The hotel

Everyday is paradise when you wake up with views of the ocean through the floor to ceiling windows at the Margaritaville Beach Resort in the Bahamas. With over 5,000 square miles of beaches, pools, and bars to explore, this is your ultimate destination within a destination. It’s perfect for families, with spacious suites to accommodate you all together, some even with full kitchens for those nights when you want to eat dinner alone on the balcony. The activities on offer are never ending, the water park being the pick of the bunch – and we know you’ll love the slides just as much as the little ones really! There’s also an entertainment centre to keep them occupied, with games, bowling and a movie theatre, so you can relax in the spa or grab a frozen margarita from the beachfront bar and watch the cruise ships coming in and out of Nassau. Make sure you grab a spot at the rooftop bar in time for the sunset, definitely an instagram-able moment.

We are really looking forward to our upcoming stay at this resort. Our family will be joined by two other families for a total of 11 people. However, 2 of the families have discovered massive price shifts in the price of our reservations AFTER we booked. The price of our total stay has shot up by over $2000 since we booked it. When we speak to customer service, we are advised to show up for check in with a PDF of the original price in hand with no guarantee that the price will be honored. At best, this is negligence and at worst this a very deceptive business practice. The only viable solution is for the resort to honor the price booked rather than ask a customer to spend their first hours of their trip arguing with management to simply honor the booked price. Are families supposed to budget for massive price fluctuations of $2,000-$3,000 after they have already booked? Is this how this resort typically does business? Is this how the entire chain of these resorts does business? I still very much hope this issue gets resolved immediately but this experience is putting a damper on a long awaited trip with family and friends. Looking forward to speaking with hotel management who will honor the price we received at the time of booking. Read less

We are booked to arrive on January 18, and this morning received an email that the cost of our reservation increased by over $2,000 AFTER we booked weeks ago and paid our deposit. We are traveling with 2 other families, and this also happened to them. Thus far, representatives we have spoken to on the phone have been unable to confirm that we will only be charged for the price that was confirmed at the time of booking. We have a PDF of our confirmation stating all charges, but they are not willing to honor that. They quoted an even higher price over the phone that we received in today's email. In all of my years of travel to destinations around the world, I have never experienced price fluctuations like this. The customer service representative suggested that we can arrive at the resort and dispute the charges upon our arrival. This is an unacceptable resolution. This practice is non-standard and is a deceptive business practice. Has anyone else experienced this? I am hopeful that the hotel returns our calls and honors our original price confirmation as soon as possible. Read less

My stay was amazing. I was upgraded and Monique Taylor ensured everything in my room was perfect for me. I had two amazing servers in Vacation Cafe, Joshua and Ian! Their recommendations and service with a smile was on point. I would definitely go back to the restaurant and also stay at hotel again!
