We just got home from this amazing resort. This was our fourth time in the Maldives and we’ve been wanting to come to this resort for ages now and I can honestly say it’s been the best so far by a mile. The moment you step off the plane there were representatives at every stage, someone to help you check in for the sea plane, the seaplane Finolhu lounge was beautiful, then someone to make sure we were at the lounge safely. I don’t know where to start with this review because I feel overwhelmed how amazing our stay was. We were on the premium all inclusive package which I would highly recommend. Our arrival at Finolhu was wonderful, fresh cold coconut drinks and our butler ready to take us to the villa. We had a sunset pool ocean villa and it was incredible - by far the best room we’ve ever had in the Maldives. The interiors were wonderful and we had great pleasure listening to the head housekeeper at the management party about the different interiors in the room. It was complete with three showers, a beautiful bath overlooking the ocean, the biggest bed you could ask for. His and her wardrobes with robes, slippers, flip flops and a beach bag to use during the stay. It was cleaned twice a day with lots of soft towels left for us and beach towels to use out on the terrace. It had a beautiful day bed which was covered, two padded sunbeds with umbrella. Table and rocking chairs plus the most fabulous infinity pool. There was a huge mini bar which to be honest we barely used as all food and beverage was so plentiful during the stay but it was a great touch and it had everything from bottles of rose wine, red wine, white wine, Prosecco - an array of soft drinks, chocolate bars, crisps and snacks plus a coffee machine and tea. Our room was quite far away but that was absolutely no issue as when it was too hot to walk Ahmed was there to pick us up to where we wanted to go and then at night we would walk back barefoot and admire the sea life with the breeze. There was a main buffet style restaurant called beach kitchen however this was not your average all inclusive buffet - breakfast was filled with fresh cut fruits, pastries, fresh omelettes, eggs, Arabian style eggs, healthy smoothie and açai bowls, porridge, pancakes, fruit toast, Asian cuisine and salads with cold cuts and cheese. Fresh juices and special smoothies. Everything you could possibly wish for. Lunch was fresh grilled meats and fish, freshly cooked special stations which changes every day such as lamb burgers, paninis, toasted sandwiches. Beautiful freshly prepared salads different each day with roasted pumpkin, Asian slaw, feta and watermelon. All separate fruit and vegetables, hot steaming curries, rice, cottage, fish and shepherds pies. Hot potato choices, Indian, Thai, noddles. Hot freshly cooked pizzas. Beautiful hot and cold puddings and desserts, juices, drinks and cocktails. Evenings here at the beach kitchen were different themed evenings from Maldivian, Indian, street food. Just an array of food. There was also the Kanusan restaurant which was japenese cuisine, sushi, maki, sashimi, grill meats and beautiful side dishes plus their bento box dessert. Most people said this restaurant was their favourite but ours was the Arabian Grill. The Arabian grill was fantastic, we always had a beautiful table on the beach. You could start with gorgeous meze - cold fresh dips and salads and hot meze such a salty crispy cheese, lamb kibbeh and halllumi served with hot fresh pitta breads. There was always lots of other starters and salads too such as the soft cauliflower. The main courses you could pick from traditional tagines or grilled meat and fish platters. We absolutely loved the lamb shoulder tagine and Ricky was so kind and hand delivered us the next day the recipe for it so we can cook it at home. The milk lab was dream for when we slept in because of jet lag for breakfast and we could have hot and cheesy toasties with protein shakes, milkshakes, pastries. Crab shack felt like you’d been whisked away to another island - we enjoyed coconut shrimp, fresh guacamole, hot freshly cooked burgers and pasta. Cold wine and cocktails. We spent most evenings at the beach bar and I cannot thank for the staff for their patience with us. DJ Anil was fantastic and even though often we were the last two guests standing we had so much fun with him playing our favourite songs and our little joke about playing fireball as my husband span me round the dance floor. A huge thank you also to Moustafa in the bar who every night stayed serving us until the early hours cocktails and hydrating us with water. There was also another female member of staff who was wonderful here remembering I like the pineapple Jamtinis but I don’t think I wrote her name down. The snorkelling was fantastic - the moment you go into the ocean you are greeted with tons of stunning fish and the water was crystal clear. We had two trips to the spa which were wonderful. Both treatments were really unusual and it was so nice to have a relax and enjoy new cultural spa experiences. There was always something to do, from coastal social, water games, circus skills, the famous white party dancing on the beach until late. We had so much fun at the white party and then laughed as we got the biggest rain shower and us and some other guests running through the beach in the rain. Finally onto the staff. I felt emotional leaving such wonderful people here. Every single person was incredible and we were struggling to read the name badges because they were brown and engraved so I feel like we have missed people on this list. Upul - what a fantastic kind, gentle man. The moment he greeted us with our names we knew he was a special man. He was just a dream in making sure guests were happy. Ricky and also Ricky’s manager who we didn’t write down his name - An absolute pleasure to spend each day laughing with you and having so much fun. It was heart warming to see you and your staff having so much fun and jokes together. You always made sure to come out of your way to see us and check in and chat about our day. Suraj - thank you for every day joking and laughing with us. You made our stay so eventful and we couldn’t stop laughing every time we saw you. Samey - thank you for showing us all the maldive fruits and being our coconut