One of the last bastions of Caribbean exclusivity, the islanders of Bequia know how special it is – which is why the owners of this beach retreat only invite a handful of guests to stay at any one time. With just nine luxury villas, one chic Junior Suite, and the five bedroom mansion house to pick from, each with its own infinity pool or hot tub, it has the feel of a private and very exclusive estate. This elite edge continues at The Liming’s dining room, where seafood is fresh from the ocean and many other ingredients are island-sourced – and it’s all served on the sea-top terrace (or in your villa or suite if you fancy even more privacy).

The wait staff are very welcoming and attentive. The restaurant was busy, but we felt well taken care of. The fish sandwich and the roti were both very good, and the homemade Red Velvet cake is to die for. My passion fruit daiquiri didn't really taste of passion fruit, but was lovely just the same. We found the price of San Pellegrino at $18. US a… Read more

We have recently returned from our 2nd visit to The Liming, and what an improvement! Ian, the new GM has really got a grip of the catering, and service, making this a wonderful location. One feature of the local charm is the cats that live in the gardens on the property. We discovered that a local charity BAPA – The Bequia Animal Protection Alliance, working alongside the local vet, Dr. Saskia Gooding – exists in nearby Port Elizabeth. Whilst at the Liming we were happy to set up a regular donation with them, specifically to look after the cats, and to administer an ongoing neutering programme. The value of this was underlined by the fact that a young cat, who was visibly pregnant, was found dead on the property the day after we had left. Dr. Gooding has agreed to update us regularly on her own website, as to how she finds the health and welfare of the animals going forward. Fellow guests, Please do join us along with Dr. Gooding in your support for this project, in the hope that management will bring the Liming, and all its staff on board as well. With very best wishes to All at The Liming! Read less

We just had the most relaxing, lovely, seamless stay with The Liming. The accommodation is as superb as you would expect of a hotel of this standard, the views, the sounds of the ocean, the clean, blue sea, spectacular sunsets, delicious rum punch were all brilliant. But what really makes the hotel is the staff. From Tyra at the front desk, through Declan in the kitchen, Simon who collected us from the airport, Celestine, head of housekeeping - nothing was too much trouble. They were all charming, fun, and helpful. They really made our week an absolute joy. If and when we can afford it we will be back like a shot. We arrived back in the UK looking and feeling five years younger and frankly blessed to have been so warmly embraced by the staff, and everyone we met in the island. What a place. Read less

The greeting when we arrived was fantastic. Our driver arriving and leaving was also exceptional. The cleaning crew had everything pristine. Lovely beach. The only weak spot is the restaurant. We only stayed two nights prior to sailing for a week. That meant two breakfasts and two dinners. Although the dining area was lovely, and the cocktails were great, table service was awful, which was really amazing, given how great the service was in every other way. Food was just OK, and my husband, who has celiac disease clearly got gluten the morning we left and was extremely ill on the way to the marina at St. Vincent. If you want to eat elsewhere it was not convenient since The Liming is off the beaten path. A lovely place, but you're not going to walk anywhere. Read less
