Where is it

Located 118km northwest of Malé in Baa Atoll. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 20-minute fixed wing domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Island followed by a 10-minute speedboat transfer to Royal Island.

Hotel information

148 classically designed Beach Villas. All with terrace, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, telephone, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar*, hairdryer, and safe, bathrobes and slippers, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

All Inclusive option: includes breakfast lunch and dinner in the main restaurant and afternoon tea and snacks at the pool terrace. Drinks include bottled water, tea and coffee, canned or bottled soft drinks and juice. House wine, beer and selected house brand spirits (gin, vodka, rum, arrack, brandy & whiskey) plus selected cocktails, from the main bar and pool terrace, from 10:00am–1:00am. Mini-bar with two small coca colas and two canned fruit juices, replenished once per day (all other items at a charge). Sports including snorkelling equipment, dingy sailing and canoeing. One night-fishing excursion per guest per stay, when staying 6 nights or more.

Please note: Champagne and premium spirits are available at an extra charge.

Premium all inclusive: includes breakfast, lunch and dinner at the main restaurant. Guests can also select one a la carte meal per day at the pool terrace or Raabondhi restaurant. Afternoon tea, a wide range of wines, beers and premium brand spirits, cocktails, tea & coffee, soft drinks and bottled water throughout the day. Mini-bar (replenished once daily) and a selection of land and water sports such as badminton, tennis, snorkelling, windsurfing and stand up paddle boarding. $100 credit per person per stay can be used towards either the spa or diving.

Regular island-hopping excursions*. Overnight picnic trip*. 

Maakanaa Restaurant (buffet, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and Raabondhi Restaurant (à la carte specialty seafood cuisine, open for lunch and dinner). 3 bars including Boli Bar (lounge and fun pub) and Pool Bar.

Evening entertainment in the main bar, including live bands and shows.

Swimming pool. Fitness centre. Araamu Spa* offering a range of beauty treatments and massage, in indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, with sauna, Jacuzzi and steam rooms. Water sports including PADI scuba-diving*, snorkelling, day and night fishing*, big-game fishing*. Tennis (floodlighting available at a charge), squash, table tennis, volleyball, badminton and billiards. 

Room service*. Complimentary WiFi available in main reception, Boli Bar and Raabondhi Restaurant.

Everything was great. We have visited five different islands in the Maldives. The food in your restaurant is the best. Your service is also the best. Thank you very much for the service and organization of Faridun. The only disturbing factor was the mosquitoes.

We had an AMAZING time from the day we arrived to the day we left . We were fortunate to be greeted by Noble who knew everything about the property and went out of his way to take care of any of the needs. Whatever he's being paid he needs a raise 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful island with great snorkelling, great food and the best hospitality. Our arrival to the island was delayed(not the resorts fault). On arrival to the resort the manger apologised to us and booked us in for complimentary massages. This was greatly received after our long travel. We were introduced to Myatt when booking in who was so very helpful throughout our stay. Myatt went out of her way to make sure that everything was ok throughout and kept us updated daily on activities around the resort, booked our al a carte meal and our fishing trip and made sure that all our return transfers and travel was sorted and communicated. It was even arrange for us to go in a lounge on our return. We stayed in a beach bungalow (222) which was in a great spot having shade and sun. The room was cleaned twice a day and the staff were great. The food at the restaurant was delicious and again, the staff were great at both restaurants. Made and Sha to name a few ( there were more but I’m terrible with names) were always there to have a friendly chat and make sure you had all you needed. We were all inclusive which included snorkelling equipment and this was collected daily. The staff there were also very pleasant. We received a complimentary fishing trip by booking All inclusive and we really enjoyed the experience. You were also offered to have the fish caught cooked in the restaurant if you wished. Snorkelling around the island is great. There are many fish, rays and sharks to see not far from the shore. There also seems to be two resident turtles. One near the service jetty and the other not far from the other jetty. The island is beautiful and is kept very clean and tidy by the hard working staff. They really can’t do enough for you. If you want to get away from it all and relax in lovely surroundings, eat nice food and receive a great service, Royal island is the place to go. Read less

Really great service. First of all 5**** to all staff (cleaning, bar, restaurant, each person at the resort). Special thanks to Sha ) Excellent beaches, villas are very clean. Tasty a la cart restaurants, 5**** Transfers well organised. Hope will be back soon).

My wife and I came to Royal Island for seven days. From the beginning to the end of our stay, we received warm hospitality from literally all the staff on Royal. Special thanks to Mark, our personal assistant. The island is a paradise for nature lovers, with a lot of forest and different birds and their sounds. In front of the beach villas is white sand, and after 30 meters of swimming, you reach a coral reef which surrounds the island. We like snorkeling and really enjoyed every moment. There is a diving center and adventure center offering many activities. It is really worth taking a snorkeling trip with mantas and the Wanderlust tour. The food was fantastic, and the villas were very comfortable and clean. All recommendations for Royal! Read less
