Having always stayed over the Whistler side, my husband and i decided we would try a hotel over Blackcomb. We booked the Fairmont for a 2 week stay. The location of the hotel is great, and all staff were lovely and helpful, especially the ski valet and pool/bar attendant Elise from Australia. The location to the Blackcomb gondola was handy, especially on busy days. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of storage for our stay. We only had two issues during our 2 week stay. The pool/spa area can get quite busy and we were a little annoyed that non-paying hotel guests could use this area. Considering we were paying $1200 AUD+ a night this was a little disappointing. But what was more disappointing was the young women who were frequenting the pool/spa area looking for men to buy them drinks. These women were openly discussing the fact they were not staying at the hotel, something about a membership. If you are not staying at the hotel, you should not be able to access this area. Besides this there were multiple conferences on each week, we were not advised of this when booking. Had we have known this we would have stayed at a quieter hotel. Ps for those looking at a longer stay you need to request that the bed sheets be changed, we didn't realise this and slept in the same sheets for 2 weeks, bit gross. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Intentionally misleading marketing of 2 bedroom junior suite

We were disappointed to find upon our arrival that the marketing photos shown on the Fairmont website for the 2 bedroom junior suite did not accurately represent the space. Although the photos show a two basin washstand, each bathroom has only a single sink. And although the Fairmont website has two photos showing a window behind the sofa in the living space, there is none, making the space feel cavelike. When I went to the front desk to see if there was a mixup in the room we received, I was told the marketing photo must have been photoshopped, as none of the living spaces in the 2 bedroom junior suites has a window. And they acknowledged that none of the bathrooms in these units have double sinks. When the general manager called to follow up on our concerns, we were told we were the first guests to point out the issues with the marketing photos and that because the square footage of the rooms matched what was listed online, the hotel was under no obligation to address the discrepancy. She offered to comp our resort fee for a single night of our 8-night stay — roughly 0.3% of our room cost for the trip. We declined the offer, as well as her suggestion that we tell her what we would like to receive. The onus shouldn’t be on the guest to come up with a reasonable solution to selling one thing and delivering something different, and a $68 credit is absolutely not reasonable. Aside from the misleading marketing, I was so disappointed to find a woefully small corner shower in each bathroom and a challenging lack of storage for a suite marketed for six guests. Our family of 5 struggled to organize our belongings for the week. The closet doors in one room were also in need of repair. The location certainly can’t be beat, the common spaces of the hotel are beautiful, the service is great in many areas, staff overall is friendly and I appreciate how quick the hotel is to respond when we make a request, but the bait-and-switch with the room and failure to take accountability makes us highly unlikely to return on a future visit. We've stayed here many times on our annual family ski holiday but have never reviewed before. We're just back home and still think it's a wonderful hotel, with great staff and amenities. We decided to try the gold floor this year and wish we had done previously. Although we love Portobello for breakfast, on a very busy ski day wait times can be long. However, in the gold floor lounge there is a lovely breakfast buffet, great coffee and (as we had 2 vegetarians with us) the veggie options were fab. Healthy snacks and yummy cakes are served there 2-4. Highly recommend it but all in all even without upgrading the hotel is worth it. Love apres in the Mallard, with live music too. the hot tubs and pool ease the muscles after a hard day skiing, changing rooms and gym all very clean. We found all the Staff very friendly, with many going the extra mile in their service. It's on the Blackcomb side (which our family slightly prefer to ski) but the village is easily reached by a short (8min) walk or by Fairmont bus into 3 drop off/ pick up points in village. We very much hope to return in 2026 Read less

This is undoubtedly a fantastic hotel. Our third visit and is perfect for skiing Whistler/Blackcomb. We had a Gold room on the 8th floor and used the ski valet, bar, leisure club and even had a meet and greet with Archie the hotel dog. I do have some thoughts and recommendations to make this a perfect holiday. We first came here over 10 years ago and since that time, nothing has really changed. It still looks nice and welcoming in the lobby/reception, but I would have expected to see some upgrades in that time. Also nothing has changed in the inside/outside pool area, and I am think this now looks tired and in need of an upgrade. The hotel provides great ski facilities, but still people wander around in ski boots. We had someone upstairs wandering about in ski boots and think this is completely unacceptable. The hotel must have loads of complaints about this, so not sure why they don't ask people not to walk about the hotel in ski boots and especially in bedrooms. Finally, we paid extra for the Gold floor. This was great for breakfast, afternoon and evening food/snacks. However, it was evident people from other floors (not floor 9) were also accessing the lounge - really at our expense. Like pretty much every other lounge i have been to, there needs to be restricted access to this area. Finally, I don't have children and the lounge felt often like a crèche. I am not against families with kids using the lounge, but it is hardly an upmarket relaxing place when kids are running around and screaming. I blame the parents, but wonder if the lounge could be split into 2 kid friendly/adult only halves. Special shout out to all the fantastic (international) serving team and Ian (Hartley I think) on Gold reception for being the perfect host. Read less
