Throwing you into the full Atlantis experience, The Royal is as legendary as the myths that inspired and infuse them. The architecture, the artwork, the adventures — each have a cheeky nod to the Lost City of Atlantis, but the well-dressed rooms and suites are a little less kitsch, coming with French or full balconies and views over the terraces, water, or harbour. Their spot on Atlantis Paradise Island puts you right by Atlantis Casino and at the heart of the world’s largest outdoor ‘marine habitat’ — with 14 lagoons and more than 50,000 aquatic residents, from sharks to barracuda. The island’s other fabled fun’s yours for the taking too, whether its experiencing rides or slides at the 141-acre Aquaventure waterscape; snorkelling the ‘ruins’ at Atlantis; or kicking back at one of its 21 restaurants and 19 bars.

Canadian Perspective We are a couple in our late 40s/early 50s. We travelled in April 2025 and stayed 5 nights. The Atlantis resort is not an all inclusive resort so be prepared to pay for everything. It is a cashless resort so you pay using your credit card or room card. You may wish to download their app which includes a map. We stayed at The Royal building. Upon arrival, you receive a complimentary stainless steel water bottle. Use this for the water refill station on your hotel floor and for the many stations throughout the resort. You also receive a paper copy of the Atlantean Guide https://www.atlantisbahamas.com/daily-atlantean What’s included in the hotel room: coffee pods, black tea bags, sugar, disposable cups, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face towel, hand towel, body towel, bath mat, hair dryer, safe, ironing board, iron, extra blanket, extra pillow, TV, and WiFi. There is no bath robes, slippers or kettle. Shout out to Princess for her hospitality, providing items and cleaning the room. You are provided a bracelet that you keep on which has the date stamp of your last day. This gives you access to 2 beach towels per day and the water slides. There are 8 main water slides. 4 water slides are at the Mayan Temple: Jungle (easy), Serpent (innertube required, easy), Challenger (hard), Leap of Faith (hard). The tubes are orange in this section. There are both single and double tubes. 4 slides at the Power Tower: Falls (innertube required, medium), Drop (innertube required, medium), Surge (closed when we were there), Abyss (hard). There is also a Rapids River which is mainly a lazy river but has parts of the journey that is more like rapids. This is an easy activity with 9 stops where you can get off. The tubes are blue in this section. There are several single tubes and some double tubes. For details refer to their website https://www.atlantisbahamas.com/thingstodo/waterpark/waterslides Tip: To avoid long lines at the water slides, go early. Double tubes were popular so if you get one, hold on to it. When on the Rapids River, get off at Exit #7 with your tube, climb the stairs for access to the 4 water slides at the Power Tower. The design is well done because once you finish a water slide, you are back at Exit #6 and can keep going to Exit #7 for more slides or continue on the river until you’re done. Food is expensive at the resort. We enjoyed the Fish restaurant by Michelin star chef Jose Andres. We went twice and had the grouper, halibut, octopus and jerk chicken. Book a reservation early or be on the wait list. A hidden gem is the Carmine’s restaurant. The portions are family style so one Italian meal feeds 4 people. Complementary bread is provided. We had lasagna with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Tips: There is a microwave you can use near Sun & Ice restaurant from noon to 5 p.m. If you need disposable utensils, you can get them from Shake Shack. There are complimentary apples and herbal cold tea at the Fitness Centre. We enjoyed the marine animals (e.g., sting rays, turtles, fish, sawtooth sharks, etc.) throughout the resort and watched several feedings which only last about 10 minutes each time. The complimentary 7 am yoga on the beach is yin yoga. The Junkanoo Parade at 9 pm is about 12 minutes. It has dancers and a band to showcase and celebrate Bahamian culture. Summary: We were lucky to get a good deal from Air Canada Vacations and lucked out with some travel credits to use towards food. Depending on what you enjoy doing (e.g., water slides, casino, etc) this resort is certainly different from just a beach all-inclusive resort. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Waterpark? Not so much!

    Apr 19, 2025 Luca T

I’m not sure we will be back to Atlantis again next year. Many of the slides were closed our entire stay. The serpent (shark slide) the challenger, the surge, all of the slides at the Mayan temple and all of the pool waterfalls were not working. It was worse than last year. Construction by one of the pools every day. Beaches and lagoon dirty.

Horrible in view that too crowded. Extremely expensive and not able To enjoy the water park due to 5-6 cruises that pay for day passes. You will not be able to get chairs and long lines for bad expensive food. They should have an era only for hotel guests and others for day passes.

the Atlantis is a Great hotel for kids. Ok hotel for adults. The property is huge, lots of things to do. I would recommend staying at the Cove. That's the best hotel on the property. The Royal is a bit rundown. Amazing weather. Overall good family experience.

We stayed at the Royal tower. They put us in a room different from what we reserved and couldn’t change it because the resort “was full.” It felt like a Seinfeld episode. While we were there during peak season, the crowds are intense. This is because the resort is large as it is, but also because Atlantis allows cruise day trips for cruise ship passengers with all pool and activity areas also open to the day trippers. There are no options for “hotel guest” only. You have to claim a chair long before the pool opens to guarantee a spot for your family. This sums up the money grab experience that is Atlantis. Any time they can take your money, they do. I know it’s a business, but the money grab is extremely noticeable here. We will go elsewhere on our next Bahamas trip. Read less