guide! Fahudu, Sudeerah, Naail and Ayaz are just some of the other people who really made our stay. And lastly because I’m sure this is the longest review we’ve ever written - to our butler Ahemd. We couldn’t have had this amazing stay without you. From the moment you greeted us we knew our holiday was going to be special. You were always the other side of our WhatsApp. Helped us initially set up the WiFi, time and download the app but also every morning sending us the daily activities. Being our personal Chaffuer around the island. Chatting to us every morning, day and evening about our day, our plans. Helping us with absolutely everything and anything we needed. Sunburn - Ahmed arranged for fresh aloe Vera from the Finolhu gardens in our room, bought us our snorkelling equipment, made sure we had supplies when we ran out, checked every day if our room was ok. When I got heatstroke checked I was ok and offered to help and even offered to help us get food from milk lab if I was unwell. Our little departing gifts. You never seemed tired or stressed you just always had a smile and helped us with anything we needed. Wow! What a week! Staying at Finolhu for our first visit to the Maldives. The minute you are meet at Male airport by the Finolhu team your holiday starts. Greeted with a smile and with every detail taken care of. The service in their welcome lounge was second to none, and made the Seaplane transfer an amazing experience in itself! Once you arrive at the Finolhu resort, again greeted by a welcoming team with the whole check-in experience seamless. Raaish looked after us during our stay and ensured we had amazing time. The resort facilities are excellent, very well maintained, spotlessly clean and something for everyone. The dining experiences were perfect and excellent quality. The highlight for us was the White Night Party at the Crab Shack, brilliant atmosphere, excellent food and danced the night away on the beach, just perfect. We did a couple of excursions which were fantastic, the Turtle and Dolphin Safari was an amazing experience. In the end too much to list how amazing this resort is but the best thing of all is simply the Finolhu team. The team make you feel that you are really special and the only guest on the island and all so genuine in their approach. The culture that Steven, the General Manager, and his management team have create is one of the best I have experienced where services and client satisfaction is the top priority. Our stay was nothing short of magical, with the most stunning beaches and amazing staff. Finolhu seamlessly combines luxury, authenticity and perfect hospitality in the Maldives. From the moment we arrived we were captivated by the thoughtfulness in every detail. We stayed in a lagoon villa that offered unparalleled privacy and comfort, featuring 145 square metres of thoughtfully designed space. A welcome bottle of Prosecco, chocolates and fruit platter added a celebratory touch to our arrival. Flawless guest service was a hallmark of our stay. Each guests is assigned a Roohu who ensures every wish is met and provides effortless transportation around the resort in a buggy when required. We were blessed to have Saju as our Roohu she looked after us with such care and attention, thank you so much Saju you are the best. The culinary experiences were equally unforgettable. In every restaurant we visited our taste buds were dancing with delight, every meal was superbly presented, with exemplary service. Thank you to everyone who created the most delicious food. As part of the premium AI package we could also visit the Milk Lab, we often stopped for a Cappuccino or the GM special custard shake. Without doubt the Crab Shack definitely has the wow factor for Finolhu. The setting of the Crab Shack is great and so picturesque, we really enjoyed the dhoni boat journey, the staff often stopped for turtles and dolphins in the lagoon. The food was amazing opting to have lunch here most days. Our favourite food was the Coconut Prawns, Sri Lankan fresh water prawn and catch of the day, we also tried the equally delicious tuna and beef burgers. We were lucky enough to be on the island for two white parties at the Crab Shack, these were great fun, followed by the after party at the Beach Club with DJ Anil dancing the night away until 1am in the morning with fabulous friends we made while on holiday. We chose the premium AI package that allows us to eat at all the restaurants as much as we liked. We loved the that the island served Taittinger Champagne, spirit measures were unbelievably generous all being topped up without asking, every drink was a premium brand. We chose Finolhu to celebrate my milestone birthday and couldn’t have chosen any better. Finolhu really is fun loving and vibrant. From the moment we stepped off the plane at Male we knew we had made the right choice. We were greeted by Guty he checked us in for the seaplane transfer then personally escorted us to a sleek Mercedes MPV which took us to Finolhu’s seaplane lounge. We were welcomed with cold towels and complimentary food and drinks while resort checking was completed, and waiting for the seaplane transfer, setting the tone of the exceptional service we continued to enjoy. Staff - WOW! Every single member of staff we encountered was so friendly and helpful and always took time to chat with us. Just retuned from a 12 night stay at Finolhu. What a wonderful place, stunning location and beaches with the most attentive staff. We were celebrating a special anniversary and stayed in an over water pool villa, which was just lovely. The villa had a super comfortable bed and was furnished perfectly with lots of outdoor furniture. Saw a lot of beautiful fish even from the deck. Restaurants - superb especially Kanusan - Japanese with wonderful Lobster as an option Crab Shack - our favourite for a lazy lunch and open one evening Milk Lab - amazing coffee and shakes. Also sandwiches and fab cakes (gluten free carrot cupcake my favourite) Accommodated my gluten free diet seamlessly - home made GF bread at the breakfast buffet was divine We did the turtle and dolphin trip which was great fun. Did a lot of snorkelling. Spa - excellent and would recommend. We had struggled to pick a resort for this trip and feel we picked well. Finolhu is AMAZING Read less
