ask how was your gym workout and morning bike ride. The SPA facilities at Drift were very relaxing during our stay. I would recommend this resort to couples and families. Read less
