There is plenty to like, but also a few notable problems, at Cap Maison, The Good -Food at Cliff is top notch. The daily breakfasts were outstanding. The dinners were also very good, although the special Xmas Price-Fix Dinner underwhelmed given the price point. -The rooms are nice and spacious -The pool area is well maintained and, as a small resort, finding space isn’t an issue (no challenges in finding a beach chair any time of day, which is not the case at other resorts) -Resort has good relationship with local cab companies - was able to secure taxis quickly. And given that accessing anything outside the resort requires a taxi, this was a big plus -The wine tastings - in the resort’s wine cellar- are fun -Concierge does a good job in identifying tours The Not So Good -The beach is quaint and nice, but very small. And beach atmosphere isn’t great if you are looking for peace. It’s quite loud with music and crowded. The general vibe at the beach was a little strange -The Naked Fisherman at the beach underwhelmed. Food was not impressive -Resort service overall was hit or miss. I don’t expect service to be as prompt as in a US urban area - the atmosphere on St Lucia is more relaxed. But some of the waits at the restaurants for a simple drink were interminable and frustrating. And while some service staff were very helpful and eager, others were less so. For example, the frequency or attentiveness of food and beverage service around the pool varied widely - some days great and others basically non-existent -The rooms could be very noisy - the walls are paper thin. And our room had some kind of generator or machinery on the floor above which made an annoying noise all night. It made it hard to sleep -The air conditioning units in our room functioned poorly. We had no ability to modulate the temperature - so when it was as on, it was much too cold. And if turned off, it was too hot. -We also felt duped on check in. The staff showing us our room said the room felt so cold (AC was on) just because the doors hadn’t been open. That makes no sense as no one staying in the room would leave the front door open. It dawned on us that the staff may have wanted the AC/fan on to drown out the industrial noise from above To be clear, this isn’t a poor resort. But at the price point, I expected a little more Read less
