Julio was great. He made the best drinks! Was very professional and personal. Very friendly! He always made us feel welcome and special. His area was always clean and spotless. He went out of his way to help us and give us the best experience.

We did not but relented as we were exhausted from travelling with 2 small children. We were promised that it would be a short presentation. It was a 3 hour sales funnel. We had to go through 3 sales staff before we could escape. They even offered crèche facilities to facilitate their pitch. What a waste of vacation. Once the vacation began i noticed that the service was just ok. Not terrible but not what I’d expect for the amount of money paid and the 5 star rating. The food got very samey. We stayed over Christmas and the Christmas Day menu was the same as any other day. Nothing special. The staff seemed thin on the ground and I can only describe much of the ‘service’ in the resort as self serve. Read less

Another fantastic stay with family at Moon Palace - The Grand. We spent a week there in December 2024. The weather wasn't as sunny as we would have liked, but that can't be controlled. It was warm, the pools were clean and the food and drinks were fantastic as usual. It was quite busy, so we avoided the Grand Buffet for breakfast. We instead went to the mexican restaurant on the bottom floor. The omelet station was fast and there was enough selection to satisfy our needs. The a la carte restaurants that we visited were all excellent. We tried the Italian restaurant at the golf course and were blown away. The service, food and drinks all exceeded our expectations. I wanted to address some of the not so favourable reviews I had read before our trip. I will agree that The Grand is starting to show its age, but hotels can't stay new forever. Another negative comment that I read about was cockroaches in the room. Like any warm climate resort, cockroaches can be a problem. They usually come up the drains and we also experienced a couple of them. We simply closed the sink drains, plugged the overflow and covered the shower drain at night. Not a big deal and they don't bother with people. We were never disappointed with the service and having been fortunate enough to visit a few times, we have started to get used to seeing familiar faces. Christopher in the Pub has always been a favourite of ours. Some new faces for us on this visit that made the trip extra special were Monica and Antonio in the Grand Lobby bar and Alfredo at the Unique Dayclub pool. If you like large resorts, Moon Palace will not disappoint. You can stay at Nizuc or Sunrise and still have access to plenty of restaurants, pools and amenities. If you have kids and want access to the waterpark, The Grand will need to be your choice. We love it there and will absolutely be returning in the future. Read less
