Sun Siyam Vilu Reef

Just returned home after our second stay at Vilu Reef-first Visited Dec 22 and had such a great time we rebooked. We weren't disappointed and again had an amazing time. On arrival you're allocated a host who is your contact throughout. We had Reema and she was outstanding, instantly responding to queries, booking restaurants, updating us with our trips info etc. Highly courteous and professional she immediately resolved one issue with our room and was a great help with our check out, online check-in etc. With WiFi everywhere the hosting system works very well. The island was as stunning as we remembered it and the staff were just as friendly, hardworking and professional as previously. It was so nice to be remembered in the bars and restaurants by older staff and have table/bed decorations saying Welcome Home. The food in the buffet restaurant Aqua and the a-la-carte Spice and Well Done is delicious, varied and with great spice a and fish cookery. Fussy with how our fish is cooked the chefs perfectly cooked it every time. The chefs and staff are all passionate and take pride in delivering excellent service and delicious food/cocktails and they elevate the resort and your holiday. Apologies for not being able to list everyone but we would like to pass a very special thanks to the following who, for us, stood out with their incredible hardworking ethos, passion, friendliness and personnel service, always going the extra mile and making you feel extra special, from breakfast through to dinner. They are a credit to Vilu Reef and are a big reason to return: Tharinda-mainly the Spice but he looked after us everywhere and we always looked forward to meeting him- and Kushal in the Spice-which has the most amazing and authentic Indian cookery. Vjay (congratulations on your well deserved promotion Captain-so pleased for you) and Poonam the brilliant pastry chef who creates fantastic deserts/ice-cream and the divine coconut sorbet in the Aqua. Dilshad in the Well Done who always ensured everything was perfect for us whilst serving us delicious fish and meat dishes in the sand. Our room-Deluxe Beach Villa138 then 140 was kept immaculate by Babul who came twice daily and was so pleasant, polite and hardworking, always asking if we needed anything and could he do anything-thanks you were brilliant. For me snorkelling on the awesome house reef was another big reason to return. Close encounters with turtle, sharks, rays, moray eel, and multiple reef fish was breath-taking. Vilu Reef has highly professional and very experienced dive and water sports centres. With the dive team I went on the Mantas Ray trip twice it was so good-90mins solid swimming with these incredible creatures. The staff also try to find the elusive whale shark but sadly it hid from me. Azeem manages the dive centre and along with Migey and Akko took us on another trip onto a couple of local reefs. Migey showed my wife how to snorkel and with patience and understanding got my wife into the open sea-no one has ever managed that. We had the most incredible time with turtles, sharks and reef fish-Azeem, Migey, Akko, thank you so much for that experience, one of the best of my life. They video everything with Go-Pros and send to you so you will have these underwater adventurers for life. Thanks to Andrea for the scuba dive experience -Im getting the medical cert for next time!! I learnt so much from you all, thanks. These guys are so knowledgeable, experienced and love what they do, they want you to experience the joy they do. They are highly safety conscious and work tirelessly to enable you to live your dreams. I learnt so much and can highly recommend a trip with them-its worth the cost. The all inclusive package is good-but if I had to pick one fault with Vilu Reef its the fact you don't include sparkling wine as standard. Its featuring more and more as standard at other resorts(and cheaper ones)-moving forward I think you will need to. There was a temporary cocktail bar in the sand at the head of the island while the original bar was getting refurbished. We actually preferred the sitting on the sand watching the sun set to the decking that the original bar had. Would be fantastic if in some way you could keep a smaller beach bar on the sandbank-even for just afternoons like 12-6. I would happily recommend this resort. We are planning to return to Maldives in January 2026 with our adult daughters(who are desperate to come) and we will be returning to Vilu Reef as we want them to experience its beauty, its fantastic staff and the amazing Dive team who allow you to live out your dreams. Wow! Where do i begin. From Arriving in Male airport we were greeted by staff - taken to check for the seaplane and put in a very relaxing lounge to eat, relax and shower if needed. We then got a seaplane and speedboat to the resort. The views from the seaplane were incredible. The staff gave us a small arriving ceremony and we checked in at the Nautilus bar while having refreshments. Our Host Shamzoon showed us the island and how to book restaurants/ see the entertainment. Our Water villa was immaculately clean - it was lovely and cool - stocked daily and cleaned twice a day. We were also upgraded to one with a plunge pool as we got engaged in the trip. Thank You for that Shamzoon it was a lovely way to finish. We also enjoyed the floating breakfast in the pool. The reef for snorkelling is amazing, you see dolphins from the beach daily. There is plenty of entertainment to occupy you. The singers were amazing. There is table service on the beach which is always a plus and the staff are all incredibly friendly and hard working. The restaurants are lovely - especially the buffet and spice - the chefs coming to your table to ask about your meal is a nice touch. Its also amazing how much is included on the all inclusive - many places aren't like this now. If i had a couple little nit picks it would be the following - the quiz night should've been longer - it was nice to learn about Maldivian culture but it only lasted 15 minutes and was only about the Maldives. The entertainment should've been a little more staggered so we could enjoy more and a sparkling wine on the all inclusive would've been nice. Although you are spoilt for choice. Special thanks to Sun Siyam for making our engagement magical - to all the staff. Especially Tharinda, Shamzoon, Chris, Dilshad, Teshan (the best barman in the world) Amrith, Shakil and Kiran. Staying at this resort was an unforgettable experience! The peaceful atmosphere made it so easy to relax with its beautiful surroundings. The entire property is incredibly well-kept, with stunning beaches and crystal-clear water—the perfect getaway. The food was another highlight; every dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. On top of that, the staff were amazing—kind, attentive, and professional. They made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect honeymoon. If you’re looking for a serene and luxurious escape, this resort is absolutely the place to be. We’ll definitely recommend it to friends and family! Read less

Incredible 4 day stay in paradise hosted by Adhu who did everything he could to make this a very special and memorable stay. From start to finish, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our engagement. The staff were incredibly friendly, the resort itself exceed expectations and the food was excellent.
