The hotel
Living up to its ‘authentically Bali’ mantra, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa - Handwritten Collection feels like a reincarnated Balinese palace. Every element’s lavish, with its three exquisite tree-fringed pools, sumptuous spa, gym, and seven bars and restaurants all adding to the fantastical feel. But nothing’s quite as regal as its grounds, where tropical greenery spills over balconies, tumbles through gardens, and comes to rest on the pure white sands of its beach. The effect’s a serene setting for garden tours, coconut leaf weaving, and traditional dance classes – and for Gecko Club’s child-focused island experiences. Inside its nine hectares, a dramatic temple-like structure splits to reveal an elaborate lily pond festooned with water features; Balinese guest rooms (including Butler-served Club rooms) divulge garden, pool, or beach scenes; and the incredible bamboo web of its double-decked brasserie opens up to hypnotic Indian Ocean views.

Located on Bali’s southern peninsula. Transfer time from Ngurah Rai International Airport: 15 minutes via the Bali Mandara toll road.
Hotel information
382 rooms and suites styled with Balinese touches, including carved wood features. All with private balcony, TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar fridge and safe. Deluxe rooms with balcony, garden views and either 1 king-size bed, or twin beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.
All Inclusive option: includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and free flow of non alcoholic and selected alcoholic beverages (excluding mini-bar and room service).
Meals must be taken at designated venue. Meals and beverages must be consumed at the outlet, take away is not allowed.
Half board option: includes a three-course set lunch or dinner from the special menu in Maguro Asian Bistro, Tamarind Mediterranean Brasserie and Raja's Balinese Cuisine. It is also available for all theme dinners including the cultural show.

The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel can be reached in approx. 30 minutes from Bali Airport. The entire Nusa Dua area is secured by security. This hotel was one of the first in this area and is built in the original Balinese hotel style. It is set in very well-kept gardens and everything is wonderfully green. The staff - from the chauffeur who picks you up at the airport to check-in and the restaurants - are extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. The rooms (we had a standard room) are of a sufficient size and equipped with everything you need. You get two free bottles of water per day. The two restaurants we tried, “Maguro” and “Tamarind”, are highly recommended.

Staff great because they are local Balinese, probably being paid peanuts, location on beach nice, however, extremely disappointed in the big hotel atmosphere, supposedly 5 star, yet very dated hotel, no lotion or conditioner in rooms, extremely outrageous prices for meals and drinks, this is NOT Bali. Would definitely not recommend or stay here…

Would definitely not recommend or stay here again. We came with 50 people for a wedding, wanted to rip everyone off at every opportunity, water $6 a bottle, outside hotel 60cents. Laundry $4 for a shirt outside of hotel $3 for a kilo of washing.
Do yourself a favour and stay at a nearby bungalow with pool and breakfast and unique Bolognese experience for less than half the price of a room at this hotel. I am not a Scrooge but when paying the price this hotel charges there is a certain expectation.

The staff were not only nice but also very attentive. The hotel is in a fantastic location right on the beach, and the variety of food was excellent. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Had a fantastic time from checking to check out. We came here for my birthday and it was a really great surprise that on the day of my birthday they sent a lovely bunch of flowers and a chocolate cake to the room.
